So was she at school yesterday? Was she on the school bus? Did the bus driver see if she went home or to the neighbors house? Why is there not a parent or adult that is waiting for her at the bus stop? She's very young, I know here in NC, an adult must be present at the bus stop for kids her age. They aren't allowed to just get off the bus and go wherever...
Apologies if this has already been answered, but what happens if noone is there to collect a child? Having been turfed off a school bus myself even though my mum wasn't there to collect me, back in the day. I wondered what the procedure is. Does the bus wait for CPS, do they try and keep them on the bus? What if the kid hops off before anyone can stop them or refuses to stay put?

Do we know if she has older siblings? Hoping she wasn't dropped off and alone for a long period of time.

The photo I posted previously is Faye getting off her school bus yesterday

WLTX article:

Photo shows missing SC girl getting off school bus

Cayce Department of Public Safety officers have released a photo that shows when a missing girl got off her school bus, a moment not long before the child was last seen.

[...]

The photo released Tuesday morning was taken with a bus surveillance camera and Swetlik right before she exited the vehicle Monday, including the clothes she was wearing at the time.

Capt. Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said they can confirm she rode the bus home from school and got off. She was believed to be playing in her yard and was last seen around 3:45 p.m.

The general mood from the police update makes me think they believe she's been abducted as opposed to gotten herself lost. This is honestly heartbreaking.

In our county, only children in kindergarten and younger have to have an adult pick them from the bus or school. First graders on up can get off the bus and walk home from school by themselves.

I am picturing Faye getting off the bus and playing, waiting for someone to arrive home, whether they were late getting home or whether this was a daily occurrence.

Unfortunately this gives me really strong vibes of the case where the little girl was riding her bike and was lured by a teenage boy living a rew doors up. Kept her under his bed then got rid of her later.
It gives the impression of being a close proximity incident. MOO

Will very happily be wrong on this one.

Ugh this breaks my heart. Our youngest is 6 and we have to physically be present for them to let him off of the bus. Our district in NY has door-to-door pickup and drop off for all children in 2nd grade or younger. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember. We literally live 2 blocks from school and he is prohibited from walking -which we wouldn’t let him anyways- just stating the rules we have here. I wish that was the case for all children, especially with the crazy drivers and kidnappings.

This reporter says that police officer went to the shell station (looks like a circle k) and watched surveillance video and wrote down a couple time stamps. The manager told her they didn’t take video and couldn’t anyway because it would have to be cleared thru corporate.

The Shell station is close.

The fact that they took time stamps means what? They were looking at certain vehicles? Individuals? Purchases?

The home in Cayce that 6-yr-old Faye Swetlik disappeared from yesterday afternoon. There’s crime scene tape on the door, and a huge search involving hundreds of people. FBI, sled agents and many local police, fire and rescue agencies as well. I spoke to neighbors who stayed out all night searching with them. Details ahead at noon on Channel 9.

Her school lets out at 2:25. She lives about six miles from school, which doesn't mean much - it could take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour for her to get home. (My kids lived two miles from school but were last off their bus - took 45 minutes to get home!)

So she got off the bus, either went in the house and came back out, or just played in the yard straight off the bus.

A "family member" saw her playing in the yard at 3:45 - at that point she could have been out there only a few minutes, or up to an hour, depending on when the bus dropped her off.

If she lives with her mother, then that family member would probably be her mother...yes? Or an older sibling? Or....? Kind of odd that they aren't mentioning who saw her last.

Then they looked out around 5 pm for her, and didn't see her.
