Bless The Beasts And Children
Song by Carpenters

Bless the beasts and the children,
For in this world they have no voice,
They have no choice.
Bless the beasts and the children,
For the world can never be,
The world they see.
Light their way
When the darkness surrounds them;
Give them love, let it shine all around them.
Bless the beasts and the children;
Give them shelter from a storm;
Keep them safe;
Keep them warm.
Light their way
When the darkness surrounds them;
Give them love, let it shine all around them.
Bless the beasts and the children;
Give them shelter from a storm;
Keep them safe;
Keep them warm.
Bless the beasts and the children;
Give them shelter from a storm;
Keep them safe;
Keep them warm.

Russia is using controversial 'cluster munitions' in Ukraine, humanitarian groups say

Russian military forces have used cluster munitions — a highly controversial weapon banned by many countries — against at least two civilian targets during its invasion of Ukraine, according to two international humanitarian organizations.

Seven people died and 11 were injured in the bombings attributed to Russia, which has been known to use cluster munitions in warfare, possibly as recently as two years ago in Syria.

...

Once fired, cluster munitions open in midair and rain down dozens or even hundreds of smaller submunitions, or "bomblets," over a large area the size of one or more football fields.

...
The munitions are notoriously difficult to control, striking nearby targets indiscriminately, which is why international human rights groups say they shouldn't be used anywhere near civilian populations, if at all.

(is Putin in his trial going to say they weren't banned and that's what killed children and civilians?) garrr

Ottawa takes aim at Russian propaganda on Canadian TV | The Star

''Allowing Russian propaganda to flow freely into Canadian homes is not a free-speech issue but one of national security, Kolga said, charging that RT has actively promoted vaccination hesitancy and conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic in an attempt to divide Canadians.

Kolga said RT has been promoting anti-government conspiracies, including giving voice to those who want to overthrow the government. He noted that the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protesters in Ottawa highlighted the kinds of narratives shared on the network.

Kolga said governments should sanction organizations like RT and their staff, so Canadians can’t get paid for working for them. Such action, he said, would block “the ability for the crooked individual, maybe an academic, to receive payment for writing columns that attack democracy, NATO, Canada using those platforms like RT.”

Ukrainian pilots arrive in Poland to pick up donated fighter jets

Ukrainian pilots have arrived in Poland to begin taking control of fighter planes donated by European countries, a Ukrainian government official told POLITICO.

The impending transfer of older Russian-made planes to be used in combat against Russian forces is the most significant moment yet in a wave of promised arms transfers over the past 24 hours that includes thousands of anti-armor rockets, machine guns, artillery and other equipment.
Best news I've heard all day. Now go take out that convoy! :mad:
To get the message out, Anonymous hacker group is suggesting....

Go to Google Maps. Go to Russia. Find a restaurant or business and go to 'review' then write about what is really happening in Ukraine.

Hacking attacks launched across Europe to help stop Russian invasion
Brilliant!!!

Ukrainian Civilians Take On Russian Invaders With Words And Deeds (rferl.org)

Videos are emerging of extraordinary civil resistance by Ukrainians against Russian aggression in their country. A crowd in Berdyansk booed Russian troops. A female driver refused to show her documents to a Russian soldier at a checkpoint in the Sumy region, and subjected him to a bold verbal tirade. Residents of a village bordering Belarus informed their Belarusian neighbors over a loudspeaker that their troops would not be welcome in Ukraine.

*This video comes with a goosebumps warning.

Interview: Could Russia Be Taken To Court For Its War In Ukraine? (rferl.org)
Russia's large-scale military attack on Ukraine is viewed by many governments and legal scholars as a clear violation of international law.

But Russian President Vladimir Putin has twisted the language of the law to defend his actions, asserting that Russia’s February 24 invasion is justified due to an unsupported claim that Kyiv is committing genocide in Ukraine's Donbas region against ethnic Russians.

Ukraine has responded by filing a suit against Russia on February 27 at the UN's highest court, rejecting Moscow's charge of genocide as absurd and asking judges to order an immediate halt to Russian military operations.

In seeking the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague to dismiss the Russian allegation, Kyiv is arguing that Ukraine and Russia have a dispute over the meaning of the 1948 Genocide Convention, a treaty they have both signed.

Russian invasion is behind schedule – US classified briefing
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has fallen behind schedule thanks to fierce local resistance, and multiple Russian equipment and logistics failures, according to a classified US government briefing attended by US senator Chris Murphy.

In a series of tweets in the last hour, Murphy adds that the defence department and the homeland security department are pushing hard for Congress to approve Joe Biden’s plan for at least $6.4bn in supplemental funding to help Ukraine, which will require cooperation from both parties.

He adds that it is expected that the fight for Kyiv will be “long and bloody”.

It was a good move on Zelinsky's part. But, I don't think it will happen.

I don't think so either, but maybe he can use it as a bargaining chip during negotiations?

Chris Murphy on Twitter (US Senator from CT)
Just leaving classified briefing on Ukraine crisis. A few takeaways that I can share: 1/ Confirmation that the Russians have fallen behind their timeline. Ukrainian resistance has been fierce and there have been multiple Russian equipment and logistics failures.
8:58 PM · Feb 28, 2022·Twitter for iPhone (EST)

2/ DoD and DHS are pressing hard for Congress to end the continuing resolution and get a budget passed. There is no way for our national security agencies to be nimble enough to support Ukraine if they are operating on the 2020/21 budget.

3/ The ability to keep supply lines running to Ukraine remains alive, but Russia will try to encircle and cut off Kiev in the next several weeks. The fight for Kiev will be long and bloody and Ukrainians are rapidly preparing for street to street combat.

4/ The U.S. and allies are coordinating to not only freeze the assets of Putin and his oligarch allies, but to seize those assets as well. This is likely a further step than Putin’s inner circle anticipated.

China's been making aggressive moves toward Taiwan and in the South China Seas since the Obama Administration. I agree they probably don't like the idea of being ostracized, but they'd still have their group of followers, including Russia and Iran.

If China ever plans on doing it--and they say they have the right to do it--it might be soon.

But, that's all JMOO.

We would certainly stand to lose far more if we were at war with China. But they also stand to lose.

They can't make up the US/Europe/Rest of the World buying power from Russia, and definitely not now. Russia has become a far less useful partner for those countries. Maybe the place on the UN security council, along with a load of 'defensive' nukes is all it has now? It has oil and gas, but the pipelines are already set up the way they are and you can't just rebuild them overnight to send them to new places.

Interestingly, I've heard Russia threaten to use nukes, but not heard them threaten to cut off oil/gas supplies to anyone?
