HAMPTON COUNTY -- Three Colleton County men are in custody charged with the Monday home invasion and kidnapping that left a 78-year-old woman stuck in her trunk and shot in the abdomen.

The Hampton County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday that two Walterboro men, Stevie Lamont Aiken, 30, and Nathaniel Harris, 48, have been arrested and are charged with burglary, kidnapping, assault and battery with intent to kill, grand larceny and armed robbery.

Both Aiken and Harris have previous felony convictions and also face charges of being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Derrick Ladel Aiken, 29, was arrested and is charged with being an accessory to the crime. Derrick and Stevie Aiken are brothers, according to a Hampton County spokesperson.

HAMPTON, SC—Three men charged in connection with a home invasion and kidnapping of an elderly woman were refused bond in a Hampton County court Wednesday afternoon.

Nathaniel Harris and Stevie Aiken heard the charges against them: first degree burglary, kidnapping, assault and battery with intent to kill, grand larceny, felon in possession of a weapon and armed robbery. Their bond hearing will happen in Hampton County General Sessions court at a later date.

Stevie’s brother, Derrick, is charged with being an accessory before and after the fact. The judge declined to set bond for him.

Derrick Aiken burst into tears at the hearing, telling the judge, “I am not a criminal.“

Nope.It's not. I have been invited to a symposium on local crime. I will let you know how that goes. Without wanting to offend anyone here, I am an upper middle class white female. I have 3 kids and 2 grands. I was asked to speak at a recent meeting on gang violence. When I questioned why, I, of all was I asked, I was told that I was in the MINORITY in the county and they needed to hear from me.
Apparently they liked what I had to say, because this next meeting is with the Governor.

Stevie Lamont Aiken, 31, of Walterboro was sentenced to 35 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of armed robbery, first-degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime in the December 2009 home invasion, shooting and kidnapping of an elderly Hampton County woman...

Harris pleaded guilty in January and was sentenced to 20 years in prison...

Gooding has moved to an assisted living facility in North Carolina. Her daughter told the court that Gooding had hoped to live out the remainder of her life at her long-time home in Hampton County, but is unable to return and relive what happened to her...

"She has never returned from being in that car."
