Ronald Cummings Knows Where Haleigh Is: Needs $35,000 to get her back safe.

I'm really sorry but Hank Croslin's credibility is about nil in my opinion. Let's see, he made the call to TM on 8/29 which was about 6 days ago. Okay, the family, including Hank Croslin, had a major fight on 8/7. Somehow, I don't see RC and HC socializing anytime after the fight on 8/7 so I really choose to believe that this information is bogus and made up to take the heat off of his daughter. All of this is completely ridiculous. While I know there is virtually no chance at all that Haleigh is still alive, there is a very very slim chance, and I think all parties concerned, TM including, need to consider that fact and keep this stuff out of the media so as not to endanger her welfare and well being any more than it already is. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Ron's OWN LAWYER admits he talked to Hank Sr about this. SHeesh.

One other thought I have about everything that's been happening with TM and this case... perhaps this is a very very well orchestrated situation set up to try to turn the two against one another, which up til now the authorities have been unable to do. Just seems to me that TM is going out of his way to cause marital & family strife here, and it puts a grin on my face I must admit.

$35K put up for girl's return

Moffitt also offered to bring cash to Florida if it would mean the 6-year-old girl could be found, Miller said.

also......am I confused or have charges not been filed against Ronald over the fight?

Shoemaker began representing Cummings about a week ago when Cummings approached the St. Augustine attorney to defend him from pending charges involving a reported fight with his in-laws.

"Charges have not been filed yet, but obviously our role there is to get the charges dropped before they make a filing decision," Shoemaker said.

Cummings faces a charge of burglary with battery stemming from a confrontation with his brother-in-law last month.

Just a thought about all this talk about dropping charges. If Ron ends up in jail, could that give Misty an opportunity to get out of Dodge? Maybe that is why he needs to be free so to speak?

  • #86
I think everyone on here who has said this has something to do with drugs is spot on. It sounds to me like that is what is going on here!

Wowee. I wish I could change my poll. I debated for so long on one of two choices I had it narrowed down to, Can this be true? :waitasec:

I'm readin' through this thread with my mouth wide open saying, Huh?
And enjoying tehcloser's clever posts.
However, what comes to my mind is suppose $35,000 could bring Haleigh home unharmed, would she be returned to Ron and Misty? Especially with all that has gone on in the investigation - would LE place Haleigh back into the arms of the people who let her down.
Maybe I'm jumping ahead, but I wonder. What do you think?

One could only hope this child could be placed in a good home if these people especially her father are involved. I have thought (like others) Misty is involved from the very beginning. I cannot imagine LE putting that little girl back into this type of home. but stranger things have happened.

$35,000 in exchange for Haleigh Cummings? According to Texas EquuSearch, Misty’s father says that Ron told him if he had the money, he could get the missing 6-year-old back safe… Now, an Equusearch supporter has written a check out to Ron for $35,000...... but he won’t get it until he finds her. What's going on here? We'll talk to the director of Texas EquuSearch to sort it all out.

:waitasec:I am confused. It was Hank Sr. that called Tim? That is what I understood. Now, I would like to know and would hope that Hank has told LE about this ransom. Why now? 6 months later? So many questions, what has changed?

Miller said the figure was cited in a voice mail he received Tuesday from Cummings' father-in-law Hank Croslin.

In the voice mail, Croslin says Cummings had said he could get Haleigh "back" if he had $35,000, Miller said. http://www.palatkadailynews.com/articles/2009/09/03/news/news02.txt

So has Ronald cashed that check, yet? Is Haleigh back safe and sound?

No?

huh.

I don't mean to go off topic or accuse anyone, but is there not a "Larry" in the family? And who could this girl be that is talking to Haleigh?

"Snip" Ron's Lawyer: Girl Talks To Haleigh, Kept by Man "Larry"TJ Hart
Family and friends of Haleigh are treating with cautious optimism word that the Haleigh is alive and she has been talking to another girl.
This came to light Wednesday when HLN producer for the NG Show asked Terry Shoemaker what he thought about the claims by Ronald's father in-law that he could get his daughter back if he had $35,000. http://www.thesky973.com/pages/5138635.php

This is just so frustrating! Where is the FBI and or LE? How long have they known about this so called Larry and the little girl that claims to have spoken to Haleigh? I just don't get it! They have a first name so I assume they have the last name and address to this Larry.
Ron claims he has no idea who Larry is, well where did the $35,000 statement come from? Who asked for it?

