I wonder what type of lead &/or tip led LE to that specific location? I always seem to consider this same question in every case... when searches are conducted in locations that seem both random and incredibly narrow at the same time.
When LE looks at cell phone pings, to what extent are they able to pinpoint the location of the phone that sent the signal (assuming there is no stingray or similar technology involved)? I'm sure it varies based on the remoteness of the area and proximity of other cell tower locations, but does anyone have a rough estimate? Like are we talking miles or a few hundred feet?
(I'm completely ignorant on this type of stuff. Sometimes I wish I could go to police academy just to learn about the investigative aspect---they can keep the fitness part of it and the job placement afterwards.
