Jada Laboy, 15, was reported missing by family members on June 24 after she was last seen at the family’s home. Westerly Police Lt. Steven Johnson said Laboy is considered a “runaway” at this time, adding that the department is following some early leads, but is seeking help in locating her.

Social media posts shared by Laboy’s family on Monday indicated she may be trying to get to Arizona, but police said Tuesday that they believe she is still in the Westerly area and may be trying to hide with the help of friends.

Johnson said the department is expected to release additional information on its Facebook page later today.
