I agree. Some people are just afraid to use the anonymous lines and I dont blame them at all. I like the idea of a drop box as a supplement to providing anonymous tips. But even at one of those it would have to be in an obscure location with no cameras around and nobody around to help a person feel comfortable dropping off a tip.

I can think of many reasons why a tipster with helpful info would be reluctant to provide a tip unless they felt it was definite anonymous. One quick example is if the person providing the tip happens to have family members that are involved with drugs and they dont want family member getting into trouble or having LE show up unexpectedly for more questions about the tip.

I would be willing to bet that some box drop tips come in pretty bizarre. Like using cut-out letters taped together to form a note. Or written left handed by right handed person

first post here, but i have been lurking quite a long while. I will do my level best to not be in violation of tos here. I believe it is very possible that he was abducted by a stranger. A stranger to her but maybe not a stranger to the person she was on the phone with. Imo, she could have been led to believe that this person was safe to go with, and she would be united with the person on the phone when said person could get away without suspicion. It's thinking outside the box for certain, but i believe it is very possible that she was lured to ptl for the sole purpose of making her disappear. I hope she is found safe and was just held against her will, but the more time that passes, the more than seems less realistic. Imo

The initial call was for an "ABANDONED VEHICLE". The officer's goal was to get it moved away from PTL. I remember from my Police days, I used to get a lot of calls of this nature about vehicles left in shopping centers or malls. The 1st step after inspecting the vehicle and running the plates to checkfor stolen is to contact the owner and find out why it is there. Most of the time, the car would be broken down or simply wouldn't start or whoever was driving it left it there and rode off with someone else with the intention of picking it up later. Police Depts. get a lot of calls like this and they almost never come to anything.

I don't think LE or TE suspected anything initially. I believe the "20 minutes" came into play a bit later after TE had moved the vehicle and tried to call HE. I'm sure the officer looked into the vehicle prior to calling TE to see if anything looked suspicious. I don't think anything was initially found to suggest HE was a victim of a crime. I feel it was after TE had talked with BW that he realized she didn't walk away.

except the original xojane article stated he was calling from PTL at the car???I also noticed that they weren't really sure if Heather was away and they waited for her sceduled shift at TK 4pm Dec20?? Something was said about the fact she NEVER missed work. After all she is 20 years old & maybe she did this kinda stuff (leave at a whim) on a regular basis-she did have 5 days off?

Well for starters, I really do not appreciate the way you misrepresented my words with your section of a quote. As I had said "Actually I'm fairly certain that it does have to do with illegals and also with those who may worry their tip could implicate them." If you are going to quote me please quote the entire sentence, not just a section that does not accurately represent the truth of my statement.

As for what information I have, here you go:

1) I am a local, I know first hand the makeup of the local community and that there are a lot of people here who are illegal, or participate in questionable activities. There are also some that just plain don't trust the local police.

2) I also know that there is a strong Spanish speaking base in the Socastee area.

3) The Elvis' made a direct point of finding someone to translate their flyers into Spanish to be printed.

4) They also made a point to find Spanish speaking volunteers to spread them throughout that community. I myself have found volunteers to do so as well since I had the misfortune of choosing to take French in school instead of Spanish.

To me that says they are aware of that community enough to understand that they may have witnessed something important, as well as be afraid or unwilling to come forward to local law enforcement.

I do hope that answers your question satisfactorily. As you can see I have no direct information from TE or LE, just publicly known local facts which support my opinion.

I have seen that debated, and I don't feel this is the place to go into it, though I will say my problem is not with either of those words, it's with calling them Aliens. Even those who are here legally/documented are still issued an Alien Number. That bugs me wayyyy more than the other two words.

Wanted to add one thing to this...Probably the best chance of stranger abduction would have been if HE was spotted alone in her car driving towards PTL and was followed there and nabbed.

or if she was in heated exchanges (roomie did state Heather was upset) maybe she was so busily focused on exchanges and didn't pay attention to her surroundings on a dark,lonely PTL? It would seem to me that would be a perfect opportunity for a stalker,etc to take advantage of her letting her guard down??
I'm assuming when young people go on a date they drink? Maybe she was still feeling happy,buzzed and so was even further not thinking very straight??

Maybe, but TE sounded very insistent that it was "after 20 minutes." I guess my question would be "Twenty minutes after what?," if not after going to PTL and seeing the car, talking to the officer, opening the car, and presumably making some phone calls.

I think it would be another way for people who don't feel comfortable w/tip lines or LE. Most people might think dropping a letter in the mail is a lot more anonymous & even illegals etc used to letters as a form of conveying info. Besides if across the world,it would be cheaper than a phone call?? Didn't the Zodiac killer or others use letters as a form of taunting LE? On a side note-even the Son of Sam was a postal worker!

Thanks CarolinaAsh. As a local,in your opinion,is it fair to assume that many of the support positions (busboys,dishwasher) in hospitality industries or other late nite positions might be held by those who spoke a foreign language??

Yes, BUT:
She likely took her purse/wallet/ID/whatever, her keys and then locked the car. If she was nabbed by a stranger or stalker, it is doubtful that she would take the time to do those actions. If a stranger took her and her personal belongings, why would he or she lock the car?

IIRC Heather apparently left her license on the seat?? So maybe if going out to meet someone you'd throw your real drivers license on the seat in cse you get pulled over? Meanwhile you'd have your purse,phone on you? Maybe PTL could have been used as a meeting place considering how her car was parked there?
