It looks as if Chacho (his nickname) was headed from Miami back home to D.C. when he went missing. Hopefully he found a ride there and just hasn't been seen yet. Seems as if he would have made contact w/ family by now though, especially during the holidays. I don't think this FB group/post is official enough to request a name change in the title. I removed names and personal contact info from the post below. Family members have commented. BBM

Sad update :(

Body identified as man missing in Orangeburg County case

A body discovered in a field near St. George back on Sept. 13, 2020, has been identified as a man reported missing in Orangeburg County a month prior, Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers said Tuesday.

Brouthers said the body belonged to Erick Yobany Rubio-Flores of Fairhaven Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia.

On Sept. 16, 2020, the remains were taken for anthropological autopsy.

The cause and manner of Rubio-Flores’ death are ruled as undetermined at this time, Brouthers said.

TY for the update @mlhenn. :(

Rest in peace, Chacho. Hopefully they'll get answers soon so justice, if necessary, is served on whomever is responsible for your death. My condolences to his loved ones.

I'm not sure what to make of the "friend's" story. The rest area near Santee (where Chacho & friend stopped) is about 15 - 20 driving minutes north of the St. George exit (where Chacho's remains were found). Why did Chacho decide to walk southbound back toward FL when he was closer to VA? Heck, even the closest exit off of I-95 was just a few miles north of where they were when he supposedly left walking. Did they have a disagreement? Was Chacho experiencing a mental health crisis? I'd like to hope LE is re-interviewing said "friend" and keeping a close eye on him until the autopsy results come back.

The brother told deputies that Rubio-Flores and a friend were traveling back to Virginia from Miami on Interstate 95 northbound when they stopped around 10:30 p.m. at the rest area near Santee. The brother said when the friend exited the restroom, he didn’t see Rubio-Flores but soon discovered he was walking on the side of the interstate in the direction of oncoming traffic, the report states. The friend wasn’t able to drive in that direction to reach Rubio-Flores, so he turned around and then returned to the rest area vicinity. But he wasn’t able to find him at that point, the report states.

ETA - I requested a title change to reflect Chacho's full name: Erick Yobany Rubio-Flores
