Ukraine’s U.N. Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya told the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday that the “demilitarization of Russia is well under way.”

Since the beginning of the invasion into Ukraine, Kyslytsya said the Russian occupiers have lost more than 17,000 military personnel, over 1,700 armored vehicles and almost 600 tanks.

He also said Russia also has lost 300 artillery systems, 127 planes and 129 helicopters, almost 100 rocket launchers systems, 54 air defense systems and seven ships.

Kyslytsya said that is “an unprecedented blow to Moscow, where the numbers of Soviet losses in Afghanistan pale in comparison.”

When Vladimir Putin began his full-scale war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, he destroyed many things but none more completely than the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) whose clergy and laity have been transferring their allegiance to the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).

That was demonstrated by a poll conducted in early March which found that most believers in Ukraine no longer wanted to be associated with a church based in the capital of the country attacking their own and were pressing the UOC MP to allow them to join the OCU.

I wish Biden would just be quiet. I concur with his outrage, but his comments are dangerous. The White House has to keep correcting and spinning what he says. Now, his comment has been denounced by our allies, so it's best he just stays out of the fray, so to speak. JMOO and all just my own opinion.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I understand what you're saying, diplomacy is maybe better. At the same time I admire people who step up and say the truth or what they truly feel. Somebody has to do that sometimes.

Thanks sweetie for giving a "visual" of how war looks like. Imagine when you see this stepping out of your house.....if it's still there......unimaginable....the unspeakable truth....hard to take in, but it must be shown. What if you are six....and see your mother crying.....what does it do with you, with you as a child.

Regarding this post above by @PommyMommy from the Kyiv Independent on Twitter, I was wondering if some of the countries recommended by Ukraine negotiators to serve as security guarantors would agree to do so. According to the Kyiv Independent, the UK is not ready to do so. I wonder what the U.S. position would be. I think it would probably be the same.

God! And about the refugees? I understand it better, when I was young, people had to work for years for a 280-sq-feet apartment in Moscow. Ukrainians are poorer. So they lost their places of living, their land is shelled, their sea, mined. Mined by themselves, but still. How are they supposed to live there?

OK here is a new joke.

(With a foreword: you remember how here, there are jokes about a rabbi, a Catholic priest and a Buddhist? In old times, Russia used to have similar jokes about an American, a Frenchman and a Russian. For example, the Frenchman would always be an expert in love, as to the Russian, he'd be "inventive out of necessity", so to say. )

Here comes the new one, straight from Russia:

"Due to the sanctions, USA and EU are recalling their citizens from the jokes about an American, a Frenchman and a Russian".

Misled in what way? That Ukraine was planning to join NATO? Or that it would be easy to take Ukraine? These are two different kinds of being misled. I am reading George Friedman “the next 100 years”, and thinking, if he foresaw this geopolitical situation in 2008 or so… it might have nothing to do with either.

I thought the Russian withdraw was,... due to their losses..and Ukraine forces took back some area’s?!
And Russia’s shifted combination of economics focus..:

The city of Mariupol, which has been besieged and surrounded for weeks, is important because of its port, says the military expert. “If the Russians own that port, they can export coal from the mines in Donbass, something that was not allowed by Ukraine from the two people's republics. With the port you also control access to the land bridge to Crimea.”
DPG Media Privacy Gate

The above post nipped by me for focus...

In his interview with those Russian journalists the other day, President Zelensky mentioned the flooding in those coal mines.

I just found this and what an eye-opener it is! Since Russia took over Dombas and Crimea in 2014 they've made a toxic mess in the Dombas mining system and surrounding rivers and aqua fill. All because they didn't want to spend money keeping the water pumped out of these coal mines. Literally poisoning the water supply from Dombas that they so strongly covet for Crimea drinking.
