Couldn't hurt.

Aside from the ones already brought up there is this one, Jim Foster:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/f/foster_jim.html

He seemed to have been in an accident with injuries to his right side. From Manning SC (about 100 miles away). 5'6". He went missing in November, though - not exactly the time of year someone would be in swim trunks.

Our UID had injuries on the left... they would have been able to identify the surgical pins he had as well.

ETA: Never mind about the pins... just remembered bones were found, not a "body" per say so pins could have came out or they didn't find his knee.

The swim trucks were found in the area but they are not sure that the trunks belonged to the UID.

I think it could have come from a flea market. The company is a wholesale seller.

I was trying to see if I could find pictures of anyone with that same cross and did not find a perfect match but was surprised to find this picture of Kareem Jamaal Ward below that shows he liked crosses. This may have been brought up before and sorry if already mentioned. I realize the age doesnt match what LE says as the estimated age but since the height is so short I am thinking it still could be this person that is still missing. Mainly because of his fondness for cross necklaces. The supposed injuries not sure about because I dont know if this person had any injuries like that or maybe animals caused some of the bone injuries.

This person went missing in the SC area and the picture floored me because of the recent found cross near the bones. He was young and maybe his height would be close due to his young age. I know LE age said much older but they had such a large range I kind of disregard their estimate for age. If they were as old as LE said, then they were very short.

I deleted this post to start again..

The jewelry is (I think) from HBJ Wholesale Body Jewelry - who are the wholesale distributors of 'Spikes' Stainless Steel Jewelry.
Its not a cheap jewelry - 316L stainless Steel and Gold.
Link to Hollywood Jewelry TM

Cross: at webpage link http://www.hollywoodbodyjewelry.com/product/5611/
316L Stainless Steel Gold Plated Angelic Cross with Multi-Gem Cross in the middle
Description: Dimensions: W 1.5" x L 1.825"
Pendant Clasp Dimension: 4mm Diameter

Chain: http://www.hollywoodbodyjewelry.com/product/6039/

-----

I wonder if there is a distributor in SC or around Horry County.
I think a few body modification/tattoo shops or high end fashion retail jewelry would stock these.
The Cross is very individual (design wise) and is quite different than the other crosses in this brand. This is the only one with the wings.
Also the chain is an unusual link.
The pair sold together would be distinguishing (lets hope).
Possibly someone lay-by'd it or bought it on Credit Card in the area - and if so, there would be the purchase details.

ETA.. OOOps sorry carbuff - I was editing and you were posting. We found the same place. Sorry for the double info :)

And another bump: this post has the most info

Well done! That's the kind of stuff you can buy at Wings or Waves beach stores too.

And another place where this jewelry is often sold.

Got this from Det. Cestare regarding Charles Overstreet:

Thank you, I am waiting on DNA from the skeletal remains. I am not sure if this is a good candidate or not, too many differences .

I am just baffled that there are SO many distinguishing characteristics with this UID yet no matches at all....

Can somebody who has better image processing software take a look at the cross in this photo? http://media.thestate.com/smedia/2014/01/05/00/15/140zdz.AuSt.74.jpeg

I don't think it's the same as the Spikes cross, but it sure looks similar.

I will try to work with the picture.

I thought they said this was a white male? Isn't Kareem of African American descent?

Thanks. Yes, he's the wrong race and way too tall. The pendant just caught my eye. If he has a similar one maybe his family might know something about it, like where he bought it, that might give investigators a clue where to look for this man's identity.
