“When his body was found, seven days later, it emerged that he had taken off his bulletproof vest to give it to a child he was carrying. It was an elementary mistake for a man in uniform to make. But then he had never meant to be a soldier.”

Pasha Lee went from Ukrainian screen idol to volunteer

He was killed near the bridge at Irpin on March 6th, aged 33

Vladimir Putin holds a huge rally in front of thousands of 'Z' flag-waving Russians | Daily Mail Online

Much as I wish reports that Putin is unwell were true, it appears that he is fine, energized for his slaughter campaign, and most Russians believe what he says. Of course they've heard propaganda all their lives.

The Z thing is freaking me out. There is no Z in the Cyrillic alphabet, and we've all heard theories of what it might mean as the new Russian symbol. I've heard it stands for Zelenskyy as a target, but Zelenskyy is not spelled with a Z, either, in Cyrillic. However, a graphic symbol appearing everywhere is getting too close to a swastika, IMO.

Idk how many other people have posted this in answer to you but...

Not sure how accurate this is because it's Wikipedia, therefore updated by anyone on a whim (JMO). I've heard/understand it's essentially a modified swastika (ridiculous as the origins of the swastika are symbolic to Jainism, Buddhism and other "native" belief systems).

Note the bold portion mentions *according to Ukraine forces*. There is an accompanying poster indicating which "Z" stands for which "department":

Z (military symbol) - Wikipedia

According to an infographic shared by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the following symbols and corresponding meanings have been used by the Russian Armed Forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine:[16]

The invasion has acquired the nickname "Operation Z", derived from the "Z" symbol.[17] The symbol is in the form of the Latin letter Z, instead of the equivalent Cyrillic letter З (Ze) used in the Russian alphabet, which has been described as peculiar considering the symbol's theme of Russian nationalism.[18]

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, March 18

Ukrainian forces conducted a major successful counterattack around Mykolayiv in the past several days, and Russian forces continued to secure territorial gains only around Mariupol on March 18. Russian forces face growing morale and supply problems, including growing reports of self-mutilation among Russian troops to avoid deployment to Ukraine and shortages of key guided munitions. The Ukrainian General Staff continued to report on March 18 that Russia has failed to achieve its strategic objectives in Ukraine, including destroying the Ukrainian Armed Forces, capturing Kyiv, and establishing control over Ukraine to the east bank of the Dnipro River—the first time the Ukrainian General Staff included this territorial conquest as an explicit Russian objective.[1] The Ukrainian General Staff additionally stated that Ukrainian forces “continue step by step to liberate the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine in all directions” on March 18, the first Ukrainian mention of conducting counterattacks “in all directions.”[2]

Russian forces are engaged in four primary efforts at this time:

  • Main effort—Kyiv (comprised of three subordinate supporting efforts);
  • Supporting effort 1—Kharkiv;
    • Supporting effort 1a—Luhansk Oblast;
  • Supporting effort 2—Mariupol and Donetsk Oblast; and
  • Supporting effort 3—Kherson and advances westward.

Immediate items to watch
  • Russian forces will likely capture Mariupol or force the city to capitulate within the coming weeks.
  • The Ukrainian General Staff continued to report that there is a high probability of Russian provocations aimed at involving Belarus in the war in Ukraine, though ISW continues to assess that Belarus is unlikely to open a new line of advance into Ukraine.
  • Ukrainian counterattacks and operations by Territorial Defense Forces in northeastern Ukraine threaten Russia’s exposed line of communicating, requiring Russia to redeploy forces away from the offensive toward eastern Kyiv.
  • Company and battalion-level attacks northwest of Kyiv likely represent the largest scale of offensive operations Russian forces can currently undertake to complete the encirclement of the city.

Where does blowing up hospitals, killing volunteers, civilians, school children and animals fit into Russias' strategy???

The Russians are fighting against bakers, hair stylists, teachers and still not gaining anything. All they've done is destroy buildings, infrastructure, drive people out and underground (which they were already accustomed to). They've murdered countless civilians for nothing.

Russian state TV cuts off Putin speech mid-sentence

As the Russian leader addresses the crowds, state television switches to showing a clip of patriotic music from earlier in the event.

Russian state television is tightly controlled and such interruptions are highly unusual.

The Kremlin later says that the broadcast was “interrupted due to technical problems on the server.”

Around 10 minutes later, state television replays Putin’s speech from start to finish before he walks off stage.

Putin's former KGB turned oligarch buddy must ge very upset. He owns a 223 ft luxury yacht registered in Malta and sailing under a Maltese flag. It has an all British crew of 15 and an ex-Royal Marine as Captain.The ship's name is Rangar, an old norse word for "warrior".

It seems it's stuck in a port in Norway. The Norwegian fuel suppliers there ard refusing to refuel them. The workers told the ship's crew to “row home” or “raise the sails".

Russians are blocked at US border, Ukrainians are admitted | The Star
''About three dozen would-be asylum seekers from Russia found themselves blocked from entering the U.S. on Friday while a group of Ukrainians flashed passports and were escorted across the border.

The scene reflected a quiet but unmistakable shift in the differing treatment of Russians and Ukrainians who enter Mexico as tourists and fly to Tijuana, hoping to enter the U.S. for a chance at asylum.

The Russians — 34 as of Friday — had been camped several days at the busiest U.S border crossing with Mexico, two days after city of Tijuana officials gently urged them to leave.''

,,,
''Within hours of arriving, the migrant, who identified himself only as Mark because he feared for his family’s safety in Russia, saw three Russian migrants admitted to the United States. After six hours, U.S. authorities returned his passport and said only Ukrainians were being admitted.

“Ukrainians and Russians are suffering because of one man,” Mark said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He fled shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.''

'Strict police regime' in occupied areas - US think tank
Friday's daily intelligence assessment by the Institute for the Study of War - a US think tank - offers some interesting insights into how Russia is trying to stamp its authority on territory it has captured in Ukraine.

The analysis draws largely on reports from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to ISW, the invading forces may be attempting to establish "a strict administrative and police regime" in several areas, while also distributing food to civilians in order to maintain a positive image.

It adds that Russia continues to detain pro-Ukrainian civil servants, activists and others.

Those repressive measures come as Russia has "significantly exhausted its human resources" and is taking "extreme measures in matters of staffing", even allegedly dismissing a general for his performance.

Meanwhile, the think tank finds that Ukrainian forces have launched a successful counterattack near the encircled southern city of Mykolaiv, and halted the Russian advance into Kharkiv.''

Personally I wouldn't trust any Russian calling himself "Mark" JMO (also jk).

Wondering what kind of family these Russians were that they got on a plane pretending to be on vacation and then trying to enter the U.S when they didn't need asylum at all. Paranoid or suspicious IMO.
