The standard for the grand jury is basically: if law enforcement is telling the truth, and taking that truth in the light most favorable to the state, is it likely that a crime was committed and that these defendants committed this crime. The standard rules of evidence do not apply. Grand juries indict about 99.5% of the cases brought before them.

The standard is obviously much higher in a trial.

I'm new to posting here, so some of my comments are in the quote. Sorry

Thank you! BBM - that is a really high percentage!

Hello everyone. Can any locals please chime in and help? If the Ms put Heather in the water at PTL could the currents have pulled her into the ocean and washed her up at Bald Head? TIA for any ideas and/or insight.

I posted a map a few posts above ^^^^^

Is this the island where TM mentioned seeing wild horses?

I think that was Assateague Island...don't remember exactly.

71.6 miles from the center of Myrtle Beach to the center of Bald Head Island.

Looks like that's by land...wonder if the currents could've carried in that direction if she was put in the water.

As grizzly as it is, I hope it's Heather. Would be a crazy coincidence given the significance of today.

Yikes...hopefully they'll get an ID soon. Any chance it could be Heather?

I wish they would've given some info, any info. Possible male or female?? Possible age??
Do the currents move in that direction? Furthermore does the current always travel the same direction or are there factors that influence this?

Someone with a boat could have dumped her in the Cape Fear and she could end up at BHI. Maybe that boat person is one of the other people they have talked about.

Thanks Lovejac your map is actually why I asked. I was wondering specifically about currents and if anyone locally had any insight into if it is possible to go from PTL to Bald Head.

On a four o'clock rush clean, have you ever checked out FlyLady's Crisis Cleaning 101? I adore her. You can get your house presentable in 45 minutes. She talks you through it ALL. Try it, you'll be hooked. It's my go-to for "surprise" visitors.

This is the BEST! :thumb:

I saved it on my notebook!

Sorry! I don't know a thing about currents except to try and stay out of them when I'm in the ocean :blushing:
