On a visit to Israel in 2020 for a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Zelensky recounted:

a tale of four brothers

“Three of them, their parents and their families became victims of the Holocaust. All of them were shot by German occupiers who invaded Ukraine. The fourth brother survived. Two years after the war, he had a son, and in 31 years, he had a grandson. In 40 more years, that grandson became president, and he is standing before you today.”

Why can't Poland just transfer them to Ukraine? We all know that's whats going on anyway. JMO

Because Poland is geo-located to the western flank of Belarus which is a Russian satellite and the only stop between them and Russia proper and Putin's wrath. It's in Poland's best interests to distance themselves 'officially' from donating direct to Russia's current target even though everyone knows where those MiGs are originating out of. Brilliant move on their part.

The United States is good at finding ISIS leaders and Bin Laden and
neutralizing them, why cant they do the same with Putin the horrible
and his henchmen, before that monster destroys the world with his evil
obsession with Ukraine?

The West buys less than 8% of our oil from Russian.

I think the European countries are very dependant on Russian oil and gas.

US imports from Canada with the Atlantic pipeline. We also produce and have a very rich oil supply in Alaska, via pipeline, and Texas. We have increased our solar and wind energy supply.

Moo....

In this context “The West” means the whole of North America, Western Europe and Australasia. Anywhere modern and progressive, basically.

The USA might not need Russias oil, but other parts of The West completely rely on it to live.

It would be interesting to know what the Russian people think, the things they cannot say.

Most opinions that have been quoted reflect disappointment, and then switch to saying that maybe people will start buying Russian items now and it will be good for their economy. They don't mention the conflict.

Shopping in a Moscow pharmacy, interior designer Pyotr Loznitsa says he has lost many clients over the past several days. 'Everything closing down'
"In Iran, they too adapted" to sanctions, Loznitsa says.

"Russian brands can be a replacement. Maybe the sanctions will be good for the Russian market," Filippova says.

Russians brace for sanctions as their favourite shops close

..... with growing numbers of foreign firms distancing themselves from the giant Russian market due to the war in Ukraine – homegrown jobs look safer and more stable.

"Right now, I mean last week, I feel that it’s necessary to cut expenses and save at least some money, to build up a financial cushion,” said one Moscow resident, referring to the 11-day-old war without mentioning it outright.

“Businesses could be closed for some time,” she explained, as supply links with companies abroad are unstable or currently cut off. “So we need to hedge our risks for now.”

One of her friends, however, pointed to a possible silver lining, saying the situation could open up opportunities for Russian producers and that some interesting Russian brands could emerge.

Russian shoppers hope for return of major Western brands
Interesting. Sounds like many of them are headed on down the road of denial, at least vocally. Thanks for sharing this.

Respectfully disagree because as you said we all know where they came from. Russia knows they're complicit no matter who hands them over. And now we're hearing it isn't a done deal. JMO

It sure isn't a done deal because the USofA was expecting Poland to give them to Ukraine directly. Poland has much more to risk at the exchange table than the USofA does ... their country is right there. Hence the passing of the relay baton. Will the USofA take up the baton? It remains to be seen, but I take it as Poland seeking a 'guarantee' that the USofA and the rest of the west has their 🤬🤬🤬 covered when Russia deems this airframe donation to be an act of war.

After all, both countries are members of ... ... NATO.

So, NATO is in one way or the other --- Poland is simply seeking that guarantee of mutual defence by asking the US to handle the donation.

I don't know if anyone on here uses Telegram, (social media, so not an approved source). However, I do have the OK to share an article from Bellingcat about how to archive Telegram posts. This is an important step in preserving evidence related to Putin's invasion. Bellingcat is an organization that specializes in using open-source investigative techniques. They have geo-located the site of CSAM, exposed information about the downing of MH17, and the poisoning of Navalny.

Someone really needs to explain Kaliningrad to me

Why is there a need to send in more than a dozen jets every day from Russia?

Why is there a flight there from Moscow arriving at 1.30 am?

Is it like a little teeny Las Vegas without the sun or the showgirls?
It's those dang stewardesses

Thank you, Vern. Europe would be very appreciative of some nice Canadian oil! Not sure you have enough left over to supply the whole continent though; it is a major problem unless the gas guzzling nations like USA and China are prepared to reduce consumption and share a bit.

This is from the link I posted in my last post, you can see it’s not straightforward for Europe at all:

View attachment 335882

In a nutshell:

USA produces 19 million barrels a day but uses 20 million. No biggie, they can probably break even.

China makes 5mb but uses 14 so is in huge deficit.

(USA and China use a third of the worlds oil between them)

Canada makes 5m and only uses 2.5m.

Russia and Saudi combined make 21 million barrels but use less than 7 million. They have by far the most spare.

And therein lies the problem.

I'd like to quantify China has 1.414. Billion people,US 332.5 million and Canada has 38.5.

Moo...census records per Google

Just checked. The Airbus a321-211, which are the dominant-sized Airbus planes being used in Russian Airbus fleets have a maximum capacity of 200. I guess it's really a mini-Airbus

The really big Airbus, the A380 is rated for 835 passengers, but due to configurations for business and first class usually holds 500 passengers.

Not all Airbusses are created equal. It's really just a company name. Likewise, all Airbus helicopters are not created equal. The largest, the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma can be configures for 15 passengers.

Thanks for putting up with my my mistakes. I'm learning all this as we go.

I appreciate your observations. I'm checking every am around 5EST. I notice the up tick in large aircraft.

FEAR
.

The US is basically financing a large portion of this situation, providing billions in resource to Ukraine and NATO. We are in Europe protecting border of NATO members.

Now NATO (Poland) is scared to give the planes to Ukraine. These are OLD planes and they traded for nice F series jets to the US.

Putin has already issued an ultimatum, he will consider this an act of war.

Putin will bomb Ukraine to the ground. He doesn't want anyone to leave Ukraine unless for Russia. He needs the Ukrainian people, as workers. Millions trying to flee, Putin's not having it. Moo

Poland to allow US to use its MIG-29 jets
Poland's foreign ministry has confirmed it is prepared to deploy its MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base in southwestern Germany.

Here, they will be "placed at the disposal of the government of the United States of America".

A statement adds: "At the same time, Poland requests the United States to provide us with used aircraft with corresponding operational capabilities.

"Poland is ready to immediately establish the conditions of purchase of the planes.

"The Polish Government also requests other NATO Allies – owners of MIG-29 jets – to act in the same vein."

Ukraine-Russia live updates: Girl, 6, 'killed during ceasefire' in Mariupol as report claims peace negotiations 'much more serious' than West says

Yeah, we traded F series fighter jets in top condition for old Russian planes.

Why the US??? Why not give/trade to NATO?

I don't want the US to make the decision for these planes.

This is a NATO decision, we are there because of NATO. Why is NATO and Polland putting this on the US? Why can't other NATO countries swap a few planes, as well?

All my opinion only...

Hungary will allow NATO troops to deploy in western Hungary and weapons shipments to cross its territory to other NATO member states, according to a government decree published on Monday (7 March).

In February, NATO looked at deploying four new battle groups in southeastern Europe. Some 1,000 troops would each be sent to Bulgaria and Romania, and potentially Slovakia and Hungary, to respond to Russia’s military build-up in Ukraine, diplomats said.

Budapest allows NATO troop deployment in Hungary

Guess, the Nato has been scouting first,it seems that Russia navy ships are going to face trouble in EU:

Cyprus forbids mooring of five Russian navy ships this week due to Ukraine war
Looks like we are preparing for war. Will we survive....
