Investigators say McCaffrey lied about several things during the investigation, including when he saw his wife in bed the night she disappeared and that his wife found a safe in their home with $110,000 in it.

Deputies didn't talk about what the arrest means in their investigation into Gayle McCaffrey's disappearance.

The man accused of obstructing a police investigation into the disappearance of his wife bonded out of jail Sunday afternoon, less than a day after his arrest...

During the hearing, McCaffrey stood with his arms folded. He never said a word during the hearing.

"His eyes tell it all. He's angry now because he's been caught and I'm worried that he will come out and actually try to do something," Pearson said.

For several hours on Saturday, Robert McCaffrey was questioned by deputies about discrepancies in his story and their investigation into his missing wife. They said the interrogation was unproductive, and his attorney cut the questioning short.

Charged with obstruction of justice McCaffrey left the Charleston County jail, hours after bond court. A spokesperson says he hasn't spoken to detectives since 2012.

“He gave his initial statement. We made several attempts for him to come in for another interview. He refused to do so. So we had to rely on what he gave us. What he gave us was lies,” says Maj. Eric Watson with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

I have watched this case from day one, since he was traveling in my area. McCaffrey thinks he's smarter than others, but the nonsense he made up is showing otherwise. I always think of this poor woman and the children when I travel on certain roads around Traveler's Rest. Karma is why he was stopped for speeding!!!

But looking at the old video of the speeding arrest - JMO - I wonder if her body was in the back of his pickup, under the tonneau cover, and he had the gun ready in the center console to shoot the officer if he checked under that truckbed cover.

Man I wish that officer would have peeked under there. If she was under there, talk about Karma!

I wondered the same thing. They had no reason to search at that point, but it would have been interesting. I have wondered if he still owns the truck.

Obstruction case moving forward against husband of Gayle McCaffrey

A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday morning to determine whether there was enough evidence to continue prosecution. Magistrate Judge James Gosnell ruled there is enough probable cause for the obstruction case to move forward.

Charleston County Sheriff's Detective James Perkins told Gosnell that Bob McCaffrey has been uncooperative, beginning the day he reported his wife missing on March 18, 2012, when authorities asked to search his home."He refused," said Perkins.

Gayle McCaffrey case still unsolved 5 years later

Today brings a somber anniversary for the friends and family members of Gayle McCaffrey.

This day marks five years since the West Ashley woman vanished after what her husband described as an argument after an early dinner.

Gayle McCaffrey worked at The Citadel. Her husband Robert McCaffrey was named a suspect but has never charged with her death.

Gayle's body has never been found despite dozens of searches.

In a social media post, Gayle Mccaffery's friends are once again praying for justice and closure.

I thought I had posted this,but didn't see it on the thread. Anyway, last year, Gayle's children were permanently adopted by her sister, Debbie & husband. Again, Bob did not show up for hearing. I guess he moved on from his kids and wife. How sad.
