That's reaching, even for the Daily Mail. I didn't realize Muslims had trademarked a beard style. It's probably just a combination of laziness and prepping to look more scruffy and butch in case he is found guilty.

Not to mention that bushy beards are kind of "in" among some of the younger set at the moment. I know a couple of them. Really nice guys, good all the way round, sporting fairly recent bushy beards.

He could be flirting with becoming a devotee of the Amish. The Daily Fail likes to stir up strife for its poor brit readers.... they are on a tangent currently, which a beard could play into.

( what I think it signifies is,, he is trying to remove himself from what he looked like at the time of the murder. Clean shaven, etc. it's all he has. And beard growing passes the time.. boredom is a constant battle in Remand )

And he might only be allowed to have razor blades/shaving equipment under strict supervision. Depending what his stability is like.

imo

Stephenson’s lawyer ..... said his client had been suffering poor mental health since he was arrested.

Hi @HoneyBunOne,
There is a 'trademarked beard style' that's favoured amongst 'some' in 'some' sections of the community but who knows the motivation/s of clownfish; I hope it gives him something to pet & cuddle as he sits & contemplates his fate.

MOO, always MOO
& an edit for a grammatical error, of course, duoh!

How awful it must have been for his parents to see him falling lower and lower while still setting out on life's journey really.

The prosecution get a pattern of reckless, destructive anti-social behaviour.
The defense showcase Stephenson as able to admit guilt, still recovering from serious injuries, “not remembering the crash”, having the support of his family and his LONG TIME girlfriend, being welcomed back to his job after the accident, and working hard to get his sparky apprenticeship.
Moya’s going for the silly, young, loveable rogue who would never do such a thing or didn’t know what he was doing due to his injuries or acquired brain injury or addictions etc etc etc.

“Stephenson's lawyer Moya O'Brien told the court her client still suffered from those injuries, which had seen him return to hospital while behind bars.”

“Ms O'Brien said Stephenson had little memory of the crash due to the injuries he sustained in it.”

“At the time, Stephenson had been just months away from completing his apprenticeship. Following the accident he was welcomed back to his employment and at the time of his remand into custody he was working back as an electrician,' Ms O'Brien said.”

“Ms O'Brien told the court Stephenson retained the support of his parents and long-time girlfriend.”

“In handing down his sentence, Magistrate Guillaume Bailin said he would have imposed a jail sentence on Stephenson had he not pleaded guilty.

'It's perhaps luck alone that no-one else was injured or you were killed,' he said.

RSBM
Or because he was absolutely blotto.

This could be where the defence is going. Wasn’t me, don’t remember it, blacked out, still off my face from the night before, drove straight home from Lal Lal Street through the bush to avoid the cops.

Yet the police say it was intentional. They are saying they can prove intent to murder.

How can he have "little memory of the crash due to head injuries", yet only have "mild head trauma"? They don't seem to gel to me.
I think she meant to say "he has little memory of the accident because he was paraletic and off his face".

October 1st, 2023, crash, due to him being 'blotto', according to all MSM reports, allegedly he maintained his regular blotto life up until February 4th, 2024 (Samantha Murphy), even possible for a short time up after until his arrest & now, O'Brien (one of his legals) claims, "still suffered from those injuries, which has seen him return to hospital while behind bars."

Always thinking of Samantha Murphy, her family, all those who know & love her; roll on JUSTICE for Samantha Murphy, every day is another day closer.

MOO, always MOO.

Agreed. Laying the groundwork to exploit the TBI angle, I reckon. And frankly I think half the young men my brother played AFL with have had multiple concussions and are at risk of brain changes for that reason, wonder if that will be a factor.

I wonder what kind of defence for an attack on a solitary woman could be exploited by any (potential) TBI.

Especially when he appears to have had mental/behavioural difficulties prior to any football playing or motorcycle crash.

(from thread 10, post 435)
Classmates from St Patrick’s College said he was often on the outer. That he struggled with his mental health. Welfare staff had to deal with frequent outbursts. He had eccentric behaviour. Was sometimes bullied. His mental health concerns were well known.

His family are described as lovely people, Great neighbours. Wonderful neighbours.

(Paraphrased from this article .... Accused killer Patrick Orren Stephenson shared love of footy with his dad)

Any realaustalian, ( trademarked) unlike a Dail Fail 'reporter, would twig onto Stephenson's current image as familiar, of course it is Ned Kelly, he's going for the Kelly look, and the Kelly defence.. 'the poilioce are always after me' ..

Mental impairment?

• the person did not know the nature and quality of the conduct, or

• the person was not capable of reasoning that the conduct was, or could reasonably be perceived as, wrong.

Which could be overcome (by the prosecution) because if he didn't know it was wrong, why did he go to great lengths (presumably) to hide Sam's body, throw her phone into a dam, and then envelop himself in a cone of silence?

imo

He has more in common with Adian Bayley, and Codey Herrmann and Jaymes Todd... they all had various degrees of brain trouble, some self induced, some genetic, some, just because,, also. .. the women they murdered, ordinary, lovely, prime of life, didn't know them from a can of paint. They, though, thought they had 'established some sort of relationship with them ' by accosting them out of the blue, and forcing themselves at them, this instigated some sort of ownership power driver in them, , and this might be what drove Stephenson.

Bayley thought he should 'offer assitance' to Mrs Meagher'.. she blew him off, he was smelly and ugly, naturally, he murdered her instantly.'

Codey thought this beautiful young woman should not be on what he believed was 'his' tram'.. he murdered her and set her alight.

Jaymes thought Eurydice looked like one of the female figures in his comics, so he followed her thru the city streets making up conversations with her, then got to a convenient dark corner and murdered Eurydice mercilessly.. that's all it takes...

One word, .. maybe even a look. Doesn't take much more
