I think Russell Crowe would do a great job. Are the Aussies ready for this yet?
Is Terri?
Tom Cruise......no......you need a genuine Aussie, with that special accent.
I don't think it can be faked. Tom just wouldn't look the part at all.......
I vote for Russell when the time comes to do this. Even with his hot temper....

Heh! Russel Crow is actually a New Zealander - but he went to Oz as a small child.

i have no doubt he will do a fine job playing Steve Irwin.

don't know if i'll be able to watch the film unless they change the ending (of course not!) cos i'll howl all over again. :(

Just saw on the news that Russell Crowe is in negotiation to make a film about Steve Irwin. He will of course, play Steve. Anyone else heard any thing. What does everyone think?

Yes, there's a bit about this in the Oct 2/06 Star Magazine. I've looked for a link there but there's nothing yet.

According to the mag, Crowe said "he knows they're going to make a movie about Steve because he was such an original chracter and he wants to play him."

From this article it doesn't sound like there's anything yet to negotiate.

A friend of Crowe's apparently said, and I quote from the Star "Russell feels he'd be perfect for the role because he had such a great understanding of who Steve was."

Is Toni Collette too old to play Terri? she's Australian, of course, but i have no doubt she could get an Oregonion accent dead-on, so talented she be.

if she wouldn't be too old, i could see she and Russell Crow making a fab film of Steve Irwin's life! :)

YW.:) I'm starting to feel like the spokesperson for Star, lol. I usually just buy it because there are 2 crosswords in it but there's a lot to read in it this week!

I think Toni Collette would do great as Terri....as for Rusty Crowe playing Steve...that one Im not so sure about.

Ok here I go again......with another I don't know.....I don't know Toni Collette.
I wouldn't worry about age though......if you think she might be alright for the part.
I think if Crowe dyed his hair and with a bit of work.....he could do it. But, you probably have others. I didn't know he was a New Zelander, but he spent a large amount of time in Oz. I bet this(movie )doesn't get any start until many months away. All the Aussie's would know who to pick the best.......
I trust their opinion totally....Even if Dingo thinks no Crowe...:)

I am!:) I think Russell and Steve have one thing in common and that's passion! It seems like they were friends and I think Russell would do absolutely great!

Russell Crowes passion is his temper lol.

I can see him as Steve though..or maybe the guy they used to get to pretend to be Steve on some comedy show....he looked just like him!

Toni Collette as Terri, I don't think so lol

I like Michelle's suggestion, Laura Dern...

I just watched an interview with Russell Crowe on Show Biz (the Headline News channel). He is outraged that it's being reported that he's negotiating to do a movie about Steve. It is not true and he's upset that even the New York Times has reported this.

He said Steve was his friend, they just got over the funeral and dealt with the memorial and for people to say he's negotiating over his "friends grave" is disgusting (or words to that effect).

Yes, Russell is right.........for sure........it is a bit early just after the funeral.
Like I said yesterday it probably will be over a year or so before anyone would even think of starting this. It is mere talk.....and chatter.....it is too early.
I did come up with a great actress for the part.......Renee Zellweger. She can make herself into about anyone. She is great at acting. But, I hope they don't even start looking for at least a year. Even then it is early..........

ooooh, Zellewegger would be perfect...she can put on a little weight, & dark hair....you're right; she's able to make herself into just about anyone....she would also have the right mouth/teeth features, imo....

Im glad you thought that, Close Enough.........I was looking at a picture of her in the Star Mag......and I could see with her features that she could transform into Terri quite well. Plus, she gets awards for her acting ,she is so great at it.
I know it is so, so, early........I think we all want to see Steve and his great work on film forever, and so we have escaped to the future here....Way, way ahead of when this will happen. Or should happen for that matter.

Yeah I dunno about Zellewegger, she's a bit short and why would she need to put on weight, Terri is stick thin lol

I thought terri was really thin. Renee would not need to put any weight on that is for sure.

No Zellwegger is odd looking .Small eyes, puffy cheeks.Terry is to attractive for funny old Rene' tp play the role IMO.
