AFAIK, Brittanee was not close to any of the girls she went to the beach with.

Kinda OT, but it is weird to me that she doesn't seem to have a MySpace or Facebook. It's driving me crazy.

I thought the mother was getting divorced from the step dad, why is her last name Drexel? Is she using this name since she is getting divorced or did Brittanee change her last name to the same as the step dad? Just wondering

Brittanee doesn't seem to have a facebook account, and if she does then Oberer is not a "facebook friend" with her. This is likely why Brittanee is not tagged in the photos like the other kids are. Facebook is set up to easily tag people on your friend list in photos by simply choosing the friend's name from a scroll-down list. Now, Oberer could have gone the distance to manually type in Brittanee's name to tag her in the photos...but she did not. I don't find this incredibly strange.

When I post pictures on facebook I generally do not tag a person in the photo if he/she doesn't have a facebook account. The only reason I do tag a friend in a photo is so the photo will show up on that friend's personal facebook page...which allows that friend to share the same photo with other friends on their friend list, etc.

I wouldn't find it strange that she didn't tag Brittanee because B is not a facebook friend... except the girl DID take the time to type out other names that were not facebook friends. There are multiple names that are manually typed in, in fact even though there are others typed in it seems that B is the only one not labeled...

det- good catch. I didn't look at all the pics so I didn't know she had manually typed some. Kinda hinky that she didn't type B's name then...

And why was she going on holiday states away with kids she barely knew? What were her "real" friends doing for SB? Why was she not with them?

Heck if I know. I'm still trying to figure out the when where and why of the hotel room switch.

I don't know the when and where, but I have an idea about the why... I heard the girls "wanted to stay longer." Maybe they rented the room for a few days, or a week, but then decided they had enough money to stay at the beach another day or two. If the room they had rented had already been rented for the next night, and the hotel was sold out (which often happens in MB during spring break) then they might have had to switch hotels to stay a bit longer.

But I still can't figure out, did they leave B's belongings in the old hotel when they switched? Was B ever at the new hotel? Did they leave B's things at the new hotel? Lost...

On the news tonight they said the boys are all cleared and the police are happy with their answers. They also said that they have new leads that are taking them into a different direction. They didn't say any more.

This might be a good time for a reminder on contacting people related to the case. I don't think Mr. Myspace dude is connected other than by inserting himself into this. But if he could be thought of as a potential suspect, all the more reason not to contact him, IMO. Remember the saying that curiosity killed the cat? That is about calling people at home. It doesn't seem to mean contacting them by email. If they put something like that up on myspace then contacting them through email I think is ok as long as Websleuths is left out of the discussion.

Brozowitz Questioned

Myrtle Beach Police have all but cleared a Peter Brozowitz, of Webster, of any possible involvement in Drexel's disappearance.

Dawn Drexel, who arrived Monday in Myrtle Beach, said she does not believe her daughter ran away, adding that she just "wanted to get away and have fun with her friends." The 17-year-old's parents are in the middle of a divorce and are selling their home, Dawn Drexel said.

Earlier somebody mentioned her father lived in FL and I'm 99% sure that's not the case. All of the media stuff being put out here has never mentioned that.

She has ties to Tampa. The teen's father and extended family live in the Bay area.
While Brittanee lives with her mother in New York, she visits her father in Florida from time to time. Her family says she was supposed to spend Spring Break at her father John's home in Carrollwood but she made a snap decision to go to Myrtle Beach with her friends instead.

I have not heard anything about Chad is he there searching for her also? I would think if he adopted her he would be close enough to her to be out helping in the search.

IMO, with posters talking about contacting people, I thought it would be good to post that reminder before it got to the phone calling and WS name using stage. And BTW, didn't a recent emailing incident get us all in trouble recently? So even emailing has to be done carefully. And I hope everyone is using throwaway emails and such. I'd hate to see fellow posters get spanked for TOS violations or put themselves in danger through the people they contact.

Chad Drexel considers himself a strict dad. So when his oldest daughter Brittanee asked if she could go to South Carolina he said no. Chad adopted her when she was a little girl. Brittanee's mother went down to look for her. Chad is staying in the area. "I figure I need to stay back here with our other two children and hold the fort in case she shows up here. In case she pops up I'm here. I'm right her for her," said Chad Drexel.






Chad knows his daughter was out of state until she went missing. He got the call Saturday night. "The thought I have in my mind are I just want to know her physical being. Where is my daughter," asked Chad.

This is EXACTLY what made my hinky meter go off when I saw the pics. Girl can manually type in everyone else's name under the sun EXCEPT for Brittanee's - you know, Brittanee, the girl who is now MISSING after going on a spring break trip with YOU???!!!!! Um, excuse me, but why doesn't she deserve your recognition again???
