Robin Williams found dead inside his home

In his more recent interviews, there seemed to be a sadness and despair coming from Robin I had not seen before. He seemed truly broken in some way. I thought maybe age or he was tired of keeping up the funny man routine. It was so obvious something was amiss.

With the show and other projects in the works, I thought it would be something he could rise above especially with the last stint in rehab. Evidently, it wasn't helpful to him and maybe it even added to his sorrow of life. So many comedians and artists are broken souls. They give so much of themselves to make others laugh and see the beauty yet some seem to be unable to find happiness in their own lives. Tragic.

Robin, thank you for giving it your all. Thank you for the characters, the laughter, the love, and the time spent entertaining us. You led a remarkable life and left a fabulous legacy of work to pass on from generation to generation. You will be warmly remembered and your death won't overshadow your life when we get caught up in your witty and endearing works. Rest in peace, Robin Williams. You were one hellova guy.

I am not a bit surprised. They go so high, they have to come down so far, then repeat.. The way some are able to go to high heights and deep lows in the first place is Bi- Polar Disorder/ Depression.

Comedian Robin Williams once told an interviewer that he struggled with depression, but hadn't been diagnosed with either "clinical depression" or bipolar disorder.

Williams, 63, who had been struggling with depression before his apparent suicide on Monday, told Terry Gross on the "Fresh Air" NPR radio show in 2006 that mania was something he imitated for characters he sometimes performed. But depression, he said, was more personal.

Robin Williams, I was fortunate enough to meet you in the late seventies when you performed live while wearing a pink shirt. I fell in love with you that night and followed your creative career knowing I would be immensely entertained. You never disappointed. A couple of years ago, I was involved in a discussion and was asked: "If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?" Without hesitation, I said, "Robin Williams because we would laugh the entire time." My dream died today.

“We look before and after,
And pine for what is not:
Our sincerest laughter
With some pain is fraught;
Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought.”

- from “To a Skylark” by Percy Bysshe Shelley

This swedish sunny summer morning suddenly turned cloudy, darker and and the feeling of loss is profound. Mr Williams you are still one of the greatest and will be missed by many.

He did a fabulous Popeye, it was one of my favorite cartoons growing up. So sad he was so depressed for so long. RIP nanu nanu

I think my favorites of his shows were Awakenings and One Hour Photo.
I believe those movies showed a more rounded picture of his talents. He was a
great comedian. But he was also a talented actor. And he could combine the two seamlessly.

I never met him but from seeing him I always thought he was probably a nice man too. A real man,
not some plastic hollywood version of a man.

I will miss him.

I've been so sad all day long. It's a big loss to my generation...the HBO standups, the Johnny Carson appearances, and then the movies. I remember when he would have a movie coming out, my brother and I would get so excited with anticipation. We knew it would be great, because he really was a genius. And he shared it with all of us. My favorite movies are are The Fisher King and Bicentenial Man. The Fisher King was so powerful, it made me look at life and people, in a whole different light and it made me feel hopeful. After watching Bicentenial Man, I couldn't talk about it for a month, without bursting into tears. It really made me think about the passage of time and life and death. It was a beautiful movie and I hope making it, gave Robin some kind of peace in death. My dad has never been much of a movie watcher. He's a simple country man from Arkansas, and what I remember him watching were westerns and The Smoky and the Bandit movies...except he loved, 'The World According to Garp', lol. He'd watch it and then say, 'that movie was weird', but the next time HBO showed it, he'd be right there watching it again. Robin was that good. He could reach anybody. RIP Robin Williams.

I'm so sad at this terrible loss. It may sound odd, but my family were stunned at the news as though he was a family member.

He is one of the most beloved stars for years and years. I am so sorry he was hurting so. May you Rest In Peace Mr. Williams, you are so loved.

Very saddened by this news.

Just woken up to this.

I don't generally get upset about celebrity deaths because I didn't know them etc but this has really got to me.

My childhood was filled with laughter because of this guy.

Rip robin :rose:

If alcohol Is a crutch, then Jack Daniels is a wheelchair

(Robin Wiliams)

He also played a very dark character in the Movie "Insomnia" (2001?)

I was also sad to hear about this. The Fisher King is one of my favourite movies. RIP.

Mike Greenberg on Mike and Mike is talking about depression. It's a sports radio show so it's getting some discussion in different areas because of this.

Such a shame!
I found below on the Lifeline Australia website, if you need help please call 131114 - 24 hour crisis line.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44
2, 535 people die by suicide every year
Every 10 minutes one new suicide attempt is made in Australia
Men account for 3 out of 5 deaths by suicide
Over 1000 people think about suicide every day

Seize the day. Because believe it or not, each and every one of us is going to stop breathing, turn cold and die.

Oh captain, my Captain.
