Активист призвал ООН обратить внимание на "непропорционально высокое число погибших из национальных республик"

This might be interesting. How many times have we discussed genocidal attitude towards small nations? And again…

“The chief elder of the Erzya people, Syres Bolyaen, speaking at the 21st session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples, publicly accused Moscow "of turning the national republics and places of compact residence of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation into socially backward regions, where local youth are saved from poverty by signing a contract with the Armed forces of the Russian Federation.

"While we are discussing the mandate of the Forum, the Kremlin sends representatives of my and other indigenous peoples of Russia to destroy Ukraine. Russia does not recognize the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and uses the rhetoric about protecting minorities only to seize foreign lands. Russia has long been not a federation, but a prison of peoples, where for the ninth year it has also been holding millions of citizens of Ukraine. The Russian invaders are killing Ukrainians, but they themselves are suffering heavy losses. The share of representatives of the indigenous peoples of Russia in the total number of dead interventionists is disproportionately high. It significantly exceeds the share of these peoples in the structure of the Russian population," Erzya leader has said.

The twenty-first session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues takes place in New York from 25 April to 6 May.

Bolyaen said that the leading regions in terms of the number of military causalities per thousand population are North Ossetia, Buryatia, Tyva, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chukotka and the Volga region. (“Idel.Realii" keep their own statistics of the natives of the Volga region who died in Ukraine.)

Earlier, investigator Khristo Grozev also drew attention to this. He believes that the Kremlin "throws people from the most remote parts of the country into the heat of war so as not to provoke protests in large urban centers."

Expert Harun Sidorov believes that the participation of representatives of the Russian republics in the war against Ukraine is nothing more than "fixing their "second-class" status in modern Russia."

(For those who don’t know, Erzya are a Finno-Ugric tribe that had resided in the area of modern Mordovia well before the Slavic invasion. - char).
It's very sad, because of their remote living they're most likely limited to internet access (especially now), so being lied to by state tv and newspapers. I'm sure they love their country and think they're doing right in joining their nation's armed forces. That the young have so little opportunities because their government just strives to subjugate their citizens on whatever level matches their cultures. Russia is a massive area so it's a massive problem for the more rural communities to know the actual truths. AJMO

Israel lashes out at Russia over Lavrov’s Nazism remarks | The Star
May 2 2022
''TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israel on Monday lashed out at Russia over “unforgivable” comments by its foreign minister about Nazism and antisemitism — including claims that Adolf Hitler was Jewish. Israel, which summoned the Russian ambassador in response, said the remarks blamed Jews for their own murder in the Holocaust.

It was a steep decline in the ties between the two countries at a time when Israel has sought to stake out a neutral position between Russia and Ukraine and remain in Russia’s good stead for its security needs in the Middle East.

Asked in an interview with an Italian news channel about Russian claims that it invaded Ukraine to “denazify” the country, Sergey Lavrov said that Ukraine could still have Nazi elements even if some figures, including the country’s president, were Jewish.

“So when they say ‘How can Nazification exist if we’re Jewish?’ In my opinion, Hitler also had Jewish origins, so it doesn’t mean absolutely anything. For some time we have heard from the Jewish people that the biggest antisemites were Jewish,“ he said, speaking to the station in Russian, dubbed over by an Italian translation.

In some of the harshest remarks since the start of the war in Ukraine, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called Lavrov’s statement “unforgivable and scandalous and a horrible historical error.”

“The Jews did not murder themselves in the Holocaust,” said Lapid, the son of a Holocaust survivor. “The lowest level of racism against Jews is to blame Jews themselves for antisemitism.”

Ukraine live updates: Mariupol evacuated; Pelosi vows US support (usatoday.com)
''Resolution would authorize military intervention if Russia uses chemical, biological or nuclear weapons

Rep. Adam Kinzinger is introducing a joint resolution that would authorize President Joe Biden to use U.S. military force in Ukraine if Russia uses chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. The legislation the use of force, if necessary, to "protect the national security interests of the United States with respect to Ukraine and assist in defending and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine." The authority would terminate when "the territorial integrity of Ukraine has been restored," according to the resolution.

“Putin must be stopped," the Illinois Republican, an Air Force veteran, said. "Accordingly, the commander in chief to the world’s greatest military should have the authority and means to take the necessary actions to do so."

''Zelenskyy says Russia is fighting a war of 'extermination'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of trying to exterminate his people, pointing out Sunday in his nightly address that Russian shelling had hit food, grain and fertilizer warehouses, as well as residential neighborhoods in the Kharkiv, Donbas and other regions.

“The targets they choose prove once again that the war against Ukraine is a war of extermination for the Russian army,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Russia will gain nothing from the damage but will further isolate itself from the rest of the world.

“What could be Russia’s strategic success in this war?” Zelenskyy said. “Honestly, I do not know.''

This is the same guy who was in favor of the U.S. establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, that would drag the U.S. into a war with Russia. Now he is escalating the rhetoric when a resolution like this can be created and voted on at any time if biological or chemical weapons were to be used. There is no need to publicize "red line" policy at this time in Congress, IMO.

Given that this is Kinzinger's last session in Congress, he won't be held accountable by the electorate for proposing a resolution that could send our men and women into a war with Russia,

Russia-Ukraine war live updates: Civilians evacuated from Mariupol steel plant (nbcnews.com)
''Civilians are finally being evacuated from the bombed-out steel plant where hundreds have been sheltering in the last Ukrainian stronghold in Mariupol, the key city that is otherwise under Russian control after months of siege.

