Just finished watching the video. Per the DA, Irene gave a post-miranda confession and admitted that she found Hubert deceased and wrapped him up in plastic and duct tape and put him in that location. The DA makes it clear however, that information discovered during the investigation indicates that Mr. Clodfelter did not lose his life by natural means.

Chief Deputy Solicitor Scott Hixson said Clodfelter admitted to finding Hubert dead and then putting him in the bags his remains were found inside.

The daughters said Irene called their biological mother shortly before they started to look for Hubert. They described Irene as a “pathological liar.”

The family asked the judge to deny bond and said they believe Irene has hidden enough money to flee the area.

A magistrate set Irene’s bond at $150,000 for the two new charges. That is on top of a $100,000 bond in Georgetown County.

I was really surprised that they had been married for 15 years--I would have guessed that it had been more recent. How horrible that the daughters were the ones that found their father! I certainly hope the coroner finds conclusive results for the trial.

Hubert's two daughters spoke during the bond hearing in Horry County Tuesday afternoon. Both women, through tears, asked the judge to not allow Irene to bond out of jail. Both women spoke of finding their father's remains inside a trash bag, wrapped in duct tape.

“I just could not wrap my head around what she could have done. Then I found dad stuffed in garbage bags and I felt his very flesh on my hands. And I realized that he was never coming back to us. His grandchildren will not grow up with their grandpa," one of the daughters testified. "...My heart also aches with anger that Irene could do to dad what she has admitted to doing. No one, no one deserves to rot in a garbage bag with his wife above him enjoying her life. No child deserves to open a bag and see her father like that. I am no longer able to sleep without fear of the dreams I have been having. I am no longer able to go through my day without the memory of the smell, and the bugs, and the site of his flesh and feel it on my skin. I am no longer able to live my life without the fear that she will hunt me down and shoot me, or hire someone else to do it."

I can't begin to imagine the horror his daughters went through, finding their father like that!

Irene Clodfelter’s defense attorney John Hillard said they plan a vigorous defense in the case. They also will not help police further their investigation. The sisters believe Irene Clodfelter will continue to be untruthful, and Karen described her stepmother as a “pathological liar.”

"The defendant, believing that her son was responsible for this crime, attempted to conceal this crime by wrapping the victim's body in plastic and wrapping tape around the plastic," the warrant states. Charging documents say Irene left the victim underneath the porch.

During the investigation into her husband's disappearance, the warrants allege "the defendant continued to receive money from the victim's businesses that she used to support her lifestyle."

I'd love to know how her son died myself. Very interesting and how convenient for her.

Just how does anyone live with a dead body underneath them in a garbage bag?

Am I the only one on here that would probably be institutionalized if I ever did such a thing- it would literally haunt me, I'd never forgive myself, and just knowing a deceased person is underneath me day after day would cause me to go over the deep end. I am not joking, either, I am very serious.

Why can't we sleuth him? She said he helped her. I only want to know his cause of death. I don't need any other details, just curious as to whether he had a true blue illness that he succumbed to or if something else occurred that might need to, er, be investigated.

I think we can sleuth as far as when he died because this information was in mainstream media? I'm going to alert this post to ask mods if we can perhaps discuss if there is any mainstream media report or perhaps in an obituary? So that the moderators can answer such.

Probably a typo. The daughter's were clearly distraught, I believe they found the daughter. Also- the media- ugh! Many times they get details wrong today. Too busy being the first to break a story, they don't fact check or spell check these days.

The daughters found Hubert's body in the "beach house in the Myrtle Beach Travel Park" according to one of @PommyMommy's informative links (‘No ones deserves to rot’: Sisters detail discovering murdered father’s remains). That location sounds like it was not Hubert's primary residence. But that doesn't excuse Irene for not being bothered by the death of her husband, whether or not she was involved (IMO she is not guiltless).

Yeah, of course she is out on bond. Using the money that she got from all of his accounts and Social Security saying he was still alive all that time.
