Tim Scott‏ @TimScottTV 43m43 minutes ago
Defense shows receipts from McDonalds and Red Lobster. Lorick says she doesn't recall stopping at McDonalds on the trip (the receipt says they had a 20 piece McNugget meal); instead, she recalls stopping at Chick-fil-A.

Tim Scott‏ @TimScottTV 41m41 minutes ago
Defense shows pictures of the Jones children from their trip to Disney and Sea World. One picture had all five of the children, while a couple had the three oldest (Merah, Elias, Nahtahn).

Lorick says if she never called DSS, "nothing will be done."
She also says that the children were never allowed to talk about their mother. They showed her a picture album one day. Lorick has been crying at various points in her testimony.

Ex-girlfriend of man who killed his 5 kids says he was ‘overangry’ but not insane

May 29, 2019

"LEXINGTON — The ex-girlfriend of Timothy Jones Jr., who faces the death penalty for killing his five children, said Wednesday he whipped them so hard, she could hear it through the walls.

“He was overangry. He should’ve calmed himself down before he took discipline actions,” Chrystal Ballentine told jurors. “I could hear it and couldn’t do nothing about it. Every time I did, we’d get in a battle. It caused a lot of conflict.”

The beatings caused bruising, she said. She walked out in summer 2013 when “he looked like he was going to whip” her daughter, who was less than a year old at the time, for knocking over a drink or something similarly minor. It was the final straw.

“He didn’t get to her, but it was leading to that point,” said Ballentine, who testified she was legally blind. “I just left.”...

Ballentine discounted the insanity defense.

“He knew what was right and wrong. He knew about God — what you should do in life. He was pretty sure of himself and pretty sure of everything,” she said, noting Jones’ alcohol of choice was Crown Royal, as “everybody knows liquor gets you drunk quicker.”

She was among a litany of Jones’ former babysitters who testified Wednesday, starting with Jodie Durney, who began watching Jones’ then-four children in 2012...."

The father of a man facing the death penalty after killing his five children says he never thought his son should have had children.

Timothy Jones Sr. testified Wednesday that he was proud of his son for making it through college and getting a nice computer job, but Timothy Jones Jr. was too religious and strict and got angry too quickly.

Father of man on trial for murdering his five children claims he would spank the kids and then preach to them, while babysitter who became his girlfriend at 17 said she could hear him hitting the kids through the walls

29 May 2019

"The father of the Kentucky man who is on trial for killing his five children said he believes his son was in the equivalent of a 'cult' and wasn't 'worthy' to have children.

Timothy Jones Sr took the stand on Wednesday to testify in the trial of his son Timothy Jones Jr. ...

Timothy Jones Sr testified that his son changed after he served a year in prison for cocaine possession, burglary, and car theft.

Shortly after his release in 2003, Jones joined a Pentecostal church in Chicago.

Timothy Jones Sr said he believed his son was in the equivalent of a 'cult' as he became deeply religious.

He recalled that he once walked in on his son spanking Merah before he started preaching to her.

Timothy Jones Sr also revealed he begged his son not to marry Amber Kyzer, saying he didn't think Jones was in the right place to get married. He also didn't believe Kyzer or Jones were 'worthy' to raise children. ..

Also taking the stand was Joy Lorick, a former babysitter for the family who went on trips with them to Disney World and Myrtle Beach.

Lorick said she witnessed Jones spanking Nahntahn, six, and Gabriel, two, with a belt on the Disney trip, which occurred just a few weeks before they and their siblings were murdered.

She said the children also begged her not to tell Jones when she fed them because then he would not feed them, according to WACH. ..."

Timothy Jones Jr. trial | testimony in trial of man accused of killing his children.

Streamed live May 29, 2019

I’ve been watching this trial and it’s been tough to watch. But Joy Lorick’s testimony today(5/29) was heartbreaking. Hearing her say “Those children loved their Daddy” as tears streamed down her face and then hearing her detail all the horrific things their Daddy did to them was shocking beyond words. The tears were streaming down my face too. He beat them, his other discipline measures were basically torture and he starved them. Yet all their pictures show smiling little faces. So very sad.
My thought, Tim Jones Jr wanted custody of all the children to punish Amber, his wife, for no longer submitting to his control. Caring for five young children is hard and it wore him down and he became depressed. He let himself go and his house became a pigsty. The prosecution has already proven he had a history of losing his temper. This case comes down to did he kill his children because he is mentally ill or because he got too angry. I think he got too angry and loss control.
After today’s testimony frankly I don’t care if he is schizophrenic, they don’t have to execute him, I want him in jail for the rest of his life. I want him punished, they can treat him in prison if need be, but I want him away from me, away from all children, and away from everybody.
