Why would the judge subpoena them? No one can be required to testify as to mitigating circumstances... and, frankly, why would you want to force someone who is reluctant??

Yes, you can be subpoenaed as a witness for the mitigation phase.

Any bets on what will happen next with the "secret witness"? Will they stomp off the witness box or will they continue? What will the jurors think about the media and public being let back in at this particular moment? What will the jurors be told about this whole fiasco?

The Court of Appeals issued a stay in the Arias trial putting a stop to it until it can decide the merits; that is, until it can decide the constitutionality of the closure order. The defense, of course, can always call another witness who isn't demanding a close courtroom so that the trial continues. But no one really expects that.

Aww Congrats!! How old? I had a baby too, since the last trial. :loveyou:

She just turned 3 months [emoji1] seems like time is flying and she's getting so big! Ironically her due date was Travis Alexanders birthday but she was born 4 days early. During the last trial I was struggling to get pregnant so for sure this trial has really dragged on ....

Which reminds me...all the sidebars have been preemptively sealed with no consideration of whether the content affects the defendant's right to a fair trial. I believe we are all aware now of a little thing called the Constitution?

Well. my dinnertime here in the UK is WAY overdue. I have a lovely rare steak, a salad, and a gorgeous bottle of Cabernet waiting for me. And I will enjoy it gleefully while thinking of Jodi eating her peanut butter sammich.
