She may have been beaten about the face and eyes so badly she could not see what happened next with her daughter. You could have severe facial injuries and not be ' life threatening' but still need medical attention to monitor and save sight, etc. I'm speculating it could be something like this.
If the family knew the POI there would be a name to go on so my guess is the mom does not know him by name. I fear for why he'd want a 4 yr old child.

That was my thought. I don’t think the mom new the person at all.

Wish we had more details about mom's condition. Could she not speak for hours? Couldn't have the 2 year old bring her a phone? Ask the 2 year old to push certain buttons if she couldn't. I have so many questions.

I got the impression from various articles that she was unconscious for a large portion of the time.

They may not have meant it this way, but LE seems to be throwing some shade Mom's way. Unwanted "guest"?? An unwanted guest is your annoying relative, not a person who beats you to the point of unconsciousness and kidnaps your child.

I believe in the press conference they said ‘uninvited guest’ and then specified “the individual was not invited into the home”. That was the LE response to ‘was this a home invasion” question. I think LE is trying to provide as much info as they can without saying it was a home invasion since they don’t know the motive. If the mom was attacked as she was going in the house and rendered unconscious, she may not have many details or know what happened. It sounds like she has a pretty severe head injury if she was unconscious for so long.

Maybe her jaw is broken and she had limited ability to talk? The poor woman was beaten severely- she could have two black eyes, a broken nose and jaw for all we know. I'm going to let the poor lady recover and give her some time to answer these questions. Her baby is missing, she's in the hospital in fair condition and can't do a blessed thing to help find her daughter even if she wanted to. I can't imagine how horrifying and devastating this has to be for her.

Personally, I think there's a sicko around that neighborhood who wanted H for himself and did what he had to do to get her. This could be another Jessica Lunsford case, only the mother was awake and he beat her before she had a chance to try and save her daughter from being taken.

Sounds like they're looking at all angles. Processing the vehicle sounds like they are checking for a possible carjacking. Maybe this person jumped in her car and made her drive home. This is so horrific........I pray for this Mom and Dad. It's not going to be a happy outcome for this child, I fear. JMO

BBM This is what concerns me also. I hope to heaven this isn't a case of some sicko who watched that little girl with her mother (a previous comment mentioned that the mom was known to her neighbors and that she played with her children outside), became infatuated with her and decided to abduct her for god knows what.

I'm afraid poor H was the target all along.He beat mom because she would stop him from taking the girl.I can't stand to think of the reasons he would want her.I imagine LE are checking all known child molesters in the area.

That brings up an interesting possibility. I wonder if the family had recently had work done on or in their home, such as renovations or home repairs or a new roof installed. Perhaps the perp was familiar with the home because he had done some work there.

<modsnip>This was a brand new house built in 2017 and the floor plans for it are still online for anyone who is up to no good to find. It's possible the perp did construction work on the house recently but it's also possible this is someone who targeted the family based on seeing the listing photos and knowing the new area under construction would not have many people living there yet. Someone mentioned there doesn't look like there is much on street parking but in a neighborhood under construction a contractor van (for example) parked on the street would not raise suspicion. The perp might have even spent a few days in the neighborhood staking out the houses being built and figuring out who lived there and their schedules. JMO.

Truthfully, I don't think this was a home invasion. I can't recall ever hearing about a home invasion where there was only one invader, they tend to travel in packs and invade at night; not single actors in the day time. Has anyone here ever heard of a verified case of a home invasion being done by one person in the day time?

If someone she didn't know entered her home, isn't that a home invasion? It seems like a really simple question for them to answer.

If they are so sure she was taken (kidnapped)...then why are they still searching the lakes in the neighborhood? The Charleston news just said the mother was in the hospital in "fair" condition. It still stinks.

I followed a case on here not that long ago where a child was missing. She was dumped by a family member in a well in a nearby back yard within a very short period of time of being kidnapped. Being kidnapped doesn't mean the person has been removed from the nearby scene let alone speedily.

JMO, but I think many of us are still jaded by Sherin Mathews&#8217; case. I know my first thought always goes to the parents when a child is reported missing, but I don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s the case this time.

The police already said B. received a &#8220;severe beating.&#8221; If it was a sudden attack she may not have had time to get a more detailed description, or she was too disoriented or traumatized to remember much...or a combination of these factors.

There is a lot of new construction in the area. The police have stressed &#8220;wearing all grey.&#8221; To me, that sounds like a uniform. Plumber, landscaper or someone working on a construction crew.

Perhaps I&#8217;m naive, or simply don&#8217;t want to believe the alternative, but nothing leads me to think the mother is involved.

I was also up much of the night talking with others and researching the disappearance, so I&#8217;m tired and overly emotional.

Speculating that possibly she was ambushed upon returning home from somewhere.... For those of you with small children, how do you get them all out of the car? All would be in car seats. The 4 year old could probably unlock her let herself out. The 2 year old would be in a 5 point harness, probably forward facing, and the 6 month old in a rear facing carrier. That's a lot of work to get them all in house. How would you go about that? Do you take all kids with you to unlock the house? What if you also had groceries? Take in the kids, go back for groceries? Thoughts?

JMO, but from what I have read about other incidents, people who sustain head injuries from attacks may suffer amnesia about the period before, during and after the assault. The memories may come back in part or maybe not at all. I think that might explain why the mother is able to offer only limited information. I wonder if the attacker somehow knew enough about the family that he was aware the father was away.

So this slim, Hispanic man was wearing all gray. Was he in a workers uniform for cable, security, gardening, plumbing, mechanics, etc? Are any workers missing or fitting that description from areas where the local construction is ongoing?

Repeating to see if any locals can answer... are they still building homes in the area? What other types of construction are going on around there that would draw workers in that are not living in the area?

I'm trying to get caught up on this. I saw this child come through my FB feed, but only now realized that this is in a neighboring town to me... so, I haven't seen this questioned yet. Is it just me, or does anyone else find it unusual to release the exact address? Usually, when there is a crime I see only something like, "the 200 block of Smith St."

I can understand them not wanting to admit it was a home invasion if it was. That'll send a shock through the community and put people on edge. Combine that with this apparent trailer park that is full of Hispanic migrant workers and that suspect being described as Hispanic and...well...bad stuff will happen.

I can't recall ever hearing about a home invasion where there was only one invader, they tend to travel in packs and invade at night; not single actors in the day time. Has anyone here ever heard of a verified case of a home invasion being done by one person in the day time?

Yes, it almost happened to us. I was able to bang the door against his leg repeatedly until he stumbled back. It made him unsteady enough that I could close/lock the door, and activate my security system. The police found him not far from our house. His motive was not burglary and he had just been released from prison that day. I don’t think it is the norm, but it could happen.
