The 49-year-old Philadelphian was last seen leaving work more than two weeks earlier, in late December 1972.

Wimbish was a driver for the Pennsylvania Trucking Company, which was then located at 48th Street and Parkside Avenue in Philadelphia. His route took him from Philly to Scranton to Wilkes-Barre and throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.

Richard was supposed to spend the New Year’s Eve holiday with a female friend in Pleasantville, NJ, but never showed up. Richard’s 1967 green Cadillac sedan was located in the 100 block of Duval Street, Philadelphia on January 23, 1973, just several blocks from his home.

''Slatington, PA – Authorities are renewing efforts to solve the decades-old homicide of Richard Stewart Wimbish, a Philadelphia truck driver whose body was found in Trout Creek, Slatington Borough, on January 13, 1973.''

''Authorities reported Wimbish never made it to a planned New Year’s Eve trip with a friend in Pleasantville, N.J. His 1967 green Cadillac was later found on January 23, 1973, just blocks from his Philadelphia residence.

The Pennsylvania State Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Tips can be reported by calling 1-800-472-8477 or submitting information online at p3tips.com.''

Slightly eyebrow-raising that a truck driver was driving a late-model Cadillac.
