(WIS) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing mother and her six children.

The mother and children went missing after a judge ordered the 33-year-old mother, Jennafer Machelle Price, to turn over custody of the children to S.C. Department of Social Services.

According to OCSO, DSS went to pick the children up and discovered both Jennafer and the children were missing.

Sgt. Tim Rice, the Child/Elder abuse investigator and the rest of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, which included obtaining arrest warrants charging Price with six counts of Custodial Interference.

Sgt. Rice believes that Price may be driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna Minivan with a South Carolina Tag of 668KW. Price does have a history of narcotics abuse.

The children are 11-year-old Alana Grant, 9-year-old Tristan Price, 6-year-old Nyomi Hardwick, 4-year-old Alijah Hardwick, 2-year-old Rylee Hardwick and Anton Hardwick, who will turn one year old May 10.

I am familiar with that part of South Carolina. It borders North Carolina and is very near to (literally) the highest mountains east of the Mississippi and some dense woods, broken up with only small scattered settlements here and there. If she has a couple of contacts and she's able to get rid of that minivan quickly, she could make herself very hard to be found, even with six kids.

"Anything above and beyond the fact that the children and mother are missing is pure speculation. One thing we don't deal in is speculation," Watt told The Greenville News. "We're trying to find them and find out where they are to make sure everybody is safe."
Price, who has a history of drug abuse, was the one who first contacted DSS, saying she wanted to give up custody of her children: 11-year-old Alana Grant, 9-year-old Tristan Price, 6-year-old Nyomi Hardwick, 4-year-old Alijah Hardwick, 2-year-old Rylee Hardwick and 1-year-old Anton Hardwick.
"Apparently, she made the decision to turn them over and said, basically, she couldn't take care of them," Watt explained.

I am hoping she does the right thing by turning herself in and doesn't harm these kids ... they don't deserve any of this!!!!!

Such beautiful children, I hope she does the right thing and gives them a chance for a good future.
She seems very unstable IMO

Interesting that she's the one who made the call and decision to give up custody.. wonder what happened between her making the call and them showing up. Praying they are all found safe!

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says a judge issued a court order Wednesday morning for 33-year-old Jennafer Machelle Price to turn over custody of her children to the S.C. Department of Social Services.

Jimmy Watt, Public Information Officer with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department, told 7News Thursday that Price has a history of drug abuse and it’s believed that’s why she called DSS on Tuesday stating that she couldn’t take care of them and requesting the state to take custody of the children.

When DSS arrived at Price's home to pick up the children later on Wednesday, she and the children were missing.

Price is charged with six counts of custodial interference.
Watt said the department had received about 20 tips since Wednesday night.
Warrants state that Price fled with her children from their home on Long Creek Highway in Westminster.
Price is believed to be driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna Minivan with South Carolina license plate 6682KW.
The children are: 11-year-old Alana Grant, 9-year-old Tristan Price, 6-year-old Nyomi Hardwick, 4-year-old Alijah Hardwick, 2-year-old Rylee Hardwick, and 1-year-old Anton Hardwick.
“It’s not necessarily that they are in danger. Bottom line is the mother talked to DSS and agreed to turn over custody to them,” said Watt.
“We want the children back safe in Oconee County,” Watt said.