Ron's Lawyer: Girl Talks To Haleigh, Kept by Man "Larry"

Shoemaker: I would deny that Ronald ever told misty’s father that. The story is complicated but Ronald has a friend who has this little four year old girl and this came up in our fdle conversation yesterday. Ronald was talking to the girl and the girl said she talks to Haleigh and he asked her what Haleigh tells her. She responded saying that she told her is that she is being kept by a guy named Larry. What Ronald said to Misty’s dad is that if we knew who Larry was and 35 thousand dollars then we could get her back. Ronald doesn’t have any idea who has Haleigh and if he had a million dollars wouldn’t know what to do with it to get her back.

I don't know if this girl was just a 4 year old listening to adults talk and wanted to comfort Ron and said that, but if that is the case, state that. I don't understand the $$$ remark though???? Was Ron saying this person ask for that? Or is he just throwing stuff out there? IDK

This has probably been mentioned before.. but isn't it more likely TM made mention to RC about the average/usual cost of a search? RC misunderstood and when relaying it to his father he assumed it to mean he himself (RC) had to pay 35k?

This just doesn't make sense. If Haleigh was being held for ransom this case would have been over 5 3/4's months ago.

I agree with your post and think this is what happened. RC may have been surprised at the cost of sending out search teams and made a statement like "Gee, if I had $35,000, I could find someone too."

I also think maybe TM is stirring the pot a little. Whether he is doing it on behalf of the family or Law Enforcement, I don't know, but I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time TM has been used to try to get the truth from someone in a missing persons case.

It is both heartening and frightening how quickly folks will pick up and believe any statement from anyone and run with it as theories or evidence. In much the same way that there still seems to be a disturbing large number of people that seem to think that there is in fact a "Zanny the Nanny" over in KC land, some are listening to all of this and not seeing the common and self serving element.

The only person to have stated that Haley could come home of Ron would put up $35k is MISTY'S FATHER. Hardly a disinterested party in deflecting attention from his daughter. This is misdirection. Smoke and mirrors to build doubt now or raise other made up theories in order to get the blaring spotlight off LE attention off of his daughter.

It's obvious TM saw it for what it is, and is calling the bluff. If he seems to be acting a little more blunt and harsh about this sort of thing recently, good for him. He is there to serve the missing child. Not the assorted family members under a cloud of suspicion. I am sure his experiences in the Anthony case have taught him some rather painful lessons, which he is applying to this case.

Actually, according to RC's atty:

Shoemaker: I would deny that Ronald ever told misty’s father that. The story is complicated but Ronald has a friend who has this little four year old girl and this came up in our fdle conversation yesterday. That is from RC's atty. RC told his atty this.

Also, if this whole 35k ransom thing was BS, when TM offered it to RC, wouldn't him and/or his atty have said "Thank you, but I don't know what HC is talking about"

  • #96
Is there really such a four year old girl or was this explanation made up? If she exists I think Haleigh and Larry must be her imaginary friends or something. I don't quite understand why Larry would allow Haleigh to talk to a four year old and how they could manage it without the four year old's parents and/or caretakers noticing something weird was going on.

IMO this is just BS.

Wow! I had the same thought Kikid. But I get the feeling that RC is cooperating with TM and LE to get SOMETHING out of MC! I am also beginning to wonder if RC married MC to give her a false sense of security. I think he hopes she'll slip up around him or at least he'll be around her enough to maybe pick up on clues or observe her reactions. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't want to believe RC would be disrespectful to TM after all the help he has provided.

Another thought about the $35,000 statement, it would make sense to me that in frustration RC would make the statement that if he only had $$$ for a reward then he could get Haleigh back. Not that he knew where she was, just that the $$$ might shake the truth out of somebody. Why he would say $35,000 though is a mystery. Maybe the same reward $ for another missing child?

<snip>

I read but haven't posted recently in this thread, so forgive me for chiming in here. Just wanted to say ITA with your interpretation SoSue. I seem to recall last year in the CA case hearing that a TES search costs around $35,000. I was listening to RC on NG recently and when he used wording to the effect of "bringing Haleigh back", he appeared on the verge of tears (and i took it to mean one way or another). RS is a hothead, and given the circumstances, I can see him saying in a heated, frustrated fashion something along the lines of "if I just had $35000 right now, I could get my daughter back".

I will bow back out now and continue to read your collective WS wisdom :)

Sure, there could be many reasons why he might have said $35k. Misunderstanding, whatever. BUT there is no misunderstanding his atty saying RC told him he "has a friend with a four year old girl who talks to Haleigh. When asked what they talk about, Haleigh said a man named Larry has her". That's pretty cut and dry. So is the fact that RC hasn't seemed to try to find out who this Larry person is or where the little girl sees them. I wouldn't let the little girl or her parents out of my sight til they helped find her
