Thanks stillwatersc. I posted a comment at the bottom of this news article requesting more info on this man found. I'm not sure where my comment goes or who reads it. Hoping it is the newspaper who published it. I referenced Johnny Lamar Brown, and asked for a more detailed description of the man found, at least his race. Hope we can get more info soon. Looks like still no more info from anyone that is willing to help us find Johnny, no LE, no MSM reports, no members who may have info first hand. So sad...:dunno:

I recall seeing a tourist attraction that took visitors up in helicopters over the coast. It was up towards the motel OLG and I checked out. Wondering if this is in the same area? Johnny may have been attracted to helicopters ,especially watching the aircraft take off and land.

ETA: Just remembered I may have seen the helicopters when I was going to the police annex on Mustang Dr. to pick up fliers on my first trip. I didn't pass the place offering helicopter rides ,I just remember seeing it up ahead before I turned off the hwy.

If thats Huffman Helicopters near the airport its still 9 miles further north of there

I just got home and I haven't gotten any word regarding the body yet.

There are two helicopter companies that I know of. One is Huffman (which Fabgod posted about) and I'm not really sure where the other one is except that it's in Myrtle Beach. There's been a lot of talk about the second one because they fly over people's houses and it's driving them nuts.

Ed to add--the other one is on 21st Ave near the NASCAR speed park

I sent a FB message to WPDE 15 asking if there have been any updates. Will post if I hear back from them.

  • #407
WPDE replied that "there is nothing to update because the man died of natural causes". This makes me think that it was either someone elderly or homeless. It could've been someone walking a dog for all we know. I really believe if it was Johnny it would've been reported by the media by now.

ed to add: I wrote back explaining that I was worried that it might be Johnny B. so if they have information to deny or confirm hopefully he'll let me know.

I don't know what to say.
I thought the first report said an unidentified man was found dead. There should be an update with the person's name or a description for him to be identified. How do they know for sure that he died of natural causes? What about a poisoning or an alcohol or drug overdose that doesn't have open wounds?
I close my mouth now.

ETA saw your edit to add that you contacted them again with your concerns. Maybe they will respond again.
Okay, I am calm now.

They did an autopsy on Saturday, so they must be pretty sure by now. That's why I think it may have been someone elderly or something like that. I don't why they won't report more than what they have. It must be a non-story ( in the news world)or the persons family wants it kept out of the news?

I checked the obituaries and didn't see anything there either.

I have been patient ALL DANG DAY!!!! There is something somewhat flawed in a system where you have a missing man combined with people who are desperately trying everything in their power - which includes constant internet searches for "unidentified bodies" - overlayed with a system that finds a dead body, and then does not give ANY information back out to the public! Honestly, this angers me. I believe if a dead body is found ANYWHERE, basic information, as in sex, race, etc... whatever is possible.... should be given to the public! That can't compromise any kind of investigation!!! :banghead: There are probably a lot of people who have 'missing' family that have sat on pins and needles over that stupid report of a 'body being found'. NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!! I know Myrtle Beach has a "reputation' to uphold because it is a tourist spot - my favorite place in the world to go, by the way... - but you can't sweep important crime cases under the rug and think the public won't know about it! As someone else said earlier, Myrtle Beach is gaining a reputation of a great place for someone to "go missing". Thanks for letting me rant. I am going to get a glass of wine, and go to bed. Geesh!!! :banghead:

I see.

A reason to satisfy most everyone, right?

NOT.

Why even report a found body in the first place, if the follow-up (identification) is such a bother?

(None of the above is pointed at you, dear Peekerfoo, and thank you for ALL you are doing and have done to find Johnny Lamar Brown).

I heard back from my connection with LE and he said it was a black male. He didn't know the age or anything else because he doesn't work for MBPD.

I hope you're wrong, too.

I would think they could compare the body with a known missing person with dental records and they do have fingerprints on file for Johnny.

Yes I agree, but dont forget, if they thought it was JLB, they would have to request dental records, it was saturday when the autopsy was carried out, so its likely they wouldnt get any response until monday.

The fingerprints as we have mentioned, If God forbid, it is JLB, the last sighting was 24th August, thats 5 and a half weeks ago, in hot weather?
I dont need to expand any further on that.

I checked Facebook and nothing new, well, nothing new regarding Johnny anyway :banghead:

Does anyone know the exact date that the body was found? I know it was reported in the news on the 29th, but I can't find exactly when it was found.

I'm trying to match obits for the date. I'm eliminating white people, those who died in hospice or the hospital, etc. the only one I can come up with so far is a Rev. who was 79, but they give his date of death on the 26th (which could be the last time he was seen by anyone). The person may have been at the hosipital visiting someone and took a walk.

I still think it may have been an elderly person and that's why they were so quick to say "natural causes".

Even if it was not Johnny it's heartbreaking that anyone would have to die in the woods alone. I feel like I let that person down in some way .

It's not money or the government who could have saved that person, but people paying attention, reaching out, listening and seeing homeless ,not hopeless.
