Brothers still processing 2015 disappearance of Mt. Pleasant man

After almost 10 years since a Mount Pleasant man vanished, his family says he has not been forgotten, even though they have different ideas about what may have happened.

Investigators with the Mount Pleasant Police Department said another possible search is in the works for him. They plan to work with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office to coordinate a search in Georgetown County where his phone had previously pinged.

A dive team on Aug. 5 found a vehicle submerged in the Black River in Georgetown County. It held human remains and is registered to a missing Mt. Pleasant man.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office has identified the human remains that were found in a submerged vehicle in the Black River earlier this month.

Coroner Chase Ridgeway said Friday the remains belong to Daniel Riggs, of Mount Pleasant.

Myrtle Beach man uses homemade sonar device to solve second cold case in months

The answers came from the help of a Myrtle Beach man and his boogie board.

'In June, Jason Souhrada was in the news after his sonar device found a car at the bottom of a North Carolina creek with three missing men inside, closing a 40-year-old cold case.
Since then, he's used his free time to scan bodies of water along the Grand Strand, where he found another car.
"We took them down to the nearest boat landing, which was down here off of Bay Road and Enterprise," Souhrada said. "There was a landing down there. I just put it in the water, I wanted to be productive with it, so I went ahead and just scanned that area, and sure enough there was a car in the water there."
The car turned out to be stolen, but it inspired him to research missing people in the area. His search turned up Daniel Riggs.'
