Robin Williams found dead inside his home

There is also a Dementia that's linked with Parkinson's. Maybe he wanted to go out while he was still on top of his game.

Yes. For some strange reason the news of his Parkinson makes me feel, well better is not the right word. I suppose it just makes more sense to me now.

I have, fortunately, never experienced the deep depression there has been so much talk of this week. Like everyone I have been sad, suffered serious losses, had my heartbroken. In other words, lived a life. However, I have never believed any thing was bad enough for me to take my own life.

However, I have always believed, and still do, that if I were faced with a truly debilitating disease I could and would go out on my own terms.
That comes in part from watching a good friend die, just a few years ago, from ALS ( AKA Lou Gerhig's disease). At the end, she was more than ready to go, but physically she was unable to even end her own life. So, I think I better understand Robin's decision.

He was truly one of the few comedic geniuses. By all accounts, and there have been so many, he was also a kind, generous and loving man.
He had demons, but he brought so much joy to so many people.

He has left a wonderful legacy and I hope that going forward we can all concentrate more on his life than his death. I think that would absolutely be what he would have wanted.

That's what I think.

Beautiful, chlban! I agree

I agree chlban! His passing has bothered me so much. I can't explain it, but it just makes me so sad. I know all about depression. I've lost family members to the disease. I don't like to talk about how I am feeling when I get down, I tend to just keep to myself. I just can't imagine the hell that Robin was in.RIP, dear man, you've done so much for everyone! I choose not to focus on your ending, but the legacy you left for us!

I will never be able to look at a "Super Moon" again and not see Robins face. He choose a time of a full moon with a meteor shower to end his life; I like to think he took a star to the other side. Rest in Peace, Robin, we will all miss your laughter and kindness. You will be missed.

Has anyone heard that the Westboro Baptist Church is planning to picket Robin Williams memorial? I only glanced at at headline, then it disappeared. I sure hope those ***holes are kept away. Bill Maher where are you?

 I really wish they would spontaneously combust

The Westboro Baptist Church is trying to spread its vile message of intolerance with a disgraceful protest of Robin Williams' funeral, but Planting Peace is not letting the hate take root.

"Robin Williams played many different roles in so many people’s lives, and giving back to others was at the top of that list," Aaron Jackson, co-founder of Planting Peace told The Huffington Post in an email Friday. "His appeal crossed generational boundaries. I was personally impacted when I heard of his passing. This is a small gesture to honor his legacy and the difference he made to so many."

According to The Independent, the group began using placards with negative slogans and photos of Williams at pickets this week. Westboro has been picketing technology firms like YouTube and Google as part of its "God hates the media" campaign.

The group may find info on Williams' funeral difficult to come by. According to MTV.com, the service will be held in San Francisco, but it will be "very private."

I think it's astounding and wonderful that he was able to maintain sobriety after such a diagnosis.

Before the announcement and just after his death was announced, this picture began appearing all over the internet and I immediately wondered about health concerns - he looks so frail and kind of blank in the face (a look that I unfortunately am extremely familiar with).

Robin poked fun at all religions equally and I loved him for it.

That's what I thought too. Brave man.

Is this one of the last pictures taken of him? I agree he looks a bit frail. Heart problems are always very visible I feel.

The last few days, combining this tragedy with another thread... leaves me with this picture in my mind which I had to find to share... I.AM.SPEECHLESS and unable to share my feelings and thoughts as I have so so many right now running through my mind... the stars are aligned in not a good way to bring so many memories and thoughts to front of mind in the last 2 days :grouphug:

CNN just did a nice little tribute to him on a show called Spotlight.

Responding to posts on the previous page. The drugs used in treating PD are known to make depression worse.

If you do anything today, make sure you take the time to watch this touching Robin Williams tribute video

These words from “Jack” now seem more poignant than ever: “Please, don’t worry so much. Because in the end, none of us have very long on this Earth. Life is fleeting. And if you’re ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky when the stars are strung across the velvety night. And when a shooting star streaks through the blackness, turning night into day ... make a wish and think of me. Make your life spectacular. I know I did.”

I have FIOS and I 'searched' for Robin Williams. About 10 or more of his movies are currently on rotation. I don't know if that happened because of his death or they were already there. But it's a good time to catch up on some of the good old ones if you've not seen them in awhile. I highly recommend " Awakenings'' if you love Williams and never saw it. It's a stunner !
