Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to “kick the enemy out” of Russia’s territory after it emerged that Ukrainian troops were in control of dozens of Russian villages a week into Kyiv’s surprise cross-border incursion.

The scale of the incursion became clearer on Monday when Putin held a meeting with local officials from the border regions as well as some of Russia’s top security, government and law enforcement personnel.

The acting head of the Kursk region, Aleksey Smirnov, told Putin that 28 settlements in his region were now under Ukrainian control, adding that Ukrainian troops had managed to advance some 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) into the territory across a 40-kilometre (25-mile) wide stretch of the border.

Since the beginning of the “mini invasion” of Russia over a week ago, invading forces have been able to capture as much territory as Vladimir Putin managed to annex in Ukraine over the last eight months.

Knewz.com has learned that around 74 settlements in the Kursk region are currently under Ukrainian control, per President Volodymyr Zelensky.

''In a statement, Reuters said that the Hotel Sapphire, where a six-person Reuters crew was staying, was hit by a strike on Saturday.
"One of our colleagues is unaccounted-for, while another two have been taken to hospital for treatment," the agency said.''

"Three other colleagues have been accounted for. We are urgently seeking more information, working with the authorities in Kramatorsk, and supporting our colleagues and their families. We will give an update when we have more information," it added.

"What is happening now in Kyiv is unbelievable horror. Pray for us," Kira Rudick, a member of Ukrainian Parliament, said on social media. She later added, "What happened today? Nightmare."

This is an alarming announcement by Russia. As I reported in March, Russia came alarmingly close to using a nuclear weapon in Ukraine in 2022, and already has a lower threshold for nuclear use than the U.S.:“Russia is adjusting its protocols for nuclear weapon use in light of enhanced Western support for Ukraine, Russian state media outlet TASS reported, citing Russian government minister Sergei Ryabkov. Deputy foreign minister Ryabkov told TASS on Sunday that Russia is in the "advanced stages" of work to revise a key document outlining the "parameters and conditions" for the use of its nuclear arsenal. Under the current document from 2020, Russia has the greenlight to use nuclear weapons if an enemy "uses such weapons or other weapons of mass destruction" against Russia or if an enemy attack is launched which "threatens the very existence of the state.

"North Korea has started sending troops to fight with Russia in Ukraine, South Korea's spy agency has said as Seoul warned of a "grave security threat".

According to the spy agency, 1,500 troops have already arrived in Russia - with anonymous sources telling South Korean media the final figure could be closer to 12,000.

This comes as evidence mounts that North Korea is supplying Russia with ammunition, as recently demonstrated by the recovery of a missile in Ukraine’s Poltava region.

On Thursday, Ukraine's spy chief Kyrylo Budanov claimed that there were nearly 11,000 North Korean infantry troops training in eastern Russia to fight in Ukraine."

16 years
Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira agreed Monday that he caused one of the most extraordinary leaks of national defense secrets in years and agreed to accept a prison sentence of 16 years -- what could be the longest sentence in an unlawful retention case.

According to the signed plea agreement filed with the court, Teixeira, 22, agreed to plead guilty to all six counts charging him with willful retention and transmission of national defense information. In exchange, prosecutors agreed not to charge him with additional counts under the Espionage Act.

There was a thread because I posted in it. Weird it disdipered.

Something new.

Pentagon secrets leaker Jack Teixeira set to be sentenced, could get up to 17 years in prison

Breaking: Ukraine has fired US-made ATACMS missiles into Russia’s Bryansk region, Russian state media has reported, citing the country’s Defense Ministry, after the Biden administration gave Kyiv the green light to use the longer-range weapons against targets inside Russia.

BREAKING
Ukraine has fired British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles into Russia, a source has told Sky News.

The UK and Ukraine have not yet confirmed the use of the Storm Shadow missiles in Russia but their deployment has been widely reported in British media.

Using US ATACMS to fire into Russia and now Storm Shadow immediately thereafter, it just meant to try to draw the US and UK deeper into the war. We live in dangerous times folks. We must proceed wisely.

For a nation that keeps saying it doesn’t want any of the wars to expand we sure go about it in a peculiar way …supplying the weapons and vetoing peace talks Willy nilly.

What I am afraid of: 1) there are no “limited” nuclear conflicts, fallouts are fallouts
2) there are at least nine countries officially recognized as having nukes. I am very much afraid of the domino effect.

....
Moscow had warned the U.S. and its NATO allies for months against granting Ukraine permission to fire Western missiles into Russia, and Mr. Biden's weekend decision to permit such strikes drew stark new warnings from lawmakers and Russian media close to President Vladimir Putin that the U.S. was escalating the nearly three-year conflict at the risk of sparking a new world war.
...
Two U.S. officials also told CBS News that Russia had fired a ballistic missile, not an ICBM on Thursday, with one saying it appeared to have been an intermediate range ballistic missile launched from just east of Volgograd, Russia, to target Dnipro.

''Russia is ready to carry out cyber attacks on the United Kingdom and other allies in a bid to weaken support for Ukraine, a senior minister will warn later.
Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Pat McFadden, whose role includes responsibility for national security, is set to tell a Nato meeting that the Kremlin could target British businesses and leave millions without power.
It is the latest in a series of warnings about the cyber-warfare capabilities of Russia, which McFadden is to call a "hidden war" being waged against Ukraine.
He is also expected to single-out Russia's Unit 29155, which the government says has carried out a number of attacks in the UK and Europe.''
''A number of unidentified drones have been spotted over three airbases in Britain, the United States Air Force (USAF) has confirmed.
The incidents, which occurred between Wednesday and Friday, saw "small unmanned aerial systems" spotted over RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall, in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell in the neighbouring county of Norfolk.
The USAF, which uses the bases, said it was unclear at this stage whether the drones were considered hostile.''

KYIV, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Ukraine's capital of Kyiv is under a sustained Russian drone attack, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said early on Tuesday.
"The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) attack on the capital continues," Klitschko said on his Telegram messaging channel. "Air defence forces are operating in different areas of the city. (Drones) are entering the capital from different directions."
Reuters' witnesses heard a series of explosions in what sounded like air defence systems in operation.
