" 'I will not sign'.

Zelensky reveals details of the agreement with the US.

View attachment 565929

It is already known what provision in the agreement between Ukraine and the US regarding Ukrainian deposits led to the objection of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

As he revealed,
it is not only about security guarantees,
but also about rates.

'Ukraine received $100 billion in aid from the United States - not $500, not $350, not $250 (…) -
and we are very grateful for that.

And the cost of this war today is $320 billion:
- $120 billion from Ukraine,
- $100 billion from Europe,
- plus other partners, such as Japan,
- about $15 billion.
And $100 billion - the United States of America.
This is the economics of this tragedy' -
Zelensky said.

'If the United States,
our friendly partner,
votes in Congress to grant us $ 50 billion in aid,
we will be obliged to return $ 100 billion.

I have a question that no one can answer honestly.

When the United States sells weapons to Israel, Qatar, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia,
do they ask them for 100% subsidies?'-
he asked.

He then firmly emphasized that
he 'will not sign something
that 10 generations of Ukrainians will later pay for'."

Yes, I was reading recently the US is chagrined because, after withdrawing from Afganistan, other powers, such as China, have been invited in to develop mining, etc.

Trump might just be strategizing that at least, after abandoning Ukraine to the Russians or whomever eventually gets control, the US will be in line for royalties when other countries invest in actually developing those resources.

Volodymyr Zelensky said he would be willing to "give up" his presidency in exchange for peace ahead of the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"If you need me to leave this chair, I am ready to do that. And I also can exchange it for Nato membership for Ukraine," the Ukrainian president said in response to a question during a news conference.

Zelenskyy: Ukraine 'making progress' with US on resources deal

Zelenskyy has been asked about a deal on US access to Ukraine’s critical minerals.

“We are making progress,” he said, adding that Ukrainian and US officials had been in touch about the deal earlier in the day. “We are ready to share,” the Ukrainian leader said, but made clear that Washington first needs to ensure Vladimir Putin “ends this war”.

Russia launched a record 267 drones into Ukraine overnight into Sunday destroying infrastructure and killing at least 3 people, one day before the world marks the third year of Moscow's full-scale invasion.
Zelenskyy said Russia has launched nearly 1,150 drones, more than 1,400 guided aerial bombs and 35 missiles this week

The worst attack occurred in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where a missile strike killed one person and injured five. The attack inflicted heavy damage on the city's civilian infrastructure, including 12 apartment buildings, an infrastructure facility, a retirement home, and a church.
The strike also caused damage to social and industrial buildings, a gas station, and multiple vehicles.

"Urgent summit in Brussels.

'A decisive moment for Ukraine and Europe'

On March 6,
a special European Union summit dedicated to Ukraine and European security will be held in Brussels,
announced the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

'I have decided to convene a special meeting of the European Council on March 6.
This is a decisive moment for the security of Ukraine and Europe',
Costa wrote on the X platform.

'During consultations with European leaders,
I heard about the shared commitment to address these challenges at the EU level:
to strengthen European defence
and to decisively contribute to peace on our continent
and to the long-term security of Ukraine',
he added."

Protest against the war in Ukraine on the streets of Brussels

I stand with Ukraine. Russia were the invaders, somehow we are standing with invaders? Nope. How dare this government turn this around to make Ukraine the bad ones. We now seem only to want to ROB them of what natural resources that leaves them rich. Nope to Putin and #47 and of course Musk. The 3 go hand in hand. IMO

Thanks for the link and info.

So up to now they haven't been a major exporter as it seems they've been producing less than national demand. Perhaps that could change in future.

I don't know how much that reserve estimate compares to other countries or exactly where the reserves are located or how easy they'd be to extract. Isn't some of it in the Black Sea near Crimea and off the part where Odessa is? The parts Russia has been taking and trying to take....but I stand to be corrected on whether or not there's suspected or proven gas or anything else there.
Yes, Hunter Biden (president son) was hired for the BOD for Burisma Energy, for a million month. Biden gave him and Bidens brother unconditional pardons covering 15 years. Congress investigated. Big US scandal. I think there's a thread on WS.

Moo, that's why US money flowed freely to Ukraine.

Not buying his math from US aid. I've posted several articles showing more. They received money from the department of defense and from USAID. We have given the most as one country. I think it's 27 European countries combined.

Glad he's not gonna sign, hoping everyone can move forward and he receive the support he request from his European allies.

Moo...

Yes, the Afghan withdrawal was a train wreck. That was under the Biden administration. Moo

Zelenskyy: Ukraine 'making progress' with US on resources deal

@Dotta just posted up thread .... Zelenskyy saying it's a bad deal and robbing Ukraine of their future.

He's also willing to resign for a NATO membership.

Now, he's considering the deal but only if Putin "ends the war".

Moo.... He's really playing this in the media.

"Russian Assets to Help Ukraine:

'Time to Take the Next Step'

Estonia plans to raise the issue
of using frozen Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine
at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.

'It's time to take the next step',

Estonian Foreign Minister told Reuters.

On Friday,
Reuters reported that
Russia could agree to use frozen Russian assets in Europe to rebuild Ukraine,
but only if some of the funds are used to support Ukrainian territories controlled by Russian forces.

Estonia, however, has rejected the idea.

European Commission expressed its support:

'We support any proposal that will ensure that Russia pays for this catastrophic war and aggression.

The (Russian) assets are something we are discussing,
and any further options,
including sanctions and ways to provide financial support to Ukraine',
EC spokeswoman said in Brussels.

The European Commission was also asked whether such confiscation of Russian assets would be lawful.

'At EU level,
we are focusing on the use of profits from the frozen assets of the Russian central bank'.

After Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022,
Western countries froze almost half of Moscow's foreign exchange reserves,
(about 300 billion euros)."

What I liked about "Independence Day" was that "Earth", got together to defeat the alien space invaders. I wish that collectively, people stopped warring with other countries, stopped worrying about "borders" and just started focusing on helping each other out. Imagine what we could accomplish if we all stood together. "Earth" focus. Sigh.

I think if there really were alien space invaders, that would happen. Nothing unites people together like a common threat.

"Zelensky's shock reaction
to Trump team saying
he's hours away from signing huge mineral deal."

Forget defense, our crumbling infrastructure is what needs an overhaul. We have major bridges that collapse, or are coming close to needing to be replaced. Water systems in many large cities are a joke.

All people do now, is react to infrastructure issues, rather than proactively work on replacement.

Ukraines infrastructure has been devastated by this war, is the United States going to fix everything there first?! Where does it end?
I can't imagine the US being expected by anyone to rebuild Ukraine by themselves. I'm sure Ukraine has plenty of people who would like to participate in the rebuilding of their own country. I wouldn't expect the US to do that or pay for it out of the goodness of their hearts. Obviously if any US companies win contracts then that could be good for all, but I think that would be more likely to be in specialised areas like mining than in rebuilding cities. And when things work that way the US company can make profits, and then they pay taxes to the US government, so it's a positive for the US taxpayer, as well as bringing badly needed metals to market.

I think the important thing for outside countries is that they can help to provide some balance in some way to deter Russia from invading again.

At minimum, he's being very rude and insulting to Zelensky and the country of Ukraine. He's menacing and trolling them by acting friendly with Russia, allowing them to demand a lot of Ukraine's territory. He's blatantly lying about Russian not invading Ukraine and starting the war.

Why not continue to treat them as an ally, then ask them in a friendly way about allowing companies to mine there? Until Trump came along, our relations with Ukraine were very good.

I'm glad that President Trump is being very forceful in dealing with Zelenskyy because that's what's needed to get this war ended. JMO.