The rescue operation in the southeastern port comes after weeks of failed efforts, with Russian forces bombarding Mariupol as they battle to make progress in their new offensive in the region.

The United States and its allies have stepped up their military support for Kyiv, with the surprise weekend trip to the Ukrainian capital by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic lawmakers the latest signal of growing Western backing. Pelosi met with Poland's president on Monday, while First Lady Jill Biden is set to travel to NATO members Romania and Slovakia this week to meet with families who have fled the war.''

''A Ukrainian commander inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol said his men experienced a turbulent night after the first batch of evacuees were able to leave the plant on Sunday.

"As soon as the evacuation of civilians was completed yesterday, the enemy began using all kinds of weapons. The night was restless," said Denys Shleha, commander of the 12th Operational Brigade of the National Guard.
"The [Russian] naval artillery worked on Azovstal from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m.. In the morning it became quieter."
It is unclear whether another batch of civilians trapped inside the complex will be able to leave on Monday.

"I will not say anything about the evacuation from Azovstal. We are trying our best to do it, we are begging for it," Shleha said.

He said there are about 200 people, including 20 children, left on the premises.

We beg that people should be removed from Azovstal. The enemy strikes with all kinds of weapons. Everything is very bad," he said.
"The biggest problem is wounded servicemen. Our field hospital was bombed a few days ago. Medical care is provided to the military in extremely difficult conditions. There are currently about 500 of them at Azovstal. Their injuries are of varying severity. This is the biggest problem that needs to be resolved," Shleha said.''

Now what do you suppose the average Russian, man or woman, thinks when they see one of the most popular and watching state tv program talk about in how little time Russian nuclear missiles could annihilate Berlin, Paris and London? Do they look at that and shudder for the shear craziness that's being talked about or do they say, heck yeah let's kill the planet!

You know nothing is getting on Russian state tv without the approval of Putin and his minions. Are the people recognizing this madness yet or still backing it? I want to scream from the mountaintop, OPEN YOUR EYES AND EARS!!! AJMO

Russian state TV simulates terrifying nuclear strike on Europe

People are afraid. Of course, who wants a war? But here is a good example. I read it in the site that is constantly blocked, (Radio Svoboda, Radio Freedom) and they use “mirrors”. Now the new mirror is blocked, but you can trust me.

A 19-year-old student from Kaliningrad wrote on a monument “Putin=war”. He got arrested, and the police threatened to break his fingers with a hammer. It got on the video. Now he says he was “an idiot to do it” and states the Putin is right.

Everyone speaks and rights about tortures in Russian prisons. People are scared.

He is sad because the indigenous people have very few chances but to join the army. And then their number that is sent to Ukraine is very high because in big cities, that many dead soldiers would cause massive protest. He accuses the government of treating the indigenous people as second class citizens.

But are there no rational people with power left in Russia? To see a husband and wife (Putin's Iron Doll:confused:) run a simulation of nuclear destruction of Europe like it's what...a freaking game?!

Now, supposedly, Putin is handing off his power to an equally radical fellow KGB-er if he has to be incapacitated for surgery.

Where are the brave sane Russians with power? Are the Oligarchs the only ones with some sense because they value the right of enterprise? I just cannot believe the lack of uprising. Where are the fathers of the the young men and the husbands of the women who stood up to their Governor in Siberia who wanted to use their sons as cannon fodder?!

Time to start dropping leaflets from 40,000 feet onto the rural areas that make up most of Russia, leaflets with the truth of where their money goes. Pictures of yachts, villas/mansions, young privileged Russian sons and daughters all decked out partying around the world, all on their dime, their blood, sweat and tears.

Brave sane Russians with power left in Russia? Russia was always an autocracy. Except for a few months in 1917.

Here is a good example. Sasha Skochilenko, an artist from St. Petersburg.

Live updates: Latest news on Russia and the war in Ukraine (cnbc.com)
Ukraine troops are pushing Russian forces away from Kharkiv, Pentagon says
Ukrainian troops defending Kharkiv have pushed Russians back from the city over the last 24 to 48 hours, the U.S. Department of Defense said late Monday.

A senior U.S. Defense official said at a briefing that Ukraine’s forces have “managed to push the Russians out about 40 kilometers [25 miles] to the east of Kharkiv.” The city is still under aerial bombardment.

Kharkiv has been under sustained attack since late February, and most its civilian residents have fled the city.

The strategically important city is in Ukraine’s northeast, only about 32 kilometers (20 miles) from the Russian border.

Russian troops in eastern Ukraine are making “anemic” progress and continue to be beset by low morale, poor command and control and weak logistics, the official told reporters.

Turning to arms shipments, the Pentagon official said more than 70 of 90 M-777 howitzers that the United States is sending to Ukraine have arrived there. So have about 140,000 rounds for those cannons, which is about half the amount planned for delivery.''

More than a quarter of Russia's army in Ukraine now 'combat ineffective,' UK says | Live Updates from Fox News Digital
''More than a quarter of troops that Russia sent to fight in Ukraine are now believed to be "combat ineffective," the United Kingdom announced Monday.

The startling statistic comes as Russia’s bloody invasion of Ukraine is in its 68th day. Prior to the assault from Vladimir Putin’s army, it was estimated that Moscow assembled around 150,000 soldiers to participate in the war.

"At the start of the conflict, Russia committed over 120 battalion tactical groups, approximately 65 percent of its entire ground combat strength," the U.K. Ministry of Defence said in a tweet. "It is likely that more than a quarter of these units have now been rendered combat ineffective."
