Roman Abramovich 'poisoned' at peace negotiations with Ukraine

Mr Abramovich and Ukrainian peace negotiators suffered symptoms of a suspected poisoning following a meeting they attended in Kyiv in early March, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The oligarch was said to have shown symptoms including skin peeling on his face and hands, and red teary eyes. He has since recovered from the symptoms, the newspaper reported.

Mr Abramovich has been moving between Moscow and Lviv, Ukraine, and elsewhere.
OMG his skin was peeling? What the heck would do that besides radiation?

Roman Abramovich 'poisoned' at peace negotiations with Ukraine

The Russian oligarch reportedly suffered peeling skin on his face and hands, and red teary eyes

By Nick Allen 28 March 2022 • 5:26pm

"...Mr Abramovich and another Russian entrepreneur were involved in negotiations until about 10pm on March 3. His symptoms reportedly emerged later that evening at a Kyiv flat, and lessened in the morning."

"A spokesman for Mr Zelensky said he was not affected and had no knowledge of any poisoning attempt."

"Last week, it was reported that Vladimir Putin had approved Mr Abramovich taking part in the peace talks. There was no immediate comment from the Kremlin on the reported poisoning attempt."

I'm confused, did this not get reported to news media back on March 3rd or even get reported to President Zelensky?

I am still trying to follow Shoigu.... This Daily Beast article from today still speculates that Putin hasn't dumped him, because of their long long relationship. Others have not been so lucky.. I dunno... I was not convinced he was actually on that zoom call last week. So where is he?????

So where did all the money for Russia’s military overhaul go?

The Ukrainian outlet NV recently accused Shoigu of “managing the budget of the Russian Ministry of Defense like his personal piggy bank.

Heads are starting to roll as a result of the military’s failure to accomplish a swift occupation of Ukraine. The deputy chief of Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardia), which has suffered tremendous losses in the conflict, has just been arrested; earlier, Sergei Beseda, chief of the FSB’s foreign intelligence branch was also put behind bars, along with his deputy, reportedly for providing poor intelligence ahead of Russia’s invasion.

Putin’s Soft Spot for His Favorite Crony Is Wrecking His Precious War

Well, Shoigu was into some shamanism in Tuva, and Putin visited him there. It is interesting, Shoigu is a Russian Orthodox, but listens to local shamans, too. So he might be OK as the “necessary” person who has contact with the spiritual world.

That he is up to his ears in corruption I read, and even linked an article that was removed because it was in Russian. It was originating from the local insider, dated by 2018 and described how Shoigu’s GF made so much that she had an estate next to one of Putin’s biggest friends.

From what I read, the most reasonable explanation is that he had a heart attack after Putin accused him of poorly managing the campaign.

There also must be some power struggle going on, too, hence, the changes.

The US had both German and Japanese Internment Camps...
During WWII, the United States detained at least 11,000 ethnic Germans, overwhelmingly German nationals.[3] The government examined the cases of German nationals individually, and detained relatively few in internment camps run by the Department of Justice, as related to its responsibilities under the Alien Enemies Act.

Internment of German Americans - Wikipedia

I know the numbers. They are in striking contrast with interned Japanese Americans, so I don’t like to quote them. I think many Germans were offered naturalization before the internment, anyhow.

Hopefully this isn't another he said, they said, she said plane story.

Tricky, isn't it??

MOO, but I surely hope that Poland isn't going to take the - all the heat!!-

They have suffered so much,
during WWII, - attacked by Russia and Germany, from both sides, in same period and during that war,.. became the killing fields of Europe!

The polish people fought hard and liberated us.

And this is so bellow the belly, if all the blame are put on their shoulders..

Many Polish citizens take shooting lessons,I understand, while hosting the most Ukraine refugees

And this..:
"In a series of comments in late December, the Russian president appeared to blame Poland for the outbreak of the Second World War."

Putin’s Big Lie

ETA:
Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany on 1 September 1939 and by the Soviet Union on 17 September
Under the two occupations, Polish citizens suffered enormous human and material losses. According to the Institute of National Remembrance estimates, about 5.6 million Polish citizens died as a result of the German occupation and about 150,000 died as a result of the Soviet occupation.

Biden says his comment about Putin not remaining in power reflects moral outrage, not a policy change: Live Ukraine updates

“I'm not walking anything back,” Biden said Monday from the White House. “The fact of the matter is I was expressing the moral outrage I felt toward the way Putin is dealing and the actions of this man, which is just brutality.”

Biden noted that he felt that outrage after meeting with refugees in Warsaw, Poland.

“I want to make it clear, I wasn't then nor am I now articulating a policy change,” he said. “I was expressing moral outrage that I feel. I make no apologies for it."

The president also said he doesn't believe his comments complicate the diplomatic efforts to end the war or escalate the hostilities.

