RULED OUT: Have we found Anna? Possible match to NamUs case UP 9597 - *NO MATCH*

Annasmom, I am so sorry this happened! (((HUGS)))))

Thank you, Rosie and others. Later last night I Googled the case the man had mentioned (Linda Uhlig). The one hit on Google was a Websleuths entry from Feb. 12, 2009, but when I looked at the forum, that entry had been deleted. I don't know what that was about and actually don't want to know, but for some reason I was perplexed about how (or why) somebody could just phone me up and think I would want to hear theories about a serial murderer.

I do recall reading about Linda in the search for Anna, I believe she was found on Purisima Creek Road near Hwy 1 in 1972. On a Zodiac Killer board, she was mentioned a few years ago if I recall.

Annasmom,

The person who called has no heart, go with your heart and let it go as the ignorant and selfishness need not grab at our souls.
Happy Easter and please smile the terrific smile of yours!

xx

Are these the remains they ruled out Joseph McStay for also?

IDK. I'm not following the McStay case and IDK if there is a thread for these remains in the UID area or the McStay area of WS. You might want to start a thread for the male Purisima Creek remains.

Not a very heartening subject. Those remains were positively identified as belonging to a hiker who went missing a couple of years ago. No foul play was suggested or indicated.

Thank you Anna's Mom. I appreciate your perspective.

My phone has been down for a couple of days and should be up this week - poverty sucks! The Uhlig case (actual spelling: Ohlig - Robert Greysmith got the spelling wrong in his book ZODIAC) has been looked at. She was a young woman who appears to have been hitch-hiking when whe was murdered and her body was dumped on Purissima Creek Road just east of the intersection with Verde Road. There is NO reason to think that this case has any relationship to Anna. However, I have suspected that the "Wild Man" with the ax that confronted Joe Ford and Annasbro may be involved - only because of the location of where the body dumped and the nature of her wounds. Another possibilty is a serialkiller who was operating in Santa Cruz and San Jose at this same time who would pickup and murder co-eds similar to Ohlig's injuries. But, as stated before, none of this relates to Anna other than it occurred on PC Road. And remember, we had another unrelated murder that occurred on PC Road a few years later that Annasmom coincidently played piano at the victim's funeral.

It's been at least 1 1/2 years since this thread was started... and there's still no word yet?

I've been wondering too, MagicRose99. The NamUs profile was last updated May 2013 and still reads, "sample submitted, tests not complete" for DNA.

(I don't know what was updated in May, I've been checking for DNA status updates and rule out updates. Neither has changed on the NamUs profile since this thread has been started.)

Praying for answers soon.

I had an e-mail Monday from the man in charge of Anna's case at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children saying he would check with their own DNA department to see what was going on. I haven't heard anything yet.

A wait of one and a half years with no end in sight is pathetic

I have a question. Has the lab even let anyone know if they were able to get a testable DNA sample from this piece of bone? Thanks

  • #374
We are still waiting to find out about a viable dna sample from the speciman. Once that comes in, the dna samples can be compared relatively quickly, I think. Provided the types of dna are comparable. I think NCMEC was working on getting samples from the Waters family.

No. There has been no word from ANYONE despite repeated letters and phone calls from us. At this point, I would be grateful if all of you would send e-mails to the San Mateo coroner's office, asking why. What do we have to lose? We have been "nice" for a year and a half now. Yet another Waters relative, Anna's aunt, has died with no answer to this terrible mystery.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of another of Anna's relatives.

With all due respect, I don't believe the hold up is with the coroners office. The hold up would be with the private lab which currently has the speciman. It would be nice to know what the private lab is doing, if they believe they can get a sample or not.

If I may respectfully suggest keeping in mind honey attracts more bees than vinegar when addressing the coroners office.

It looks like the case file for NamUs UP 9597 has been updated on 11/29 with a new case manager. Though, no new rule out's added and the incorrect information regarding the DNA has not been corrected.

Maybe Dr. Doogie can make a call to this new case manager, introducing himself and letting the new case manager know Anna's family has been waiting on results close to a year. Perhaps this new case manager will be more interesting in going the extra mile to keep us posted on the wait and try to expedite with the lab.

I've bumped this older post up so that we have the name of the case manager handy. Doogie plans to make some calls today.

Interesting. I see that the namus casefile was updated on August 2nd. nothing new on the dentals or dna, and no new rule-outs, so I wonder what was updated?

Praying answers come soon!

~ the new case manager?

No, the new case manager was added back in November or December of 2012.

No idea what the change was made a few days ago on the 2nd.

I wish we would hear something.
