Scott Clive, who went missing in 2002

Police are today carrying out investigations at Coronation Street in North Shieldsas part of the probe into the the 30-year-old's disappearance, in October 2002. Robert, who was known as Scott, moved to North Shields from Stranraer in Scotland, 10 months before he vanished. The labourer, who was living in a bedsit on Prudhoe Terrace, was reported missing by his family in Scotland after no-one heard from him for several days

Today, with searches now entering their fifth day, forensics officers were once again on the scene, while police officers, and members of Specialist Search and Welfare Support teams were also spotted. An area of Coronation Street remains cordoned off, and it is unclear how long the searches will continue.

New evidence suggests a man from North Tyneside who went missing more than 20 years ago was assaulted on the night of his disappearance.

Robert Scott Clive, known as Scott, was seen on CCTV shortly after 11pm on October 10, 2002, walking towards the Coronation Street area of North Shields.

Following our most recent appeal, new evidence has come to light which suggests moments after this sighting he was assaulted on that street.

As a result we are asking anyone who may have seen any type of disturbance or suspicious activity in that area to get in touch.
