A timeline of the past week here from Sky News. Trump withdrew intelligence AFTER Zelensky sent a positive statement to Trump

"A statement from Mr Zelenskyy came a few hours later, describing his disastrous meeting with Mr Trump as "regrettable" and saying Kyiv was "ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible".

Crucially, he said: "We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky - ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure - and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same."

"Intelligence sharing paused - Wednesday 5 March

Despite the seemingly more positive tones being struck in Washington surrounding Ukraine following Mr Zelenskyy's letter, the US announced yesterday it was stopping sharing intelligence with Kyiv."

The hopes and fears of Ukrainians

""It doesn't matter that President Zelensky doesn't have a suit - he has a heart," she added."

"She said: "We have cards and our cards are our people and our friends."

In Pokrovsk, Donetsk, overnight strikes also caused damage to buildings and infrastucture

Russian attacks in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine have killed five people and injured nine others, regional prosecutors say.

The prosecutors say that Russian troops attacked residential areas of Kostyantynivka, Pokrovsk, Lyman, Velyka Novosilka and Dobropillia.

Two aerial bombs were dropped on the village of Ivanopillia in Kostyantynivka, according to the Donetsk prosecutors. An 89-year-old man was killed in his home as "four more men, aged 43, 57, 62 and 75, were fatally injured in Pokrovsk and the villages of Yablunivka, Lviv, and Kostyantynopil".

The nine injuries, including men and women aged 47 to 76, were caused by shrapnel wounds and injuries from the explosions, the prosecutors add.

Trump says Putin launching massive strike on Ukraine is ‘what anybody would do’

US president says he finds Russia easier to deal with than Ukraine after cutting off intelligence and weapons to Kyiv

It seems he UK had NO intentions of using tax payer money.

Why would anyone expect the US to continue to use US tax payer money, when they don't use their own taxpayer money? A new low for UK.

.....

At the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting at the end of February, Kallas stated that work on reaching an asset seizure agreement was “ongoing” and that “eventually, especially in the situation where we are right now, we all come to the conclusion that our taxpayers should not be the ones who are paying for this. It should come from the country that destroys Ukraine, which is Russia.”

Also toward the end of last month, U.K. foreign minister David Lammy told the British parliament that “Europe has to act quickly, and I believe we should move from freezing assets to seizing assets.” Estonia and Poland have also expressed support to seize assets.

Everyone agrees the horrors of the war in Ukraine must be stopped.

If the UK and FR and Germany and EU are so convinced that the war can be ended in Ukraine's favor via some type of military intervention, and that Russia and Putin are great evils (which I agree that they are), and that Ukraine should not seek to negotiate a peace, why are UK, FR, Germany, and EU unwilling to use the 300 billion of frozen Russian assets they control to fund the war in Ukraine and build up their militaries at warp speed so that they can arrange a D-Day like invasion on the shores of Crimea and push the Russians out of Ukraine?

What are they concerned about that they think the US should not be concerned about?

Imo it is not a winnable war (or even the type of conflict where a “genuine guaranteed peace” is feasible) without a complete and total defeat of Russia in a World War III

Pretty sure that the US could do the same.

And Russia is doing it as well. Won't be long before they are funding themselves with other people's money, if they are not doing it already.

Maybe Trump is supporting Russia because he doesn't want US money trapped in Russia? So he is going to lift sanctions and do all the rest of what he is doing against Ukraine. Trump certainly seems to have enough wealthy friends & family, and wealthy govt officials, who might be concerned about that.

imo

MOSCOW, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Russia is set to widen its power to retaliate for Western asset seizures with new legislation that could allow it to confiscate the frozen funds of foreign companies and investors, two sources familiar with the draft law told Reuters.

That could spell trouble for the many foreign investors, including both individuals and major U.S. investment funds, with billions of dollars of funds trapped in those accounts.

I believe they are going to use Russian assets - there was a link about it earlier.

I don't think it's whether or not it is a "winnable" war. It's about saving Ukraine from being invaded by a hostile neighbour. JMO

This is not a secret nor surprise though. Macron talked about it in his televised meeting with Trump. The one with all the knee grabbing.

I know this was mentioned above, but here is the video.

Press: Do you, Mr President, think that Vladimir Putin is taking advantage of the US pause right now on intelligence and military aid to Ukraine?

Trump: I actually think he's doing what anybody else would do. I think he wants to get it stopped and settled and I think he's hitting them harder than he's been hitting them and I think probably anybody in that position would be doing that right now. He wants to get it ended ....

Total denial, total gaslighting, pandering to Putin. He wants the war to end with Ukraine being lost. Of course Putin wants it ended - by pulverising Ukraine - with the assistance of the US knobbling Ukraine JMO MOO.

Tariffs yes, Tariffs no, Tariffs yes again.

All of this kind of thing I think is to keep Trump the centre of attention, and always in the news.

Yes, working as intended. I have a narcissistic relative and I make a game out of trying to get them to talk about anything without them turning it back to themselves. If anyone else is doing anything that does not involve them, they have to go interrupt and make it about them. All attention on them at all times.

The warhawks continue the madness. Meanwhile, Russia builds its war chests right along with 'em. No need to talk, just roll right on down the arms race avenue!

They've been invaded for years. Who exactly is going to wrench the Russians out?
