SC SC - Dail Dinwiddie, 23, Columbia, 24 Sep 1992

First-time poster here! I'm a native South Carolinian, and this case has never left my mind. Not too long ago, I searched for info about Dail on Reddit and came across a very recent, and very curious post from someone naming a suspect. I'm unsure if I can link it here or even mention the name, but he's a convicted murderer already serving a life sentence (not Renaldo Rivera). If you search Dail's name on Reddit, you'll see the thread from 3 months ago. I forwarded the post along to the Richland County Sheriff's Office and received an email back from Sheriff Lott confirming receipt of my tip. Likely a theory they've heard before and investigated, but I'd never heard that name mentioned, so worth a shot!

Welcome!
Someone alerted me to that info on Reddit about a month ago. I’m glad you tipped it in to the sheriff’s department.
It was certainly a different story and scenario from what we usually hear. I checked a little into it and one of the names mentioned is incorrect in one of the peripheral stories. It’s unclear whether that would blow their whole story up or it’s just an honest mistake.
It certainly would explain why the investigation went nowhere.

OK. This is out there, but we’re all friends here, so here goes. A food for thought post. I’m just interested in y’all’s thoughts.
Today, I saw a post about a girl from Indiana that went missing in 1993 and is a cold case. Her name was Tricia Lynn Reitler. I had never heard of the case. It included a stylized portrait of the victim and my first thought was that she looked a lot like Dail Dinwiddie.
I searched around for information and it was interesting to find that Larry DeWayne Hall had been suspected in her disappearance, actually confessing to it and then recanting. This is Larry Hall, the Civil War reenactor that was a serial killer who roamed around kidnapping and killing young women. He’s the guy I looked into at some point concerning DD but only found there was a reenactment near Atlanta at the time of DD’s disappearance and not much more.
I found out today that Hall made a statement to LE about his victims saying “they all looked alike”. I sure think DD looks like this possible victim. Hall is only in jail for killing one girl though LE suspects he’s probably killed 20 or 30.
I don’t know if Hall ever came this far south.
Just thinking out loud, mostly just because I think DD looks like the victim.

Wow, they do look alike. I watched the show Black Bird and started looking more into Hall after watching that. Definitely a unique individual to say the least. I think most of his crimes would be "of opportunity" in close proximity to where he was. I could definitely be wrong; however, unless there was some reason for him to be up in Columbia, I don't see him driving hours for an opportunity. Although with her disappearance still being unsolved decades later, it is good to look outside the obvious.

So coincidental that I was in Five Points yesterday and thought about Dail, I always do when I drive though there. I hope one day her disappearance will be solved and any update is good news, imo!

I think it's plausible he could be involved.

Looks like the reenactment in Barboursville, WV, has been an annual or biannual event for decades. Could be he or more reenactors swung through Columbia after the even in Georgia. Perhaps to look at some Civil War items, or maybe check out the history in Columbia. It sure fascinated me when I lived there. The state house alone is a marvel, and was attacked as it sat partly built in early 1865.

I just saw this.
This Brashers guy raped and killed a woman in Greenville SC in 1990.
His murders seem all over the place.
Just wondering if he might be responsible for Dail Dinwiddie’s?
