Roof Collapse Kills At Least One At Local Restaurant

One woman died and 9 other people were taken to hospitals after a roof collapsed at a Lubbock restaurant today during lunch hour. Lubbock fire department Captain Doyce Ewing said authorities are still unsure of what caused the roof to collapse at the Little Panda Restaurant at 9th and Slide around 12:20 p.m.

My daughter heard on the news that Taco Bell got out of that building awhile back because it was unsafe. The 911 was played and she said it was awful. I don't know how such a thing could happen when businesses are supposed to be inspected, or at least I hope so. Firefighters say that high winds could have contributed or the wet weather. If high winds around here did cause roofs to fall in, no one would have roofs.
