Revisiting George Anthony statements re: Greta on the Record Aug. '08

I think GA saw or at least smelled something in that trunk that day. On the 25th, KC, by her own admission, stated that the car smelled of death. This was when she texted AH about how bad her car smelled. That trunk didn't go from no smell on the 24th to smelling bad enough on the 25th that KC went into cya mode with her text to AH. If GA saw enough of the inside of the trunk to state that there were clothes in it, he was close enough to smell the odor of death. Something is not right with his story.

The fact that George is lying is what is not right .. :behindbar

I'm still in  that he even drove the car out of the tow-yard .. :waitasec:

8/4/08 George's LE interview

GA: I did not look in the trunk, because the distance where I was at, she was the one that just handed them to me and slammed her trunk right away.

Thank you, that was fast. The Prosecutor could use a few of you on their team. Impressive!

This story evolved over time and depending on audience. It became that KC rushed ahead of GA, grabbed the gas can and, almost threw them at him with an abusive remark.

It seems like the early GVS story was CA damage control to cover for the ?fact? that there was no smell in the car at that time and no Caylee, because GA looked in.

As always, GA was more truthful to LE and FBI and told the story that he didn't get that close, KC beat him to it and offered up the gas cans when he was going for tire irons. This version makes KC more suspicious in that she was desperately covering a smell or something in the trunk.

CA was definitely engineering damage control post the 911 call, once she knew and this will explain the GA June 16 story as well, in its level of detail but missing so much.

Yup Damage Control.

Let's see George explain the discrepancy .. :waitasec:

:waitasec: Collapsible blue bin???

Was the laundry bag that Caylee was found in, dark blue or black and collapsible?

Especially since, as he said to LE, he knew that smell, he had smelled it before, it's a smell you never forget and  he still drove the car home even after pleading with himself that he hoped not to find Casey or Caylee in the trunk.

Nope, the laundry bag was off-white (but collapsible). I think the blue bin was something different--does anyone remember the list of things found in the trunk? I believe there was something like this.

Sadly, I don't think anyone will make him have to explain it... or anything else. And it's a friggin' joke because this is WHY these people are what they are... why they created the child(ren) they have. Professional victims. What gets me is that it seems their tricks have even work with LE, These people have lied under oath- how many times? I think LE is majorly underestimating the Anthony's and the games they play.

If that's so, why did he have a late start? Both Cindy and George were not on her side in the beginning. Cindy is the one who called the police- saying she wanted to press charges. Apparently she was armed with bank statements. In her 9-1-1 call she said her grandaughter is missing and her daughter's car smells like there's a body in there.

When the detectives came to the house the next morning to take Casey in for questioning, George approached the vehicle and told them Casey was hiding something. I believe he also snuck over to law enforcement (in the transcript I read something about Lee and Cindy not knowing he was there and George asking the detective to cover for him with his son). In that interview, George said he had experience with the smell of a dead body and something like: "I'll be honest with you, I don't like the smell in the car..."

Even Lee was describing her as a diabolical liar.

What happened that they now all want to cover up when in the beginning they were being more forthright with incriminating evidence? I mean, I've seen where a parent will coverup for their child- but they are like that every breathing moment- they deny-deny, defend, lie, have amnesia, etc. Real button-lip kinda people. What caused george Cindy and Lee to do a complete turnaround?

JoAnn

I honestly think the reason why they are covering up, changing their statements now because they know the truth. I really believe that Casey may have confessed to one of her family members. Why else such a major change since after the 911 calls

Cindy I believe has conspired to make their statement's match. One example here. Casey said the last time she saw Caylee was June 8th. It was Cindy who had Casey later re-cant her statement to June 16th. George can not confirm he saw Cayle leave the house on June 16th too. I believe Cindy has a great amount of control here. No wonder why Casey is so messed up and I really do feel sorry for George. I have to wonder myself if Cindy has blackmailed George.

Personally I never believed the 911 calls weren't scripted or at least intended to point the finger of blame AWAY from Casey as well as Cindy and George, the registered owners of the death-smelling car. Imagine if the car had been stolen instead of towed to a local storage yard. Would Casey have been reported missing along with Caylee? Or was the plan to just leave the car there until Casey could figure out what to do about the smell?

I just rewatched the FBI interview w/ George and he clearly states that he was able to see clothing and the blue collapsible bin (which contained the illusive gas cans). I notice in his interview, although he seemed to be truthful, whenever they get close to a "sensitive" subject, he likes to go off into conversation with somewhat related, but meaningless information as to the investigation. There were lots of deep breaths in the interview, especially when the FBI agent says, although Casey is being vilified in the media, they are not far off, her actions have led us to believe certain things. George mentions Casey taking Cindy's car, after June 24th, then Cindy denies this took place...was there anything ever discovered about those two differant story's ?

This is one of those comments where I wish there were multiple thanks or thumbs up buttons.

Which, IMO is the reason he brought up the gas can caper to begin with. He thought he could use this to paint Casey as a gas thief and offer some form of cover for her. I recall listening to these interviews saying out loud, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, GEORGE?"
Gas cans? Mauwee?
Sheesh!

What I'm curious about is the laundry basket that Caylee was ultimately found in. Was this laundry basket used in the home or was stored in the garage with the other one. If it was used around the home, then KC would have easly access to it. If it was stored, I can't see that KC would be aware of its presence, kept as it was on a high shelf in the garage wrapped in a plastic bag. GA and CA would be aware of its location, but I can't see KC knowing that. This opens up the possibility that KC did not package the remains, but had help from either GA or CA. IMO I don't think it was CA.

As far as statement analysis goes the following exchange interested me...when telling the story of what transpired on the 16th, George lets a slight amount of present tense language slip in. If he is recalling from memory (something that really happened in the past) it would all be past tense...it's a small mistake, but it makes me wonder more if the 16th happened as he claims.

VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know where they were headed with the backpacks?

GEORGE ANTHONY: My daughter said that she was going to work, dropping her daughter off at the nanny’s house, and that was it. I give them both hugs, kisses and saw them go out the door like a typical thing that they’ve — that she’s done

VAN SUSTEREN: Nothing out of the ordinary?

GEORGE ANTHONY: Just smiles, hugs. Dad, we’ll see you tomorrow because I might be working a little bit late, type deal. And that was it.
