So sad.

Former world boxing champion Hector 'Macho' Camacho has been declared brain dead today after being shot in his native Puerto Rico, with his family facing the agonizing decision of taking him off life support as his state worsened.
Doctors had earlier said Camacho would survive after he was shot in the face while sitting in a car on Tuesday night in his hometown of Bayamon.
However his condition deteriorated overnight and his heart stopped at one point, said Dr Ernesto Torres, director of the Centro Medico trauma center in San Juan.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Hector "Macho" Camacho, the famed Puerto Rican boxer, is clinically "brain dead," a doctor said Thursday.

Camacho was shot Tuesday in front of a bar in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, police said.

Camacho, 50, was in the passenger seat of a car and next to him was a man who was shot twice and killed, police said.

That is shocking.

It's a household phrase, at least around here: Hec - tor MAAAAACHO Camacho!

I loved to watch him fight. I never liked the big boxers, too much hugging on each other. Hector, Ray (Boom Boom) Mancini & Sugar Ray Leonard were a few of my favorites to watch.

I so remember him, and I'm not a boxing fan. RIP Macho Camacho....

Several of the suspects were already serving time behind bars ... including three people who were in a federal penitentiary in Florida. U.S. officials transported the inmates by plane to Puerto Rico so they could face the judge.

Two other men were arrested ... one from a Puerto Rican jail, and another from his home in the early morning hours, not far from where the shooting happened nearly a decade ago.

Authorities say there were more people involved ... but those men won't have their time in court 'cause they were themselves killed in unrelated incidents in 2013 and 2015.
