The Telegraph UK has an article about 2 babies born last night in Kyiv, a baby girl named Mia in the underground metro shelter, and a boy in the basement of a hospital that was under bombing attack

There is a lovely photo of the glowing 23-yr old mother and new little baby boy, and a photo of angelic little Mia sleeping with her fingers clutching her mothers finger.

I'd love to post the photos but they are behind a paywall.

I want to help the fight for them to live in Freedom!

Viktor Liashko, Ukraine’s Minister of Health, shared photos of two children born in a bomb shelter in Kherson, Ukraine. On Facebook, Liashko called the images the "face of war."

"Yesterday in Kherson, under the shelling, two boys were born ... Two new lives that already have War in their genetic code," he wrote.

Although he said the babies were born under "shelling and explosions," Liashko said that the healthy birth of the newborns births should serve as a symbol of Ukrainian resilience.

"Life goes on, we give birth to children and no one can defeat us!" he wrote.

This is Putin intentionally escalating the stakes.

Intentionally provoking NATO allies.

Found this tweet from last night. It embodies the strength and courage that Zelensky has shown as the leader for Ukraine.

This guy is not going down without a fight!

I agree. There was much speculation by his political opponents on his credentials and lack of political experience. As a fresh face to leadership there was a concern that he would not take on tough issues and stand up to Russia.
I feel he is indeed showing what a Leader can do when ones heart is in the right place and working side by side for the people. In his case literally side by side in the streets.
I believe there will be much to glean from his leadership style and approach. JMO

My brother messaged me Thursday morning, asking if my husband (military) would be safe in all of this. I've been glued to the news ever since and afraid of how this is going to play out.

Didn't know much about him until the last few days, but he's impressive. Ukraine couldn't have a better leader rn, imo.

Excerpt:
Mr. Draghi told Italy’s Parliament earlier in the morning, during a speech about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, that he had been scheduled to speak to Mr. Zelensky.

“This morning, he tried to reach me before I came here. We set up a phone appointment at 9:30 a.m., but then it wasn’t possible to have the call because President Zelensky was no longer available,” Mr. Draghi told lawmakers in a dramatic tone.

Mr. Zelensky wrote on Twitter: “Today at 10:30 a.m. at the entrances to Chernihiv, Hostomel and Melitopol there were heavy fighting. People died. Next time I’ll try to move the war schedule to talk to #MarioDraghi at a specific time. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to fight for its people.” Ukraine’s time zone is an hour ahead of Italy’s.

Russia-Ukraine latest news: Kyiv increases pressure on Turkey to close straits to Russian warships – live | World news | The Guardian
Ukraine is increasing pressure on Turkey to close the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits to Russian warships, after a tweet from President Volodymyr Zelensky was widely interpreted to mean that Turkey had agreed to the closure, reports Ruth Michaelson from Istanbul.

[...]

Turkey has so far made no public statements confirming that it has decided to close the straits to Russian warships, although President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with Zelenskiy by phone earlier today, stating that Ankara was attempting to push for an immediate ceasefire.

The Russian news agency Interfax said Russia had received no official notification from the Turkish side about the closure of the straits to Russian warships.

If Turkey chooses to close the Bosphorus and Dardanelles to Russian warships, preventing them from accessing the Black Sea, it would be a significant move in terms of both cutting off long-term Russian support to their troops in Ukraine as well as a significant show of support to Ukraine.

I admire him. It would be an honour to have such a President. I really hope that he and his family will survive.
