Marianne Cecilia Marsh, 61, was last seen near Birch Lane in the University Forest neighborhood outside of Conway on Feb. 14, 2020, around 9 a.m.

She was last heard from around 4 p.m. Friday.

Marianne has a medical condition requiring medication and typically needs a cane to walk. Due to this, as well as the near-freezing temperatures, she is considered endangered.

She is approximately 5’0” and 105 lbs. She was last seen wearing a burgundy Snuggie/hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call HCPD at 843-248-1520.

CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — A son's trip to deliver his mom flowers on Valentine's Day has launched a now multi-day search for a missing woman in Conway.

Marianne Marsh's daughter, Joy Macbay, said her brother stopped by the mother's Birch Lane home Friday afternoon and she was not home.

Her cars were still in the driveway, but her cards, wallet, ID and newly bought carton of cigarettes were still in the home. This concerned all of her family.

Before she went missing Marsh told her adult children that she was upset and needed to “blow off some steam.”

Joy Macbay, Marsh’s daughter, says Marsh has a history of leaving home when she is upset, but has never been gone this long.

This worries me also because the last know place she was seen walking is known in this area as the predator nest. Between university forest and Jessica lakes there’s many. I hope she is okay.

A Conway mother disappears, family pleading for help in search efforts

Everyone, but not as many agencies as Macbay would have hoped. She said Horry County Police have sent officers to canvas the neighborhood, but she says they are holding off on a larger scale ground search.

She understands that may be because they have yet to find a solid lead on where Marsh may have gone, but as a daughter, she says it's frustrating to have to rely solely on the kindness of neighbors.

"Everyone right now is very worried and we are just trying to hold ourselves together," said Macbay.

Seeing this saddens me. She has been listed as an endangered missing person. I wish I knew some way to help her family from afar.

'Looking for some kind of sign’: Family members search for missing Horry County woman

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Family members of missing 61-year-old Horry County woman Marianne Marsh were busy conducting a search Thursday morning for her in the Conway area.

Joy MacBay, Marsh’s daughter, posted to social media that three people would gather to walk the railroad tracks starting at University Forest in Conway. The meeting point was Seacoast Church in Socastee.

“We obviously don’t want to find her along the tracks, but we’re looking for some kind of sign that shows which way she might go, some kind of sign that she left behind. She smoked cigarettes, maybe a pack of cigarettes or a soda she drank or something,” MacBay says.

Family of missing Horry County woman continues search

BBM

Horry County police are investigating. MacBay says officers are speaking with neighbors and looking into where Marsh could have gone using her cell phone.

However, MacBay says police don’t have all the resources to help with a boots on the ground search. The CUE Center for Missing Persons was called in to help and will begin a professional search on Monday.

Here's a quick map I made up : Mari Marsh, age 61, went for a walk and vanished. Conway, South Carolina - Google My Maps

There isn't a whole lot to go on other than where she was last seen/heard from and the distances to close-by wooded areas. It sounds like she had limited mobility for the most part, so I find it hard to believe that she would walk more than a mile (and back) in any direction. Although highly populated, there do appear to be quite a view wooded areas and ponds/lakes. Hopefully she just got mad and decided to ditch her family for awhile, but leaving the cellphone and medications behind seems to indicate otherwise. Just judging by her Facebook, she appears to be a sweet little granny.

Prayers for Mari and family. If she was in pain don't think she would have pushed the walk too far. Friends in the vicinity perhaps ? Not likely to leave all those things behind. IMHO.
Could she have been seeing someone kids don't know about. Am short on alternatives here. Worried for her

CUE out of NC had boots on the ground today.

Wilmington-based organization joins in search for missing Conway woman

MacBay said she hopes the K-9s and horses CUE sent out on Monday will be able to find anything she might have missed.

However, she said recent flooding, especially in the Conway area, might have washed away any traces her mother might have left behind.

"Maybe if there was some grass that had been pressed down by someone walking through it, any clothing or pieces of things she may have left behind. Any of that, footprints, it's all going to be gone in those areas," she said.

Longer, repetitive video from earlier today :

Cars in driveway, cell phone, medication, cigarettes, and wallet in house - this does not strike me as a typical voluntarily missing person. And she has mobility issues. It doesn't add up. A woman with mobility issues who wanted to get away from it all for a few days, would take cell phone, medication, cigarettes, wallet, credit/ATM cards, a change of clothes or three, toiletries, and definitely one of her cars. If she's voluntarily gone, she's with someone who is buying her dinner. IMHO.

Does she have a husband? Boyfriend? If she “went for a walk” to get away from whomever she was mad at, she would not have gone far. If she is voluntarily missing, she had help. Otherwise, she met the foul play. Someone saw a vulnerable person and took an opportunity.

She would had to have a means to eat, sleep, change clothes, shower, be warm to have left wallet, cigs, cellphone, credit cards and vehicles at home. So which is it? IMO

One of her children has set up a "Find" page, and a "Find" group page on FB. I don't know why they have 2 different pages, as the info is about the same:

Please Help Find Marianne Marsh "Please Help Find Mariane Marsh" Only posts from admin

Random thought. It doesn't say what time she went for a walk. Perhaps it was dusk or dark. I wonder if, with her mobility issues, she could have been walking and not gotten across a road/street in time. I've heard of more than one case where a person will "dispose" of the victim and pretend the accident never happened. Just a random thought.

Welcome to Websleuths, @Tdodson! The opening post said that 4 pm was the last time she was heard from. I don't know what time dusk started in February in South Carolina.
