The point was, ppl here have made up there minds publicly without LE confirming anythingI disagree. I reckon police have enough to reasonably believe he was involved hence the 'public is safe' response. I suspect Faye will have DNA on her body (skin cells, hair, semen) that will match CT and will seal the deal with his involvement unfortunately.

We may never know what the other person 's intentions are. We all think and process things differently. Bottomline, kids should roam the outdoors with out having to become a victim but evil is present everywhere. Sad. JMONormally I'm 100% against the thought line that leads to the "internet made me do it" conclusion. But to some degree, I would have to admit that the prevalence and easy availability of such imagery might lead to a certain degree of normalization of behaviors, at least in the mind of someone who's unbalanced and unchecked. But at the same time, I would think that the sea of arrests for childin the media might serve as that deterrent. I felt the same way about To Catch a Predator, though, and people keep falling for that, so I guess weak people with bad instincts are going to continue to succumb to them.
The only emotion in the world that could ever make me commit suicide would be guilt. Maybe he wasn’t a total sociopath and couldn’t handle what he’d done.

Ok, so no arrests, no suspects, not seeking a person of interest, and all we know is that Coty is linked. So how exactly is the community safe? Seems like that contradicting statements. If you are claiming to have no suspect and not seeking arrests, then it would imply that someone is still out there, or they are just waiting for confirmation on the autopsy before confirming which I understand.

In the beginning we promised you daily case updates and that's what we're here to do today. Before we get into this too far I won't ever want to continue to pray for Faye Swetlik. This has been a horrible situation for our community and department. I want to thank you for your patience with us as a department. Yesterday was a tough day possibly the toughest in some of our law enforcement careers.
Some of you have requested 911 audio from the initial report. I'm happy to say that we have that for you. This morning . They have been redacting personal information over the last few hours. I will have that out for you in a few short minutes after this press conference.
Yesterday you saw investigators and agents with SLED and the Federal Bureau of Investigation following city of Cayce Municipal sanitation trucks through the neighborhood of Churchill Heights emptying trash cans and looking to see what came out before it was entered into the truck.
As part of that search a critical item of evidence related to our investigation of bringing Faye Swetlik home. Based on that discovery, we narrowed down a area that we felt as an investigative team that we needed to go back to and look for more evidence. Director Byron Snellgrove and other leaders area planning another methodical a another search of the area even though we've been there multiple times . We were going back . During the early planning stages of that search, director Byron Snellgrove located the body of Faye Marie Swetlik.
What we can tell you is this investigation in based on the information on the preliminary information that we received from the coroner's office had not been in that location for a very long time at all. A short time later after locating Faye Marie Swetlik, we located a deceased male at 602 Picadilly Square and what I'ld like to do now is to let Lexington County coroner Margaret Fisher step up to make ID on that person.
Margaret Fisher: Hey everybody I want to say thank you okay so diligently and thank you for your patience and allow in my office and all the other law enforcement agencies to to handle business and to get me information we need and you guys have been so patient with waiting on all the news releasesy so we really do appreciate that.
I'm here to identify the male that was found at the scene. I'll spell his name is going to be a Caucasian male . He is 30 years old. His first name is Coty. Middle name is Scott. Last name is Taylor. He did reside at 602 Picadilly Square and as you know the autospy for him will probably be on Saturday as well and we won't know any information on the cause of death until after the autopsy is completed and then at that time will I'm sure we'll do another news release and give you that information but it's going to be Saturday probably by Saturday afternoon we'll know more about about him okay. Thank you.

He was not a friend. He was merely a neighbor who lived in Churchill Heights. The body of Coty Taylor was located at his residence, but I'm not going to get into specifics but it was it was at his residence .

Yes ma'am, so I just I want to clarify we do still have an open investigation that right now what we are looking at is just what i gave you, but because we don't have any suspects now, we want to make sure there's not anyone else involved in The Disappearance of Faye Marie Swetlik so I can tell you it was a critical piece of evidence and what i can confirm it is it was a critical piece of evidence that would have been listed on the missing persons flyer

Coroner: I'm not going to stand up here and speculate on his cause of death at this time we're going to wait to cooperate with her friends of pathologist before we say anything about that I do have a date of birth for him it is 3/19/1989 they will know more about his cause of death tomorrow.

A: I am not gonna comment on the condition of her body. It would be insensitive at this time

This poor mom that I’m guilty of vilifying will never ever forgive herself for turning her back for 15 minutes. And we SHOULD be allowed to let our kids play and run in to pee or grab a snack or sweep a floor. I am ashamed of myself for making assumptions. I really am. MOO

I am curious if the police have been able to contact the family of Coty Taylor yet? I am curious to know more about his family and upbringing which will probably be quite some time before we find out additional information. From what we do know, education wise, he was to 10 percent of class, very involved in school, seemed like ideal student. So I would like to guess based on that, he upbringing must to somewhat stable.
We must remember, even though this individual may have done this terrible disgusting act, he still has a family and siblings, people who have absolutely zero to do with the crime and now they become victims themselves with media and society judging the way they raised their children.

Faye's grandmother wrote on her FB that if you go into a Wells Fargo and mention Faye they have an account set up for the family. Sounds a bit suss to me but its the grandmother who wrote it so it must be true.
Awww- I respect you so much for this post. I’ve made posts I came to regret too on other cases. We can always just apply what we learn to future cases.

Factual.
I have not come across anything as of yesterday. I was assuming they would set up a charity page or perhaps recommend a charity of their choice to donate to for Faye. If not, I'll just donate to Equality Now or one of the many Missing Children Organizations that are legit and use their money wisely.

<3 <3 This is a very emotional case and it’s hard to not jump to conclusions. I too have to tell myself not to all the time in lots of life situations. We are looking for answers.
I was very suspicious of Heidi Broussard’s fiancé and was sooo wrong with those thoughts...

In a post on her Facebook page, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher says, "Sweet little baby girl Faye Swetlik is going to get a police escort back to Lexington County from Charleston by Charleston County Sheriff’s Office motorcade! My heart goes out to Charleston for bringing this baby girl home with dignity!!!"

We all make mistakes. This is an emotional website dealing with some of the sickest horrors society has to offer. When dealing with people, we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are creatures of emotion.
It takes character and self control to be understanding and forgiving. Especially to oneself. We all make mistakes. The positive thing is Websleuths is one of the few social media sites out there where everyone seems respectful and forgiving for the most part.
