Agree Surfie. Mom has not stated she won't (to my knowledge) and LE has simply said they would never ask such a thing of her. Neither of those two things add up to mom hasn't tried to confront him. Who knows, she may well have tried, and been denied access by the accused. unfortunately Grant holds all the cards right now and he isn't cooperating.

He's been in and out of the system so much, he knows how to play 'the game.' He knows the burden of proof falls on the state and the evidence. Last thing he is going to do is give up where Gabbiee is, as that's a sure life (or death) sentence.

Sad, but true.

<snipped>
Meanwhile, Grant's attorney, Fielding Pringle, says the sheriff is poisoning the jury pool and possibly jeopardizing Grant's ability to have a fair trial, and is requesting a gag order.

The original gag order motion was filed on August 30, with documents supporting the request for that order added days later. A judge will hear arguments Friday morning.

She may not have known anything about Adrianna, the missing ex. It looks like she wasn't given much media exposure as a missing persons..

As for mom not knowing about the type of guy Grant is.. For now, I think I'll give her the benefit of doubt. I came to WS in May to follow the Mickey Shunick case and I quickly got hooked. I read tons of threads here daily and I'm just baffled that SO MANY PEOPLE are missing or murdered. I would never consider myself naive but I still read things here that shock me daily. I know the world is full of evil. I have young children and if it wouldn't psychologically and socially damage them, I would be temped to build a bunker for us to all live in, protected from the evil. Since that's not possible, I have been making changes to be more aware, more safe. Because of this case, if I were to find myself a single mom in the future, I will be doing some background checks on whoever comes around my children. It honestly never occurred to me before, so I can understand and sympathize with Gabbiee's mom about her not doing it on Grant. I am sure she is feeling the guilt and blame enough but it's important to remember that the blame lies squarely with Grant. He made the choice to abduct Gabbiee. He may have made the same choice even if she were a complete stranger to him...

I totally agree with you being shocked at what is going on out there!!! I came on here because of Morgan Harrington, as my husband is a big metallica fan. And coming from the quite a remote part of australia (well large city as in over 200 000 is 1400 kms away) I was blown away that this stuff was real and not just in movies or episodes of law and order. I think I have bored many bbq guests and coffee friends when I go into my "there is this case at the moment...." talk, my husband just nods now. I also think the majority of the public out there do not realize just how much evil. tragedy, neglect and abuse is out there. Thats why I keep rabbiting on about it being put out there, shows like 60 mins etc need to get the message across about being more protective of your children.

I have to add that we are having more and more of this stuff here as well.....Zahra baker came from the little town I grew up in......just a week ago a girl from Ayr where I went to school went missing........she met up with a guy she met on the internet from my city (pop 200 000) and he killed her.

But I have got to say.............it really has worsen in the 3 or 4 years I have been on here!!!! a child went missing and it was big news and on here that childs name was known by everyone.....NOw it seems as though it is every 3 days there is another one..

Oh that just pisses me off Mr Pringle!!!!! He is a monster!! How do you explain the duct tape and the cell phone ping?? Good grief!! Criminals these days have more rights than victims!! When did our country begin to accept such behavior?? I don't give a crap if mom had married this "monster". Nothing gives Grant the right to take a child from her room and do whatever horrible things he may have done. I say JUSTICE FOR GABBIEE!!!

Maybe because one of the strategies being contemplated by Grant's attorneys is to throw Gabbie's Mom under the bus?

I guess that's a possibility but considering the fact it's already been established (however reluctantly) that FG had a relationship with ES and the fact they were dating at the time Gabbiee went missing, I'm not sure I follow the logic. Whatever the situation, all I know for sure is it's a very bizarre case! It will be interesting to eventually find the strategies being used and their subsequent purpose. With the FBI's involvement, every single statement & presser being released is a very calculated & well orchestrated strategy on behalf of LE.

I also found it interesting that Sheriff Lott showed the actual key & key holder at the last presser. It would have been sufficient to say "we found the key to her house hanging on the wall in his house", so I can't help but think showing the actual key was for a specific reason...

The key was discovered by investigators as they searched Freddie Grant’s Elgin home, Lott said. The key was one of several on a lanyard that was hanging in the room where Grant slept. Grant’s house on Kelly Street had burned several years ago and he primarily lived in one room there, the sheriff said.

It would be interesting to know what those other keys on his lanyard unlocked...

Maybe they are evidence for other crimes...

I am sure LE are looking into those other keys, too!

Yes. Agreed. I have believed from the moment this man was named suspect that the answer to Gabbiee's location will come down to other buildings/properties this "handy man" had access to. Those keys are interesting indeed.

I also agree with PaigeSC, I found it odd that LE actually showed us the keys and lanyard.

Maybe the keys will be very damning to Grant, and not just the one which accesses Gabbiee's home.

Motion for gag order filed by Freddie Grant's attorney, Fielding Pringle

http://www.scribd.com/doc/105120024/Motion-for-Gag-Order-by-Freddie-Grant

Interesting how he claims Sheriff Lott continues to "minimize" the relationship between the mother & FG. Wonder why that makes any difference.

the way I understood it when I read that on these documents, I'd that it heightened the public's fear of Grant't being the handyman/boogeyman...

I tend to think that the lawyer is trying to paint a picture that Gabbiee's mom invited him into,her home, thereby, having responsibility in some way for Gabbiee's disappearance.

I am certainly NO legal expert.. And these are just my thoughts.

Good idea!

Possibly the other keys could be recognized by viewers of buildings Grant had access to... Possible hiding places of Gabbiee?

The Casey Anthony defense. Throw enough crap at the walls and see what sticks.

Since his house is partially burned out, I wonder if he has a storage unit somewhere. . .or is storing stuff at a friend's or relative's.

I can tell you one thing, anyone acquainted with this man and who even suspect he may have access to their homes, buildings, garages, land, whatever, should be searching those areas immediately or contacting LE to have them do so.

Knowing the horror that Gabbiee's mom probably feels, having dated the suspect who may have harmed her daughter, I can only imagine it would be equally horrific to discover the body on/in your property and know its been there this whole time.

{ugggh}

The only way to look at blood and make the assumption that the person is dead is if there is so much blood, a person could not live after having lost that much.

Nancy Grace is covering this right now. What a shame that she is missing.

They just said Gabbie's hair stuck on duct tape was found in his house and across the street from his house.

WHY HAS MOM NOT GONE TO THAT JAIL AND CONFRONTED HIM???????????? If my child were out there unfound, I would at least give it a shot. What does she have to lose?
