PEEK!!:takeabow: ! Glad to hear you're OK, still wondering how the Brit had the scoop on all of us, but, I guess we're getting used to thaT!! I didn't know they had found those boys dead, I was hoping they had chosen to go missing. Soooo, anyway.....I have a new friend on FB who wants to know how to search jails, hospitals, mental hospitals, etc for JLB! I think those are all excellent ideas, but, I don't know how to do it. What is the procedure if someone without ID is arrested, etc? My new friend also wants to know how to get pics made of JLB if he had hair, beard, etc! Any thoughts?? Anybody know how to photoshop? I'll see if my friend has any other photos of JLB she wants to share!

Hi, Maureen. I doubt if a mental hospital would give out information on any patient to anyone besides family, and most regular hospitals won't anymore, due to privacy issues.

Hate to say this, and certainly hope it's not true, but he could be laying in a morgue somewhere and no one knows who he is. Don't most places try to put some kind of notice out if they need help identifying a John Doe?

I don't know why he would be in a jail, unless he tried to steal food or clothes or even money, but it's a possibility.

TxLADY2...thanks, and you're right, my gson Adam is such a great boy. He and his gfriend both graduated from HS this yr, he started to college and went to work at Publix too, and she went to work in another grocery store, couldn't afford college. I was letting her stay here, no charge, to save to go to school, and helping her get registered. He is processing all this and surely will see all the evidence points to her; she has the Poke'mon cards, ordered and mailed in her name, and to her dad's address. I'm hoping she will pay him back, but I really doubt it. Anyway, enough of O/T.

Sometimes it takes people awhile to come around, Nonni. It's difficult when you find out someone you thought you knew has done something bad to someone you love. Seems like the nicer and kinder someone is, the harder it is for them to "see" the bad side of people. And it's generally the good ones that get taken advantage of.
I still prefer to see the good side of people, rather than the bad, but I'm not nearly as easily taken in as I used to be. However, if I had been in your shoes, I might have done the same thing. I'm just glad you caught on before it turned out much worse. Your g/son is probably as disillusioned as you are, maybe more, but it will take a little time for him to be able to deal with it.

Hi all! I just got back from a week in the mountains of NC (had a wonderful time)and I checked in here to see if Johnny was located while I was gone. I see that, sadly, he has not. I hope he is somewhere safe because it's really chilly here. I can't believe he's been gone this long.

On the way home I drove past the scene where Jake Ziegler and Ray (the two missing boys from NC) were killed in a car accident. The accident team was there today. I had no idea the boys car had been found in the water and I even said to my DH that I hoped it had nothing to do with them. I hope the ending of Johnny's story will be a better one than the way Jake and Ray's ended.

We don't bring anything like laptops etc to the mountains with us, and I found myself missing my friends of Johnny Brown! Thanks for noticing I was gone--it's reassuring that if I ever go missing y'all will notice. :)

Glad to see you're back, and that you had a nice time!

Welcome back Peek! Hope you came back refreshed-you deserved a nice, relaxing break. We are going away next week and I'm hoping the aftermath of this storm won't mes up our plans. No cable or internet besides this darn phone so it's hard to check on anything. But we were truly blessed compared to thousands and thousands of others so no complaints.
Hope you were safe and warm Johnny B....

Hi Tex, They do seem like they put out the call when they don't know someone's identinty. If you google, you'll see. Every story I read about unidentified man killed, I let out such a huge sigh of relief when I saw white male. The live ones have pics of them in the hospital and I didnt see any Johnnys. Nevermind about the photoshopping, my friend found someone.

I had a great time and the weather was beautiful (except for a little wind!). We drove by the exit for Ninety-Six and I wanted my DH to pull off so we could see if JB was there, but hubster was in "pedal to the metal" mode and wouldn't cooperate.

I hope you have a safe trip. That storm sure was a doozy! I cannot believe the amount of damage that was done. My family up that way worries about me living so close to the beach in SC and they end up having a worse time of it than we've ever had here in 20 years.

I'm a little slow at getting back into action since I got home.

Soooo, your FB friend may have other pics of JB??? Hmmm that would be helpful! I don't know how you check out all of the places you mentioned, but I do check the missing person's sites and I'm sure that if a hospital (or morgue :( ) had a "John Doe" they would check it with the LE sites.. At least Johnny has been entered into those. I don't know how to do Photoshop, so I'm pretty much helpless there.

Soooo, my friend supposedly has someone coming thurs to do pics of what JB would look like with hair. I'll see if I can get her to post them on FB or send them to me and I'll post them. I think maybe I'll print up some flyers and take them around town here, he could be in Lynchburg! Kind of like reverse trick or treating, is it legal to put flyers on peoples windshields? Oh well, I'll keep you all posted! We got a new like today, someone from Indiana!! Maybe he's there! When JB comes home, he will be able to write a book about all his adventures, let me tell you! Soooo, I'll keep y'all posted!

Sandy just ripped through the whole east coast... it was awful!! My prayers for everybody who lost their homes or especially lost loved ones in this storm.
You couldn't pay me to live anywhere near an ocean. But then this area gets some tornadoes some years that are pretty awesome too. I guess everywhere has some kind of potential for a natural disaster.
Maureen, you're doing a fantastic job with everything you're doing!

Hi everybody, I'm trying to make my own missing poster, one without the family's info, im gonna post what i have so far, open to any and all criticism. I didnt include clothing description or reference to being afraid of thunder and lightning (duh, you're supposed to be afraid, lightning can kill you!) I tried to focus on special needs, etc so people will understand WHY they should care about a 45 year old man being missing. I figure there is a reasonably good chance he could be here in VA if he was heading for GA, right? So, if you see a bunch of empty posts, thats me figuring out how to put picture here. By the way, whoever it was that thanked me, I have done NOTHING compared to people like Nonni Brenda and Peekerfoo who have driven miles upon miles and searched the woods and put up flyers, etc. THANK YOU to all of you who have done so much!! OK, heres the poster, hopefully. I havent double checked my facts yet, so if something is wrong, I still have time to fix it, weight, phone#, etc. Cross your fingers and pray for my lack of technological skills!!

Hi M. I haven't done nearly as much as others, and as I wish I could have. It has been such a great team effort, you, Peek, MissJames, nosy, Fab, and so many others. Wish we had had better results by now. I do think he's still out there, and pray he's safe. If he wasn't, I think we would have had news by now. Trying to be optimistic. Looking forward to seeing your poster. I'm not good with things like that either.:seeya:

Frustration is setting in! Can anybody help? I googled a missing person template and downloaded it. It opened up in my microsoft word starter and I filled it in - I did save it every few minutes. Now, I cant find it in my documents or downloads or recent places?? Anybody better at this than I am? I can do it again, but, I hate to lose it again, getting the picture right was hard (for me anyway) Frustrated - better go eat something!!

  • #797
I''m not sure what word starter is, but if it's like Word and you had been saving it, it's there somewhere, maybe with a different extension.

Try going to File at the top and it should list the last documents you have worked on. If it is not there, then go down to Open under the File tab and it should list all of your documents.

Do you remember the name of it? You could try to do a search from My Documents icon typing in the name.

If you did it on a tablet, I don't know anything about them.

  • #798
Did you try 'recent' documents?'

  • #799
Damn this case! Even the posters go missing!! OK, so I did a new one, much easier this time, especially now that I know how to manipulate the picture! Gonna try to post this one - hold on! If you hear screaming, that's just me. How can I find a missing person, I can't even find a missing document!:banghead:
