Since the first victim has been laid to rest, that means an autopsy has been completed. I wonder what was the cause of death?

One of the early bodies was in a nice wooden coffin whereby the rest of the early 1st 3 or 4 bodies I saw being carried were in white boxes. I am thinking the nice coffin was for the stewardess and suspect the AirAsia airlines had agreed to pay for her funeral costs and give her a good coffin.

I am not sure if she even got an autopsy because that would have been too fast. I wonder if her family or the airlines said NO and maybe they didnt allow it. Which would be kind of strange because for a plane wreck I always thought the officials could override family wishes and demand autopsies be done on at least certain ones to help understand the crash investigation.

From what I've read all morning, they suspect they have found the tail section in the area where they have found bodies floating, even seat belted to their seats (the seats float) plus debris from the plain wreckage.

The weather is harsh and they aren't able to dive to verify it nor get a visual other than a shadow from aircraft. There's also an oil slick in this area.

That is good news if they at least know where a large part of the plane is. I wonder if its the same large section that was rumored to have been spotted in the first day or so. If its a different chunk that is almost better news because I am sure they will eventually find that original large part they talked a lot about. Which would mean 2 large parts basically have been seen.

The tough thing with a plane accident is so many all at once, and no passenger fault of their own.
As a small child I have always wished we could bring on our own parchutes and have a door in the back of the plane that we could elect to jump out of during an accident such as this. I have never sky dived before but I can guarantee you I would be a quick learner if I knew plane was going down and I had a parachute and a door to get out. Even paragliders have parachutes on their backs sometimes. Maybe this is not too far fetched of an idea.

I agree! that whole DB Cooper fiasco ruined it for all of us though....no more rear exits for passengers (which would so help with traffic flow during boarding and exiting)...........hopefully one of the knowledgeable aviation posters here can shed more light on that.

"Bung Tomo KRI not equipped ROV that can not take the visual data. Basarnas asked us to get there because we bring the ROV, "said Aga.

But once again, have not confirmed whether the objects found KRI Bung Tomo it is part of the fuselage AirAsia QZ 8501. The survey vessel Geo MGS will take visual data must be reported in advance to Basarnas before otherwise it really is part of the ill-fated plane or not.

You must be right Hatfield, she was buried without an autopsy. I found the following in an article about her:

This is very bothersome. Every body MUST be autoppsied . Peroid. Down the road we need a complete inch by inch breakdown of g forces, sitting postions, objects that struck people, what objects people as projectiles struck this is very crucial - they had better be autpopsing every body, religious stuff, whatever, ignore, they all must be autopsied.

Catching up. I agree here. Just a wild guess here but I think its possible the flight attendant initially survived the initial crash and opened that door for everyone. It would explain her and a few other bodies getting out along with that inflatable stairs. If they did survive, they were gravely injured and I dont think they were in any condition to swim in the water. I think maybe either the stewardess or someone nearby that door managed to get the door open and that is about it. The stairs would have inflated and ripped free from the plane as it sunk. Then a few bodies near the door floated out.

Just a guess because it is strange how those inflatable stairs were found. And I think the stewardess would be sitting near that door.

I think that many of the investigators may be Muslim as well.

Question. Keep in mind I have not read every post. The plane has to be broken apart for bodies to float to the surface right? Could the rest of the bodies still be strapped to seats that didn't break apart or was the plane that broken apart?

I know it looks like timber but it's not it is just the other side of the window section in between that section you would have insulation and then the outer skin of the fuselage. The inner infrastructure of an A/C is actually quite lightweight but incredibly strong.

I saw a pic a few days back of the hospital receiving area for the victims who were brought in, with hospital staff waiting - and two large shipping containers that had been put outside for storage.


The bodies will be brought to a nearby hospital inside a police complex, where cold storage containers have been prepared to hold 150 bodies, said Colonel Dr Budiyono, head of East Java regional police's health services.
