ITA. Why waste money on a lawyer when he knows he's guilty and will get the max.Roof is representing himself per FOX. Makes sense since he is going to be found guilty anyway and most likely get death. jmo
RBBM Why do you think this? It's such a cut and dried case. What can he say in his defense? The prosecution seems prepared. Roof was determined to be competent to stand trial and it's his decision to represent himself. In a way, I hope they don't allow cameras in the courtroom. It would only give him the attention he craves. IMOYou are right....he will lose. Not sure about SC laws, but by representing oneself, limits the appeals able to be made in some states such as Kansas.
Just had a trial, Julie Dumbo, shot in ATT Store, Derby, KS, lost all 4 limbs....James Phillips, now convicted, represented himself. He and his then lawyers played the delay game, then announced he would represent himself. He was rude, with several out bursts of bad language. Judge gave warnings but never did anything to JP about his outburts. Judge only threatened him with isolation room with video camera. JP lost. He said he was trying to get money for his family that is whynhe robbed....and the gun went off by mistake?! He may have other theft charges in other near by states.
Yep, this guy will not win. It will be a mess of a trial. Does anyone know if it will be televised, taped for replay, or can people tweet from courtroom?
(KAnsas Judge would not allow anything in courtroom so we only got a bit on nightly news about Phillips trial).