"What complicates the situation at the moment is the escalatory efforts of Putin to continue to engage in carnage,'' Biden said, "the kind of behavior that makes the whole world say, 'My God, what is this man doing?'''

Well, it is complex. I left the country when Putin, probably, just arrived to St. Petersburg, and never voted for even Yeltsin, much less for Putin. My dad in Russia voted for a different person. So, I don’t feel collective guilt. The two things connecting me with Russia are mother tongue and my very old dad who is dying of cancer.

Question is, were the Germans living in the US in 1939, who were first generation assimilated immigrants, held liable for what happened in their mother country? And who was not held liable?

I think the ones who accepted US citizenship and did not support Hitler’s regime, were not. In general, very few Germans were persecuted in the US during WWII. But how to behave in such time, is important.

I'm not so sure about that. My mil recently had to clean out her mother's estate. Her mother was 2nd generation American and their family was German. They found a set of papers giving an award to her grandfather. It was given by the German government and Hitler's name was on it, though not actually signed by him. Apparently there was a German man in their town in FL who was being denied medical treatment because he was German. Everyone was refusing to treat him or help him specifically because he was German. Her grandfather stepped in and gave him care when no one else would. Apparently the situation made it as far as coming to the attention of the German government.

I just asked my husband and it did occur before the war. He was thinking 37 or 38. I need to look into it. But apparently anti-German sentiment was pretty strong then.

Putin has a whole arsenal. Here is Navalny with a green face, though obviously this is not the same incident as when he almost died of Novichuk poisoning.

Also, Viktor Yushenko, the former president of Ukraine, you can see the before and after pictures of his face but I don’t recall what poison or chemical weapon was used.

Dying in the hospital bed is Litivenko, and I believe that time it was polonium in his teacup.

I think but am not sure that the father and daughter who were poisoned in London were also Novichuk victims? They survived but a woman going through the trash touched the containers and died.

Chernobyl workers say unprotected Russians kicked up radioactive dust in toxic zone

Mon, March 28, 2022, 3:38 PM

Workers at the Chernobyl nuclear site said that Russian soldiers kicked up clouds of radioactive dust while driving through the toxic "Red Forest" zone without radiation protection.

Soldiers drove armored vehicles through the Red Forest, causing an increase in radiation levels due to the resulting disturbance of radioactive soil around the site of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

The Russian convoy did not use any anti-radiation gear while taking Chernobyl, which was "suicidal," according to Chernobyl employees.

I feel like the world community has not done enough to help Ukraine in the air which in turn has facilitated more cilvilian deaths and destruction of civilian homes and structures.

If Ukraine needs planes to ensure that most missiles are not fired from inside Ukraine airspace then why are planes off the aid table? If Ukrainian pilots OR others who have come to fight for Ukraine are flying these planes what is the real difference between supplying planes to supplying replacement plane parts or tanks etc...?

I understand why President Zelensky has been asking for help in the sky. It's where most of the threat is coming from and they can't combat it without the right tools. So they watch their people being bombarded...and even when humanitarian corridors are set up by the enemy liars to let civilians escape the battlefields.

Britain asked the same of America before Pearl Harbor and airman and planes were sent to help. They needed help and help was given in specific ways to combat bombardment.

Ukraine can't take out enough Russian planes with what they have, they need more planes.

I wonder why we can't give them Patriot missiles like we did for Israel when Saddam Hussein was firing SCUD missiles at them?

Is it because one dictator is so different than the other?

AJMO

Perhaps it is not a US decision. Perhaps it is a decision to be made by Europe.
Ukraine is surrounded by mostly-friendly countries who may not want an air battle happening on their continent.

The countries in Europe are relatively 'small'. How would an air battle be contained to just Ukraine airspace? With no spillover in other countries.

It would be kind of like an air battle happening over Texas, and trying to not allow it to affect Louisiana or New Mexico.

I think it must be a difficult balancing act, for President Biden to try to help while also honouring other countries concerns. Macron was upset at some of the words that have been spoken.

Ahead of the talks, to be held in Istanbul, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country is prepared to declare its neutrality, as Moscow has demanded, and is open to compromise on the fate of the Donbas, the contested region in the country’s east.

Ukrainians claim to retake ground ahead of latest talks

IMO, Putin does not want peace.
This is definitely a red flag!

"Dawn Sturgess dabbed on what she believed to be perfume from a small bottle.

But the 44-year-old British woman was actually applying a Soviet-era nerve agent that had previously sickened a former Russian spy and his daughter, three sources briefed on the UK poisoning investigation told CNN on Thursday.

The bottle was the source of Sturgess' fatal dose, according to investigators."

After the earlier go around about fighter jets, I really hope this just now surfacing poison story can be backed up. The US drew a line at poison/chemical weapons. I hope this isn't a story to draw NATO into the war more. Just a thought I had. JMO
