Price stabbed 39-year-old Joan Heaton nearly 60 times in 1989, killing her in her home on Metropolitan Drive in Warwick during the middle of the night.
Price was just 15 years old at the time.
The same night, he also murdered Heaton’s daughters, 10-year-old Jennifer and 8-year-old Melissa, stabbing Jennifer 62 times and crushing Melissa’s skull.
Price also killed another mother of two, stabbing 27-year-old Rebecca Spencer approximately 60 times in her home in July 1987. Spencer lived about a few hundred yards from the Heaton’s house.
About two weeks after the Heaton murders, Price, a freshman in high school, confessed to all four killings and later pleaded guilty to murder charges.
Now, at the age of 44, Price remains incarcerated and is facing life in prison on a first-degree attempted murder charge for stabbing a fellow inmate in April 2017 at a Florida prison, as well as a charge for possession of contraband in a prison. Prosecutors said he used a homemade knife with a five-inch blade.
If he isn’t convicted, his tentative release date is Dec. 15, 2019
