The EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said it has become clear that “the free world needs a new leader” after the clash between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.

“Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine,” Kallas said in a social media statement.

I think this might be the moment when the free world truly understands that the US is not its leader any more.

It's much more significant than just showing weakness to the dictator Russia, though (I'll check my door handles for Novichok from hereon), the display put on by Trump and his court jester today was utterly and completely disgusting to watch. It was playground bullying on an international scale - literally! More than that, it was the demeaning of a man who's country is literally in danger of not existing soon.

A man of any dignity does not conduct himself in such a manner.

The world is a far, far more dangerous place than it was a few hours ago.

NATO is done. Europe needs its own defence force, the US is following a path of Isolationism.

Very true but two things:

1) How much damage can he create during this office? He's only been in position a couple of months and just look at what he's already done - today alone (imo) is one of the most significant negative historical events in hundreds of years.

2) "not eternal" - you sure about that? He previously attempted an insurrection because he didn't like the result of a lawful election. Is there any reason to think that he won't do that again? People have criticised Zelennskyy for not having an election - that's not unusual or undemocratic in time of war though - Churchill did it, after all.

It would be "curious" if the US somehow became involved in a (phoney) war in the next few years which would give the President cause to decide to cancel upcoming elections.

Go for it. Him and his family/sycophants have had lots of comms with Russia since the 80's. They saw him as a patsy long before a lot of us did.

They are already working on the SAVE program and privatizing the USPS (for that reason imo)

Russian drones struck a medical facility and triggered a fire late on Friday in Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, and also hit several other targets, according to Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Drones also hit an area near a filling station and a building close to a high-rise apartment building, Reuters reports, citing Terekhov.

Kharkiv Oblast governor Oleh Syniehubov said all the strikes were in central districts of the city and emergency crews were working at the different sites.

Trump has made that pretty clear. The UK isn't part of the EU anymore (to my chagrin) but they still suck up to the rapist, felon that is their president.

I've never been one to worry about world events and current affairs. Personal stuff people around me worry about but I've always been laid back about stuff, too laid back many people have said; the reason I tend not to worry about things is because I see through a lot of stuff and can recognise when people are overreacting to things, we in the western world have it pretty good and as long as you don't go out of your way to mess your life up then things will be pretty sweet on balance. People like drama, basically.

People like Donald Trump genuinely worry me, though. The things he says are often completely irrational, illogical, nasty, sadistic, along with a string of other things I could call them.

People really need to worry about Donald Trump. I'm certainly not qualified to make a diagnosis so this is purely my personal opinion, but he seems to have a multitude of personality problems going on here. At the most basic level - how can anyone publicly demean the elected head of state of a ******g allied country in the way that he did today? It was disgusting in every conceivable way.

For everyone supporting this type of behavior - when he does this to you or to someone who you care about, don't complain!

I am proud of them, all of them. I think so. In such a short and planned out time, this has happened along with the other inhumane things T and M have put into place. I want to believe there is some 'secret' force of good overcoming evil, T, waiting to jump out here, USA. I always do though, maybe this time. They, in former power or present, on some level, CANNOT be just sitting around being simply disgusted like we are. Not that we are simply sitting around. Be loud wherever you can .

For the first time in my 53 years it looks like that the "free world" will no longer include the USA.

That is incredibly depressing
