That looks like a mighty tiny gun he’s got. Maybe just because of the camera angle? I don’t know.
If it is small maybe it’s unusual enough to trace it.

It looks like a “snub nose” revolver or what use to be a “Saturday night special like a .38 that’s easy to hide. I haven’t heard an update yet and I hope this doesn’t end up on the shelf.

While the picture is pretty blurry, to me it looks like it could be a High Standard Sentinel .22 caliber. Depending on where the victim was shot, I'd expect something more than non-life threatening injuries if it was a .38.
