Hi all,

I am reaching out to this wonderful community on behalf of the Tassone family to see if any of you could maybe find more articles, or just more information in general on the murder of Rocco Tassone. I've hit a dead end and can't believe there's literally one article on his death and that's it.

Case Summary

On the 23rd of July 1986 Rocco had gone out on a rare night off from his job in the US Navy. He never came home, or called to let anyone know he would be staying out late. At 3 a.m. the body of a yet unidentified naked man was found on the train tressel bridge which was close to a road named River Road. He had been hit by a train, and was wearing only a pair of sneakers with no socks (despite having worn socks with his sneakers), and his watch. There was $30 found in one of his sneakers so it's not believed the motive was robbery. His clothes have never been recovered.
The family heard about the unidentified man on the tracks and called the local morgue, his brother and sister-in-law attended and identified the body as Rocco.
No suspects have ever been arrested despite local knowledge floating around that Rocco had been tied to a tree, naked and beaten.
There was also a truck accident close to where Rocco had been dumped.

The family have not yet been able to obtain any information from the police, this includes his autopsy report, his police file and to date they've not had much luck with the police helping them with any updates. As of January 2022, there was a new Detective who made a promise to look at Rocco's case, but looking on the Facebook page, there has been no updates since then.

I did find some yearbook photos of Rocco on Ancestry so I have passed them along to the family in the hopes it'll bring them some comfort, but I honestly can't find anything else about this and it's baffled me there is literally one newspaper article, especially given he was a serviceman.

I'd welcome your thoughts as I'd really like to read more about this case and maybe see if there is any way I could help the family get his case out there a bit more.
