I think a lot is likely going on behind the scenes, with regard to Ukraine's allies.

Yesterday I read an Aussie article where our prime minister spoke about Australia possibly sending peace-keeping forces to Ukraine. (Blue berets he called them)

He said it is not certain, but alluded to talks in the planning.

Government sources say if Australia does contribute to a peacekeeping force they would go in the “blue beret” of the UN peacekeeping force.

We haven’t been asked for anything, there’s proposals discussed,’’ he said.

Not about Ukraine but US Judge declares Trump's firing of Watchdog agency head is illegal.

So at least you have admitted your post is not about Russia attacks Ukraine, but is more Websleuth members attack Trump. It's difficult enough to wade through the misinformation on this particular forum in terms of Russia attacks Ukraine, without having to disregard the posts that are only here to post their displeasure of President Trump. When they say Europe needs to contribute more - we do in fact contribute as much as America but the problem is Trump as usual exaggerates how much America has in fact in paid also.
Europe does need to contribute more, in both leadership and funds. So why are so many people in Europe, UK and other countries bashing Trump, but still saying they need the US dollars and security? JMO MOO

"In the past three years, Ukraine’s arms production capacity has grown not only in terms of volume but also of the range of military hardware that can be produced. This growth has been largely driven by the development of new technologies, as the scale and nature of the war have created a demand for military innovation.

One of the most notable advancements has been in uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), with Ukraine significantly increasing the number of domestically produced UAV models. Technological progress has been further accelerated by government initiatives, such as Brave1, a state-led platform that provides assistance to military technology developers and fosters collaboration between industry stakeholders.

In just under two years since its launch, Brave1 has grown to support over 1500 military technology start-ups.

Recent developments seem to be heading in the right direction to achieve those ends: prioritizing innovation and technological advancement along with fostering a competitive, transparent market should help to create an environment that is more attractive to sustained foreign investment, ensuring that the industry is economically viable in the longer term."

Because its a fact tbh. Why would people not criticise him after his actions the last month? As far as I care I would not mind if he left Nato.

French Senator blasts Trump as Nero and calls him a traitor. JMO

"French Senator Claude Malhuret this week delivered a blistering rebuke of President Donald Trump and X owner Elon Musk , and he compared their reign to that of an infamously debauched Roman emperor.

During a speech discussing European support for Ukraine against Russia, Malhuret lobbed insults directly at both the president and his billionaire benefactor.

"Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine in charge of purging the civil service," he said in reference to Musk's acknowledged use of the dissociative anesthetic . "We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

The full senate video and speech is here, with English subtitles. He says a lot of positive things also about Americans who are standing up to this.

Oops the subtitles are missing - you have to activate them while watching the video. Click on the subtitles icon (file looking shape) then go to settings to change it to English!

On X you can find the video with English subtitles already superimposed. Just put "French senator" in the searchbox. He says a lot more. He is apparently a centrist and a Doctor. JMP

Tbh I agree there is a lot of misinformation but not in the way you mean. I have read things such as the Eu are going to take back Donbas when that has never been implied.

Yes, absolutely Australia does need to contribute more. So why haven't they been asked before for anything, or why haven't they taken the initiative before being asked? JMO MOO

Tbh a peace deal that would be simple to arrange - just say that if Russia enters Ukraine again illegally that they will get automatic entry to NATO.

Wow, we need to even that up. Moo...
Pray tell, how is country with a population of 40 million going to equalize a trade imbalance with a country of 350 million. Inquiring minds would like to know.
As far as I can tell, the only part that Musk has in this entire conversation is that Russia has offered the US a joint Mars project during their recent meetings, a project that would involve Musk. (linked below)

Although I understand the need to point out what Musk wears to the Oval Office, considering the extraordinary focus on Zelenskyy's attire.

imo

This Bloomberg link outlines the 'business opportunities' offered by Russia to the US in their recent meetings:
  • a joint US-Russia mission to Mars, involving Musk also
  • Putin offering to work with the US to mine Russian rare earth metals
  • to sell 2 million tons of aluminium to the US if the US lifts sanctions
  • Russia and the US forming a joint venture for aluminium production in Siberia
It says that Russia is looking for ways to exploit Trump's pragmatism. Putin’s strategy toward Trump reflects his training as a Soviet KGB agent in the Soviet KGB - which uses similar “mirroring” techniques to gain the trust of recruitment targets.

Putin Envoy Dangles Business Ties to Lure US to Ukraine Deal
And I bet a lot of those rare earth minerals are in Ukraine's Russian occupied territory. How magnanimous of him.

They have contributed 3 billion by the sounds of it.

We have been contributing. While also watching our own backs against the ever-present threat of China.

Cutting intelligence sharing is a gamble with Ukraine's future

James Waterhouse
Ukraine correspondent in Kyiv

US intelligence sharing is central to Ukraine's survival.

In the early battle of Kyiv it was shared intelligence from the US which allowed Ukraine to repel Russian forces in a way few predicted.

It's American information that helps alert mobile phones if there is an air strike – a nightly occurrence.

It also allows Ukrainian troops to identify the locations of invading Russian soldiers and launch long-range missile strikes.

The scope of this US pause is not yet clear.

But this is a White House approach which is less an unpopular measure to force Ukraine to negotiate, and more a reckless gamble with its future.

The question now is – where will Donald Trump stop?

That makes sense, but I have little hope that it will happen. I would love it if both sides laid down their arms and gave up the war. JMO MOO

It was more in reference to an earlier post that Trump was doing something illegal - in terms of cutting intelligence to Ukraine - this was just to show some other illegal thing he is doing. He is not doing good things right now JMO MOO

Both sides?

If the aggressor puts down their arms, this war is over.

  • Macron said European military forces could be sent to Ukraine if a peace deal is signed to ensure that Russia does not invade its neighbour again. He said any European forces deployed would not fight today or at the frontline, but would be there to guarantee any peace in Ukraine once it had been signed.
  • France and Britain are aiming to finalise with Ukraine a peace plan, possibly “in days”, to present to the US, according to Reuters. The details of the plan have not been divulged, but would likely initially outline a short truce but also eventually include broader security guarantees.
